In theory you are supposed to take the buscopan daily - possibly 3 times(?) a day? (Have a look at the leaflet) With the colofac I know I was supposed to take it 20mins before meals, for example. GPs either get it, or they really don't, with IBS. I was told, after massive pain and being rushed in to hospital under suspicion of appendicitis and 10 days in hospital with various unfruitful tests, that it was probably IBS brought on by stress (long story) as I was discharged. They gave me ibruprofen for the pain and I think that was it! I can't remember if it was the hospital or the GP that then gave me the colofac. I got bored with constantly taking tablets and found it near impossible to take it 20mins before food so kind of gave up with the meds. I do have a permanent stock in all the time though and take it when I have flare ups.

If you want a link to a site my siblings have found very helpful - about dietary choices that can really help - then let me know and I'll dig it out :)

    Hi BZ
I would love the link to the site you mentioned that helped your siblings. that would be great.

    thanks

  • I'm the same yellow rock about trying to put a funny slant on everything, but when it's a difficult symptom it al gets a bit wearing don't it.
Do you have any pain during sex? There were some articles I saw about left sided pain in women with IBS.

I do get left sided pain, had an awful experience about 2 years ago, got admitted to hosp with it, it was thought I had an ovarian cyst that had burst, after ultrasound they were happy the fluid would disperse and discharged me, with pain killers etc. I do wonder though if it is ibs related as every now and then I get the ' ovary pain' again, I'm on the pill so not ovulating so no explanation there. Luckily no pain during sex( other than the usual joint pains!)

This fms is a real pain in the a***. It seems alot of symptoms we all get are fms related. I notice in a recent post, pain under the rib area was mentioned- again I am a subscriber to that!! I always go and get checked out by gp when I get a new pain/symptom, as this forum as taught me - never presume it is your fms. However, the majority of the time it is:(

take care all, thanks for the support, I love reading the posts

  • Welcome blondie, we're a friendly bunch here. s/e seems to have the angle on SSp etc, but she's up so early she must have wet the bed! :D

BZ, I love the stuff you are doing for the Wedding. I particulrly liked the pendant and the flower pins(!).

Was talking to my Sis last night (she's a major player in jewellery making, quilting and generally all things crafty) and she was laughing when I told her how clever all you people were - she said "See, you can't get away from it no matter how you try!
I would love to learn to know or something to do whilst I watch TV. I do like cross-stitch, but find it wearing on the neck with all the leaning over and squinting

Major back pain here, so stretching and slow moving are the order of the day.
By the way - someone has been stealing my spoons. I can find nary a teaspoon in the house and had to add suger and stir my tea with the end of a fork. I'll probably find I've put them somewhere bizarre. Or does a dishwasher eat spoons the way a washing machine eats socks?

Yellowrock - Awful for you! Please do mention to GP - it will take hopefully a little stress out of something that should be entirely pleasurable.
    Later my lovelies.

  • I bought a pair of trousers in the M&S Sale, thinking they looked comfy and none of those awful buttons to do up.

I've suddenly realised I've bought my first pair of semi-smart pull-on trousers??!!

What has happened to my life?

Oi! I resemble that remark! :p
Aksherly, I tend to run out of steam/flake out about 9.00 pm so I'm usually in bed by about 9.30. The drawback to that is I'm awake early and in too much pain to stay in bed much beyond 8.00 am - in fact, that's a reasonably good day.
I would love to learn to know or something to do whilst I watch TV. I do like cross-stitch, but find it wearing on the neck with all the leaning over and squinting
You could take up knitting - some of the simpler patterns can be done without too much attention being paid. Oh for the days when I used to be able to read, knit and watch TV all at the same time.

Can't say I've noticed any spoons disappearing that way. Even if they did, that'd be a small price to pay for the reduction in breakages.

hello everyone  i see no one missed me then  well i missed you lot ;):o
i see a troll wandered in as i went out?

iv had a dodgy couple of days as i had a car accident on thursday tea time, i wasnt really hurt as i wasnt going fast enough, but someone pulled out of a side junction straight into my passenger side and im realising now that its really jolted me and i have a few extra aches and pains. The police that attended to drag my useless car off the road asked me 'do you have any pain anywhere' should i have listed it??? :rotfl: at the time i didnt think i had any pains i dont usually have but the next day i could hardly move as all my muscles were so much stiffer than usual and i have a pain in my right shoulder i think where the seat belt stopped me? They took my lovely golf away and i had a rental car delivered yesterday :( its a brand new 2 litre injection peugeot 308!! i only needed something to tootle to the shops and to work which is 5 minutes away :o

anyway im aorry i have tried to read through and remember what i was replying to but the bang jolted the last few remaining brain cells i think and the fibrofog has descended thickly.

I do remember a couple of things. yellowrock well done for posting :) i cant help you with it but as we have found with other complaints, it helps other people to be able to then say oh yes i have that! I think it may be an adrenaline thing though?? if i get nervous or very excited it has the same effect and theres no way anything is staying in my body when i eat or drink longer than 5 minutes :o i may as well tip everything straight down the loo :rotfl:
i do get the left sided pain though and sometimes it takes my breath? i worried it was cysts and then the gp a couple of times has given me antibiotics and said it could be an infected fallopian tube? just another thing to blame on the fibro via ibs i suppose?

CwtA welcome to my comfy world [the trousers] im not sure how old we all are? but im 38 [only just stopped telling people 28  ] and i am so middle aged in my dressing, i always look smart for work but everything i buy is scrutinised for comfort factor, i like a lot of next trousers as they have a sort of little slidy fastener?? rather than buttons lol

unity your photos are fantastic :D talented we [you lot] are on here

oh and before i go... did someone mention a wedding?? is someone getting married? it was such a slight mention im not sure if i got it wrong?

;) BZ fab photos thank you, the little flower you made are excellent, they must have been very fiddly.

i will leave now as i think i have made up for not coming in with this post length :o

  • Hi Raeh
Yes, I had wondered where you were (coz you're so demanding) and if all was OK. Sorry to hear about your accident - how awful. I think the aches and pains from being jolted are almost the worst. Take it easy for a couple of days eh?

    and I'll whisper my age - 45.
I was Okish about it until I realised I was now halfway to the age I'm not going to be OK about. NO s/e and BZ, not 90, OK?
In a way I'm looking forward to growing old disgracefully.
I plan to have a B'day party with a bouncy castle, jelly and ice cream, balloons and will put a pair of sparky red sequinned tap shoes as a pressie. I can't tap dance, but have always wanted a pair
Dreading going out in the car next as people on this thread seem to be having a few probs in that area. are we wearing an invisible sign (apart from the obvious one?).
