Sort of worked. And sort of didn't. It's not big enough to cut straight across, so I cut one end, turned it round and then cut the other end. Pity I didn't actually meet in the middle.
You'd think with a flippin' guillotine I'd be able to cut in a straight line, wouldn't you?s/e0 -
One of those stupid, frustrating things that annoys you out of all proportion to its signicance?
I have been told that if you swear copiously, it helps when doing DIY.
Is there not a handy young man around who can help you out?
You sound quite p'd off. and I truly am sorry about suggesting Council. I will beat myself severely and wear sackcloth and ashes for a fortnight as an apology:o :rolleyes:I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -

Possibly frustrated that I used to do all this sort of stuff without too much effort (although I've never really been much cop at straight lines). There was a time that the floor would have been finished in an hour or so, now it's likely to take me a couple of days.
T/S will be back on Monday, and I've already asked him to cut the the carpet edging (you know, that alumnium stuff for tidying up edges) as I know I won't be able to do that myself.
And I'm having new carpet fitted in the hall, stairs and landing next month, which will brighten the house up a bit. Gonna let the professionals do that for me. It'll be a pleasure to watch them working - if they don't set fire to the house in the process.s/e0 -
good luck with sorting the tiles s/e if you drew a line on the tile with a ruler and pencil would that make it easier to get a straight line to meet in the middle with the thingy? i have no idea how these things work, i doubt i could even lay tiles that did not need cutting tbh
was it someone in this thread the other day said they used to work for a crisis team (or was it somewhere else)?0 -
Crutches - It sounds like different drs make different rules regarding meds doesnt it. She didnt say to take paracetomol with co - codomol but with Tramadol.
We had a good talk about pain meds at the pain management course today, we all take similar meds, codiene, anti - inflammetries, tramadol, gabapentin or pregabalin and everyone agreed that they get hardly any pain relief with any of them, but lots of side effects, it makes you wonder if its worth taking any of them really.

It doesn't happen with me either, CwtA. Even when I was on morphine, the only effect I got with that (and barely any noticeable pain relief) was that it sent me 3/4 of the way towards nasty loopy.
I didn't get on well with MST and Oramorph used to make my mouth come out in blisters, but I am pleased to say I don't notice any mood changes with the morphine patches. They are really the only thing that helps to dull the pain. The only problem I have found was that the adhesive made me itch. Thankfully I found out from a FOAF that the nurses at the local hospice use Becotide inhalers to spray the area first. There's a steroid in there that seems to counteract whatever is in the adhesive. Some people hear voices, some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever

Totally understand the frustration s/e - that's the thing I find hardest to deal with. I have come to the conclusion that pacing myself isn't part of my make-up, so I still go at things all out and then have to recover afterwards, even if the pain reduces me to tears. I use pain/Neurofen patches before starting anything, but have yet to discover something that will help with the hands. That's why I gave in on the dishwasher after breaking too many things dropping them - including toes!
Tonight I am walking in a winter wonderland as I opened a top kitchen cupboard (crammed full as everything is) and an opened packet of cornflour fell out. :rotfl:
s/e - hope your place will look lovely when it's all done and you can sit and relax for a while.
Saw Cabaret yesterday for 1st time and was amazed how strong it was. I was quite suprised how horrified and disgusted I was at the sight of Nazi Uniforms and flags in front of me for the first time. Amazing though and have now ordered DVD from amazon.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -

I have never understood the pacing concept and it was one of my arguments when I attended the pain management programme. How can you be expected to pace yourself when you don't know how you are going to feel from one day to the next? Surely you can only pace yourself if you are on an even keel, because then you'll have an idea of what you can accomplish. However when we lurch between one pain and fatigue crisis to the next it is nigh on impossible to work out when you are going to have the reserves to carry out what you want to do. If by some chance you find yourself with pain you can manage and you're not dropping off to sleep then it's automatic to push yourself to finish something - because you never know when you'll next have the resources to manage it.Some people hear voices, some see invisible people. I've plucked up the courage to chat about the embarrasing problem I have!:o
Whenever I have sexual intercourse about 2-3 hours later, I get terrible stomach cramps and dihorrea?(sp), not that it is that often, with the pain and tiredness:rotfl: Does anyone else get similar symptoms, I have IBS with the FMS and wondered if some sort of hormone release etc has something to do with it, either that or the rush of adrenaline released at a certain point:eek:
Well thats it out in the open
thanks0
