Morning ladies!
Candy girl - my heart goes out to you and I will keep you and your family in my prayers and thoughts..
PenelopePenguin wrote:MS Diva - someone once posted on here that if you can't be bothered with housework, you should keep a row of "Get Well" cards on your mantelpiece - poeple will assume you've not been well enough to cleanThis is a better suggestion than you know... my OH birthday cards are still on the mantlepeice from the 27th September and no-one has had to polish it since..:rotfl:
Ok, I am not going to vent because a lot of what I want to say has been said, but I don't see why this thread cannot be full of pages of chat as long as somewhere within each post is something OS.. It doesn't have to be a lot as my recent posts have shown! I know I keep saying the same thing to people, but it's how I feel..Thank you for those who enjoyed the pics on yesterdays thread.
Squiggly, Essex girl and janny - thank you, I was so amazed at how quickly they all went red after weeks of being green...- just took last week with all the sunshine to do it! They took a lot of time and love actually, and probably would have been cheaper to just buy them but OMG the satisfaction of growing them is fab and I still have LOADS more chillis. Way too many to deal with really...anyone want some?
Pooky - just read your post yesterday and totally agree.
essex-girl - good luck with the job application honey. I would love to work in a library!
Gers -. I really enjoyed your post, it made me smile
PenelopePenguin and Miss Cas!
Today I was going to make fish pie but realised I haven't defrosted the pollock or the prawns so think I will have to think again and I better think fast as I rashly said I had this weeks meals organised! I think a frozen mince meal will be the best idea, that is easy enough.
Was up late again last night talking to my friend in America - he is able to eat real food and keep it down now so that is good and means he is getting stronger again.
Ok, off to rearrange my non existant meal plan and show my face on the flylady board.to all who need them and congrats to anyone who is celebrating today.

Good daily to all fellow os'ers
Not much o/s going on here today as I just cant get going despite having had 2 walks with my doggies in the lovely autum breeze. I have the bm to put on and sausage cassarole to make for tea but will do that later. I think I have this os lark pretty much sewn up now (no pun intended lol!) Anyhow I think I need to depart the os board as I seem to have an uncanny nack for putting my size 4's in it and upsetting people which I hate doing. So thanks to everyone for the inspiration, the tips the hugs and the laughs. I will miss here but as I say its time to go.
Hugs to all who need one and have a lovely day...the sun is shining after all xxJAN GC- £155.77 out of £200FEB GC £197.31 out of £180:o. MARCH GC - out of £200

Glad to see the Daily seems to be settling down. Meanmarie was quite right yesterday when she said that it will return to normal if people stop with the comments about it and then those who wish to stick around can continue to enjoy it.
Have a good day everyone.

Hi all
Happy birthday Penelope Penguin:beer: Have a good one
I am off to work soon so not much time for anything today....
I am pleased that I have managed to post all but one of my e bay parcels and the house is tidy-ish so no need to do that.
I have done some washing but am using the TD to dry it as I don't trust my OH to remember to bring the washing in if I peg it out:mad:
I am leaving him a nice list of jobs though.... He doesn't know that yet lol
i have picked out all the flooring for the new house today, the carpet guy rang at ten this morning (I wasn't even dressed) and said he was on his way, I am so proud of myself that I didn't have to worry about the way the house looked - just had to sort myself out:rotfl: :rotfl:
Suppose I better get ready for work now... enjoy your day everyone.
PS Thriftlady, thanks for your nice comments on yesterdays daily.0 -
I managed to get some whoopsies last Friday, so the freezer is getting full now.

beansprouts
spinach leaves
boiled sweet chestnuts
two types of mushroom
green tomatoes
left-over kidney beans
followed by whoopsied lactose free yoghurt (was nice)
lavender ice cream
Exotic fare for about 35p !!!0 -

Hugs to all and congrats and things.
The dippy meter has been remarkably low all day and has just suddenly flipped to high, and am not as calm as I would like. In fact, I feel all dippy all over. It may be something to do with being on a high dose of antidepressants and suddenly stopping but my emotions have been all over.
Strange happenings are happening at dear heart's place of work and I don't know what they are. He doesn't seem to think he is at the end of his employment there, and in fact stated he was likely to be starting early and finishing late and all I could think of was thank goodness for casseroles. However he does seem upset about something and I don't know what to do for the best. I am trying to convince him to move and I have previously posted about the problems of moving. But it would cut over an hour off his working day and I am worrying about him so much.
And then, then! I was saying that November was a shipping order for grocery delivery and he said fine and I said it was all the basics to last us to January/February with goodies being bought in December and he said fine and I asked him if he fancied anything in particular and he said fresh vegetables. I was silent for a few moments. Apart from the wonder of trying to work out how to keep fresh veg that long, there was the tea that he had so kindly made, with him completely ignoring fresh carrots, fresh butternut squash, frozen broccoli, frozen peas, frozen sweetcorn and tinned tomatoes to use an onion with tinned potatoes (:o I love their taste and texture) and tinned condensed mushroom soup to have with the chops. I did ask what sort of veg, and he said carrots. It was not the most inspirational comment I have ever heard. So I would really appreciate anyone's viewpoint in adding fresh fruit and veg to our diet. Sigh. We don't really eat dessert, and dear heart loathes supermarket shopping and I am not good at getting out so I am a little concerned about the supply as much as the cookery.
I just feel completely baffled about where to start with that.
The loaf I made in the breadmaker on Saturday never got eaten, so I am going to turn it into breadcrumbs (I have to get the courage up to work out the blender attachment as I don't have a grater) and those breadcrumbs are going to be incorporated into coconut and cherry cake and a fruit cake. I am going to do a nice pile of mash with (bought) fishcakes and fresh carrots with parsley. I need to get the washing machine going and I thought I would spend some time clearing out the pit formerly known as the dining room.
Well, I feel a lot better about getting that off my chest, but I am so worried about dear heart that it is significantly affecting my dippiness meter.
BUT I did take little bear as far as the shop this morning, after it stopped raining. He looked gorgeous in his new coat. He has been so poorly this weekend so I will probably try the market (trip on the bus and back  ) perhaps on Thursday or Friday, depending on how he is.
On the other hand, I told dear heart the monthly cost of our heating bill. He went rather quiet and has since been remarkably disciplined about turning off lights after him :rolleyes:Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -
Hello everyone!
Having trouble trying to login - but managed it at last!! Wanted to come on and wish PennyPenguin and MissCas very HAPPY BIRTHDAYS!!! before the day was out!
I have officially been given the keys to our neighbours allotment so we are now part of the team and will be starting to learn all about growing etc! So I will have to get over to the GreenFingered Board and pick up all those tips!:D
I did all my OS stuff yesterday, so have spent the day trying to get Travel Insurance quotes for my mum. Not easy as she is now 75, the premiums go sky high! Even though her renewal has jumped up £60, it still looks like its the cheapest so far!
Went looking for carpet for my mum too - she wants a pattern one - Do you know how hard it is to find pattern ones nowadays?everything is plain beige! Maybe I should do some potatoe stencils on a plain one:rotfl:
Candygirl - sorry to hear about your dad xx
Have a good day all xx0 -
Hi all
Here we go, playing catch-up after the weekend.
Candygirl sorry to hear about your Dad. Don’t know what else to say; I think others have already said it for me.
PennyPincher all the very best for the forthcoming hosp treatment(s).
SnowyOwl, I hope Dylan’s OK, poor little pudd’n.
Sunnyday you’re not the only one who doesn’t like city driving. I haven’t driven at all since last June, and am dreading having to do the 2 mile journey to my GP appointment on 11th November. Mr LW has taken a day’s leave so that I can have the car, so maybe I can get him to take me.
Blairweech what is mars vodka? Is this something I should know how to do?
PennyPenguin and MissCas Happy Birthday.:bdaycake: :bdaycake:
Well, the weekend didn’t go as planned.I think I fall into the “wannabe OS” category. The grass didn’t get cut, and I was too tired, achey and downright fed up to do any unfamiliar recipes. Did do quite a bit of tried & tested baking though.
We thoroughly enjoyed the performance by Damh the Bard last night – Mr LW even bought three of his CDs!I felt a bit awkward, being the only wheelchair-user there, but at least the venue had decent disabled access.
For about the first time ever, I have something approaching a meal plan. Second half of yesterday’s quiche for dins tonight. Tuesday: veggie stew, as there’s a parsnip that wants using. Wednesday: Mr LW working from home, so will make soya Shepherd Spy, which we can have the second half of Thursday, when he’ll be home late. Friday… um…. There I sort of got stuck. Possibly nut loaf with rice and sweet’n’sour sauce (HM of course).
I’m not very pleased with Mr LW at the mo; he broke one of my favourite glasses this morning. I just hope he’s hoovered up all the shards, as I don’t ever wear anything on my feet indoors (they hurt like hell if I even wear socks or slippers) and I don’t want glass in them.
I can’t be too cross with him though – he offered to get a bit of shopping lunchtime – then forgot to take the list!I think he’s having one of “those” days. Anyway, it was only a few items, so I texted it to him, and he’s confirmed that he got it all.
Sorry, this has turned out to be a long post - anyway, hope you're all having a good day.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
