    Today I am Grateful For:

My husband being at home with me and making me drinks.

My rabbits being happy to see me this morning.

Not having to try and work when I feel like this.

Having a good excuse to change my dental appointment.

This message board and the nice people on it.

  • Hi all
i will second the "sludgy" eyes. Although I don't get the pain that deptfreemoney tart ws describing.
am struggling with tiredness this week for no obvious reason. Maybe my body is wanting to sleep to do some healing? I can live in hope!
I'll also second the pain after the pneumonia jab. I did speak to doc this year about the flu jab as I come across so few people, was it really worth me having it. However, she pointed out it could have a devastating impact on my health if I did get it, so that's me signed up again!
It's great to come on here and feel as though you are amongst friends. I've been feeling a bit lonely this week.

In ailz stylee: things to be thankful for:
My best friend came back from a long trip abroad yesterday and phoned me on her way back from airport. Dear of her.

Have a small mystery shop to do today (show me the money!)

It's not raining and it's not too cold

I didn't leave the house yesterday, so didn't spend any money - not even on amazon or ebay!

The cat is all curled up asleep in front of the heater and looking cute.

I did a good turn for someone yesterday - that always makes me feel good that I can still contribute something to life.

Later folks, and thank you to each and everyone of you for being here.
    *maudlin* :o:D

Does anyone else get 'sludgy' eyes. Like there's a film over them that smears the vision and - I dunno - seems to make them respond more slowly. They always end up aching when they're like this.

Hope you're all in reasonable health.

Hi Everyone, I'm aching terribly this week also - everything hurts! I'm feeling exhausted so I know that I can't do anything so I won't even try to push myself - everything can wait!

ailz and everyone who mentions 'sludgy eyes' an having a film over them; about 3 years ago my eyes got so bad and could hardly focus with blurred vision a great deal of the time - I thought I was going blind! My GP referred me to an eye specialist, anyway, it turned out to be 'dry eyes' a condition where the tear glands don't produce tears! As a result there isn't any tears to wipe away the 'film' to clear the eyes (like wipers ha!)- I hope the way I have described it makes sense!! ;) I have artificial tear drops to clear it away.

Recently I have become extremely thirsty and get a lot of mouth ulcers. I wake up at night and my mouth and throat is SO dry! Speaking to my GP she said that it is 'dry mouth' (another condition!) and as I have 'dry eyes', it is connected!
  • And might I suggest that those who suffer from 'sludgy eyes' gets it looked at sooner rather than later?

I ignored mine for a long time (after all, it hardly seems important compared to some of the other symptoms - not to mention adding to the feeling of being like a hypochondriac), and over the past 3 or 4 years, have gone from having sludgy eyes to having slightly pink eyes to having eyes that at times are red raw and burning. On a bad day I look like a vampire on the change.

It was originally thought to be conjuntivitis (and sometimes it is and it needs antibiotics), but basically it's dry eye syndrome.

I now have to use artificial tears several times a day and a lubricating ointment at night.

Having ignored it for so long, I now constantly have 'hot' and 'tired' eyes and feel like I've got grit or a hair in both eyes nearly all the time.

Your eyesight is too precious to muck about with - so don't. ;)

I totally agree with somebody_else not to ignore this as a sufferer of 'dry eye syndrome' myself. I ignored it for a while untill, as I said, I thought I was going blind because I had almost constant blurred vision. The pain and itching, pink eyes etc are all symptoms.
  • TOBRUK - I also suffer from a grreat thirst, but I find I do have a tendency to dget de-hydrated, so always cary water with me.
I get horrible ulcers too! They last weeks and weeks and are like craters. Did ask Rheumy whether they could be connected to steroids, but they say not. I suspect they may just be part of having a compromised immune system.
I find that the new Igloo stuff on the market is by far the most effective in making these comfortable until they heal.
    It's much better than Bonjela.

DITTO to all that jo, I have seen the Igloo stuff being avertised. I had chickenpox 3 months ago (in my 40's!!) and the inside of my mouth was dreadful. I was given 'Difflam' oral rinse by my doctor and it helped then and so I sometimes use that.

By the way - has anyone had any innoculations recently that hurt FAR more than they should've?
I had my flu jab the other week and she offered me a (new?) pneumonia jab at the same time - which I took, why the hell not? - but OH MY WORD I suffered for it afterwards! The pneumonia job was far more painful than the flu one, but neither was at all comfortable!
Just sitting here wondering...cos my aching shoulders reminded me...

Hi Bigzippy, this ties in with the bruising with me. Both DH and I went for our flu jabs last week - his was no problem, mine bled (one very surprised nurse there  ) and since then I have a bruise about one and a half times the size of a £2 coin. I had the pneumonia jab a few years back - but still got pneumonia since like the flu jab it can't protect against all the strains. Unfortunately my ear drums perforated so now I have a hearing aid as well - at this rate I'll end up bionic :rotfl::rotfl:.

I would certainly appreciate any info from your ex on supplements. Like I said - I buy mostly from Savers and The Health Rack. The only thing I had to send for was bilberry - but DH needed pumpkin seed oil which is a lot cheaper from the States, so I got him to get me mine at the same time. I haven't bothered re-stocking on those since I haven't noticed any marked improvement with my sight. If I don't think it works after a three month trial, I stop when the bottle is empty ;). I tried the rosehip stuff is it Linusit/Linuzit? but didn't find that helped either so I'm sticking with Glucosamine and fish oils.

I have been using Co-enzyme Q10 which have given me more energy. I have been buying from Zipvit as it semed to have the cheapest suplements when I was looking. I buy others for DH and sons from there too.
