As a typist your hand/hands go into automatic mode but now my hand gets stuck and I don't know which key to press! Do you find this?

Asking for help! Me??! I think it may be something in our personalities! I have become more inclined to ask for help when I have to
Not only that, but mis-typing the same word in the same way half a dozen times. And the memory - that too had become such a problem, get half-way through a sentence and then not be able to remember what I was talking about or what I had been intending to say.

Mind you, if people get a bit narky about my problems, I do have the perfect put down. "I've got brain damage - what's your excuse?"

Thank you somebody_else, I'm glad I'm not alone with the memory problem. I too get through half-way through a sentence and get totally stuck! When I speak to someone I get stuck halfway through a sentence and then silence! I can't even remember what we were talking about! Also I have a problem of things coming out all wrong - my words don't come out in right order - dyslexic if you know what I mean. I often go to do or look for something and all of a sudden can't remember what I was going to do!!

I also have to write things down - all the time!
  • Yup, that all sounds scarily familiar, Tobruk. My 'dyslexia' got to the point that not only could I not remember how to spell a word (and bearing in mind I've always had a good vocabularly and been able to spell well) I couldn't remember how to form the letters either. That, and thinking one word, and then either saying, or typing something completely different. Or trying to say something, and not being able to remember the word(s) for what I'm trying to say.

Must go for a while, as I've got my cleaner coming today and I need to get dressed and have a tidy up before she gets here.

    Take care folks.

Hi raeh and bigzippy, I was the one who mentioned mouth ulcers, and quite often I have cold sores, so it could be because I'm run down although I believe it's part of M.E. Sore and swollen glands seem to be the norm also, not sure if anyone else suffers with this.

Yes, yes, yes! Cold sores - in my case now cranial shingles (cheeks, lips and chin) - just had them three times in ten days and can feel another lot starting up on my chin - reaching for aciclovir as we speak:eek:. These are always accompanied by swollen glands in my neck and under my chin - so looking like a hamster is the order of the day:rotfl:.
As for the dreams - yup, been there as well, very vivid, very real seeming dreams, to the point I'm not sure if I've dreamed it or it's really happened. It's about half and half at the moment whether I'm woken up by the pain in my joints, or I've woken up because of weird/peculiar/frightening dreams. Oh to be able to sleep all night and then wake up feeling like I've had a good night's sleep.

last night I dreamt I was propositioned by Michael Caine (he was much younger in my dream ;)) and was going to whisk me off to an island in the Caribbean. Unfortunately it soon degenerated into me in Victorian costume being chased by a dissolving vampire .

Before anyone asks - I have seen a trickcyclist and he said I was one of the sanest people he'd ever met - he must have met some very weird folk  :rotfl:.

hi all :D been out to the cinema to see quantum of solace with hubby and kids for eldest sons birthday... god they make those chairs uncomfy and i kept dozing off and when there was a huge bang at one point i jumped and yelled :o the kids were not impressed lol.

Did you enjoy the film? I didn't think it compared to Casino Royale - but that's a hard act to follow .

Lol @ you yelling in the cinema raeh.

I know exaclty what you mean about the eye film/floaters. My optician said floaters were normal so that was that.

I don't have a lot of ulcers, but I have had one this last week and my pain etc has been worse, so I deeply suspect there's a correlation.

Everything takes ages to heal with me too. I got scratched by OH dog (by accident) about 8 weeks ago on my hand and it's still not healed! I've got a scar where I'm sure no "normal" person would have one from such a scratch...
(Is it sad that I'm only bothered about it cos it's on my left hand and I know we'll have wedding ring photos taken?)

If you are going to be really stuck with this scratch, as someone mentioned you can cover it with make-up. I have a 2.5 inch scar on my left hand from having a large problematical mole removed and Dermacolor do a palette on this page: http://www.show-bizcentre.com/2uk/ that might help, as you can customise the colour exactly. It is very dense stuff, covers well and you can set it with a little translucent powder. Hopefully it will have disappeared by the wedding though :T.

The sore and swollen glands is definitely part of ME. It was my first noticed/most prominent symptom as I had tonsillitus for 4 months and still have a lot of trouble with glands going up and down whenever they feel like it. Lymph nodes/glands in underarms and such are just as annoying and painful.

I recognise all the above: completely forgetting what I'm saying/doing/getting halfway through doing it. It's really annoying.

As for us all being so stubborn/unable to ask for help/specific and varied in our vocab - they are all part of the make up of the average ME/fibro sufferer. Apparently it's the most common thing in the world to find an ME sufferer that is a striving high achiever - striving to get ahead etc etc. That's why ME used to be referred to as the yuppy disease -cos it was the high acheivers that got it most - so people thought it was just a burn out.

I don't think I've described that very well, but I'm too knackered to try again... so I hope it makes at least some sense! :o

As for the makeup tips for the hand scar, thanks :) Btw, aloe vera gel (in it's strongest/naturalist concentration) is excellent for scars and cuts etc of any type. It's especially awesome when it comes to burns. I burnt myself really badly all up my arm a few years ago, slathered it in aloe vera for a couple of weeks and I have no mark at all from it. I'm hoping it will work on the hand scar from Molly the dog

As for the ulcers, the most effective treatment I've found so far is to dab neat tcp onto the ulcer (using a cotton bud/q tip) a couple of times a day. They only seem to hang around 2/3 days that way.

That's something I had never tied in before - but I used to get tonsillitis regularly, every month to six weeks until I finally had them removed at 27. At the time it was either lose the tonsils or I suspect lose my job it was so bad ;).

Anyone else have TMJ - Temporomandibular Jaw Disorder? It's another quite common symptom in people with FMS and can present as either pain and/or constant clicking or popping sounds when talking or eating. It's just another of those annoying things that really irritate after a while - made worse of course by other people wondering what the noise is - I used to think only I could hear it :rotfl:.

I'm currently stuck with some inexplicable pain in my foot . it's only there when I stand on it, so for today I'm not standing or walking :D. It's excruciating and pain-killers aren't helping at all - but keeping it raised and using a hot water bottle seems to help a bit. It's on the left side of my left foot below the ankle bone and could be associated with lateral ligament problems I've had since the 70's - but it has come on all of a sudden a couple of days ago and is incredibly sore (like a boil) so I suspect it's good old fibro :o. I've got a bone cyst in the same leg and it's similar to that pain, so I hope it isn't that (crossed fingers).

Sorry for moaning - the plus side is that I can sit and read or watch a DVD since it is persistently pouring down outside, so every cloud has a silver lining :T.

They threatened to take my tonsils off me, but as I was already gonna lose my job and they couldn't actually tell me whether the tonsils were the source of the problem, I was rather reluctant to let go of them  I may also have a slight aversion to hospitals and ops ;)

I suddenly felt like I'd broken my foot last week - like the bone to my little toe had been impaled or something. It was hideous, but I just put it down to fibro and it wore off with time. I dont' even think about mentioning symptoms most of the time cos I put everything down to ME/Fibro! It's only when you guys pop up with something that I think about it really...

Oh - as for the TMJ, it comes and goes. I've always ignored it as a nothing symptom, as per... if you see what I mean?
