I did learn, when I had the *awful* colonoscopy, that I have "an acute bend at the hepatic flexure" - which in layman speak means that my intestine bends awkwardly on the right hand side, roughly where the liver is. I found this interesting and wondered whether it had anything to do with awkward passage of foodstuffs causing pain..?Cwta wrote:BZ - wondered where you were and am pleased you're OK and happy with the settlement you wll get. let's hope they're quick with the cheque. Sounds like the Mum is an independent woman who doesn't like to ask for help. Good on you for using a spoon on her.I very much doubt they'll be quick with the cheque as we're disputing the liability so I'll be surprised if it's resolved before Jan tbh.
She's usually only bluddy independant when she's trying to prove something though, so I'll be interested to see if there's a backlash coming...:think:I never had constipation with my IBS, I think it must be bliss! But that's easy to say, never having had it. Without the immodium, I can "go" up to 5 times and hour and leaving the house is impossible.
I especially hate long car journeys where you don't know how far the next services isI freak out and get anxious/panicy when I'm out and about and get a twinge and don't know if I'll make it to the nearest "facilities" - or even if I'm in a house with only one bathroom and someone goes in (usually a bloke with a reading material
) and you don't know how long they'll be in there... _pale_

I have left sided pain. I'm not sure whether it's all IBS related, or fibromyalgia related. I have trouble with what I call my "spleen pain" (I think I've mentioned this before?) which is in the "rib region" - the bit below your rib cage that doesn't have ribs but isn't quite your stomach iykwim.
I seem to remember you mentioning you were getting marriedI must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -

You know what though - OH said he wanted a look at "my online life" last night and was scanning through the forum (only managed about 5 pages before he gave in) and I was (of course) watching over his shoulder... and noticed all the mentions (just on those pages) of the WEDDING!
Oops.Hadn't realised I was that zealous!
At least I'm excited about it though, eh? :j"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -

I do genuinely forgot that I've mentioned it so often, and then I don't wanna do that annoying thing where I go on about something you don't even get what I'm talking about!
But yes, I am enthusiastic  _party_:j
:shhh:I don't know if I've put this on before, but I've loaded some pics of some of the 'W'-word stuff if you want a nosey?

As far as I can remember (3 years ago now) the SSP1 form is an application for Statutory Sick Pay, which means that your employer's legal obligation regarding sick pay have ended, and now it's down to the gov to pay you. This is not to say that you won't get any more sick pay from your employer, it depends on what their arrangements are. In some large organisations, you'll get 6 months full pay and then 6 months half pay, then no pay, but it varies. Do be aware though, that once you start getting SSP, if your employer is still paying you, any SSP you get will be deducted from your pay first.
The first SSP form is basically, 20 odd pages that amount to "who are you, and where have you hidden your money" I think there's 1 question relating to your illness or the reason you're not well enough to work. If you're having trouble with it, go to your local CAB, as they'll have advisors who can help you. It's the SSP form relating to longer term IB (or what's now Employment Support Allowance) that's going to be more difficult to fill in, but don't worry about that for now.
Does this mean you're finished with work now? No, not necessarily. If your employers are prepared to be patient then if it's likely that you'll recover enough to be able to go back to work, then they'll probably want you back. Especially if you've been there some time and you're any good at your job. But I really do think you need to discuss your employer's intentions with your employer.
Too early in the morning for me to go into it in any depth, but there are options available to you, if your employer's willing to be adaptable.s/e0
