Tired Mum
I put carrots in the salad box of the fridge, if that helps any.
DD(14) has just come home from school after a "finance" lesson convinced that a rate of 3.75% per annum in a savings account , because it is paid monthly will give her a gigantic sum of interest at the end of a year or two.
Tried my level best to explain that either her maths teacher had misunderstood or else the class had - she is not pleased with me!!!!! She refuses to believe the interest would be one twelth of 3.75 % per month as her maths teacher cannot be wrong!
Eventually decided to let her learn the hard way!!!
Irony is that the "finance" lessons were so students did not get into debt in the future!!!!
Made evening meal in the Remoska, roast potatoes reheated from yesterday, some pork a la leftovers and some sausages with assorted veg done on the hob and cheese sauce. The meal was "Yum!" according to DD!
Almost anything seems to be wolfed down if I make it in the moski!
Big wave to grannybroon!"This site is addictive!"

I did ask yesterday about how to store a sack of carrotts without them going soft and horrid too quickly but no one answered me so i will try again today
Ahem, from my gardening book,
Lift before heavy frost, cut off leaves 1cm above carrot, reject all diseased and damaged Carrots. Lay carrots in layers in boxes or tubs, each layer seperated by 1cm of sand, sifted ashes or light soil. Put in frost free shed or cellar, cover with fine mesh if mice likely to be a problem.

Evening peeps
i`ve just been playing at catch up as i`ve been so busy that i`ve not been online at all since yesterday morning. I`ve just read yesterdays and todays thread and my mind is all over the place.
Candygirl - So sorry to hear of your loss ((((HUGS)))) for you and your family at this difficult time, i am thinking of you all.
Tired mum - If you don`t have much space for the carrots try putting them in a paper sack with sand or soil mixed in and put the paper sack inside a big waterproof bin liner and stand it outside in a sheltered spot where it will be cool.
Many Happy Returns Penny Penguin - hope that you had a fantastic day:bdaycake:
Well i`ve spent much of the day up ladders trying to sort out my vertical blinds and cutain poles as the pole was closer to the wall than the blinds so closing any curtains was a complete no no.
Two trips to the diy store and various different brackets later i have finally sussed it. I`ve drilled all new holes and fitted some more brackets and now all is well.
Or at least it was until i opened the curtains that have been stored for the last two years the thermal lining has all ripped away from the material and it looks such a mess, i`ve resigned myself to buying new curtains after all.
Squiddly - i remember you mentioning new curtains as an excuse to go shopping several days ago so now i shall be goingi was going to alter the old ones but there`s no chance of that now.
I`m off for a cuppa and an early night i think as i`ve an early start in the morning.
Night peeps.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Evening all,
Have just finished reading thread now...know that its a bit late but Happy Birthday to PenPen and Ms Cas:bdaycake::bdaycake:hope that you have both had a lovely day.
We are celebrating here that Ulick does not have to have blood taken again until 29th when he goes to the day hospital to have physio and speech therapy...feels like we will be on holiday!
Shredded and salted some red cabbage to-day to make some pickle tomorrow, did a quick marie-recipe with some so that we could have it with mackerel for dinner...and then forgot about it when having dinner...soooo clever!
Bought some cabbage plants to-day which will hopefully go in the ground to-morrow and some seeds which Ulick will add to the spinach, lettuce, scallions already thriving in the greenhouse.
Cold and windy here all day, turned to rain this afternoon...lovely!
Good to see you Haribo.
Hugs to all who are in need or want, welcome to any newbies and congratulations to those who are celebrating

Tired mum have you any freezer space to chop/julienne some and blanch then freeze?
Other suggestion would be store in a cool shed/outhouse/garage if you don't have a box of peat handy..
Other option is do the kids have a sandpit?? Sand is good for storing carrots in layer as you would do in peat0 -
not much sun today but very windy and dry
already dried 2 loads on the line :j so one happy bunny
another load in WM nearly ready to go out too
rest is on the airer in conservatory ready for any sun we might have tomorrow
Happy Birthday to PenPen and Ms Cas, hope you've had a good day

Penny-Pincher!! wrote: »Morning Guys!
DD is at opticians with OH as her glasses broke yesterday and as you know she is blind literally without them. She is in her uniform but will depend on how long it will take as last time it took 3 hrs to get the special lenses as they has been scratched badly when they dropped. OH also had his flu jab this morning.
do you mind me asking what her prescription is
My DD is also very shortsighted and when we need new lenses we have to wait 2 weeks for them, maybe I need to change opticians?Penny-Pincher!! wrote: »We are away Thursday for a few days so have some stuff to get together by then and lists to make. Just found out that there is no oven there so will take the Remoska-do you think it will travel well?
