Hi everyone, Not too good today so not done much. We went to the farm shop to get eggs, they are nearly always double yolks, and organic veg. Then we went to a scruffy sort of cash & carry place that sells lots of stuff which has passed it's sell by date eg tins of fruit, or short-dated stuff. I get some amazing bargains from there. In about March this year he was selling M&S organic Christmas cakes for £2.99 and the sell by date is Feb. 09. I have 3 stashed away for presents this year. Today I got coffee in catering packs and some chocolates while OH stocked up on the awful biscuits that he likes, custard creams etc. 20p each.
If anyone lives in the Doncaster, S!!!!horpe, Bawtry area PM if you want the details.
My only bit of OS today was to blend some soup and put it in the freezer.
    Have a nice evening.

    Elona,

When I do jacket spuds in the Remoska I !!!!! them all over, then zap them in the micro wave on high for 2 -3 minutes, then stick them in the remmy, they take 15 - 25 minutes then to finish off and the skins are nice and crispy.......just poke them with a fork to make sure they are cooked through........I often do cheesy BS, scrape out the cooked spud, mix with a knob of butter, grated cheese salt and pepper, stuff the mic back into the skin and dust with paprika pepper then put them back in the remmy for about 10 minutes................

    Good morning all
I ve just come on to say bye as i have left it a few days to see how the thread went and it is apparent that i dont really have much in common with it anymore as i dont seem to be very OS I will look in from time to time to make sure you are all ok but for now i think i need to bow out
so to all those who need one please take a hug and many thanks to all who have given me support and encouragment over the last few years thank you

Tired Mum, TBH I feel exactly the same. I don't know what I am allowed to post and not:confused: I have been a member of this forum for over 4 years and have always been "me". Now, I feel like I shouldnt be posting what I normally would be. I try to be OS as much as I can be.

I am going in for the biggest operation of my life in 2 weeks and want support from my friends here on OS not in DT but feel very let down with the course that we've had to take.

I know where your coming from.

    Take Care

  • Good afternoon everyone

Tired mum - as everyone else has said, there's no need to leave   That goes for you, too Haribo ;)

DH has had a day off, so we've had out twice-yearly sort-out-of-the-garage-and-outbuildings  We've filled the wheelie bin, taken some stuff to be recycled, and been out for tea and cake (DH's treat :j ). I've chopped a lot of wood, too, to the woodshed is full :T

We had HM tomato soup for lunch, with red onion bread from the freezer. Think I may make some more of that for tomorrow. We're having a gammon joint on sunday, so I'll take a look at that recipe, Pink - lentil and bacon soup is one of DS's favourites :D

We've been offered some more hens; the landlord of the people who keep them has objected to her having them in the garden, so they have to go  I'd love to, but not sure if we have room for more atm :o

My best friend has invited us for supper, so all 4 of us are of to hers this evening. We can walk there, but won't stay late, as we have the children, so can come back and light a log fire later.

Enjoy the rest of your days, Penny. x

I saw a fold out airer thing which was like metal tubes that heat up, does anyone know if they're any good?

We got rid of our tumble drier when the last of the offspring left home & bought one of these. I don't recommend them - it dries things where they touch the heated rails but the rest doesn't dry any quicker than on an airer. A waste of money I'm afraid, I'd just buy a cheap airer as an alternative to the TD for things you don't need quickly.

PennyPincher - whether I'm supposed to or not I am sending you the BIGGEST (((HUG))) because you deserve it. The forthcoming operation must be a real worry for you. Also, I'm so glad I'm not the only one struggling to post on here now - I wondered whether or not to say anything but Tired Mum's post gave me a head start.

    ((((Hugs)))) Penny pincher!

It might not be strictly OS but what the heck you need one! You can pm me anytime hon!

I too feel very wary. Might just look in and read and see how it goes as to whether I will comment on the daily again. Not a hissy fit (just don't have the energy for those lol) Just not able to weather the uncomfortable atmosphere at the moment tbh.

This all kicked off when I was rushed (frightened stiff) into hospital and seems a bit OTT after that. Thank you to the 2 people that did comment on that btw :A

OS today? I am working my way through a huge pile of "Make do and Mending" for dd ;)

Thanks to csarina and mummysaver for the tip on the moski!

Found YS salmon so that is in the moski ( with lemon juice and wrapped in foil) with mixed fresh veg on the hob for tea.

DD(14)was starving when she got home from school and could not wait so she had "a la leftover" chicken, roast potatoes and green beans.

I am having a can of soup as I feel a bit odd and don't want to eat a full meal ( very unusual for me lol!)

Just saw mioliere and pennyp's posts and know what they mean.I feel uncharacteristically tongue tied now as well!

Just wanted to send a huge and very gentle hug to Pennypincher and to wish her the very best of luck with her operation in a couple of weeks.

Hug to Lame Wolf too and anyone else who won't be offended at the offer!

Have the "fun" task of looking for a new winter coat for DD tomorrow but as we did this a week or two ago for her big sister we have an idea where to look. DH will give us both a lift to Monks Cross and I intend to just take things slowly if I still feel a bit off colour.

Have wrapped up presents for both DDS 23rd birthday on Sunday and made a start on a few bits and bobs for Christmas for all four daughters.

We sometimes visit a shop a bit like that in Castleford which also sells sacks of potatoes onions and fresh veg, as well as biscuits, cakes, sweets etc.

Apologies if the post does not make much sense as I keep missing out letters or adding them at random.

Going to have a nice old fashioned cup of tea and see you later.

    Catznine

I just saw your post and hope you are feeling a bit better or else reassured. Don't want to pry or harp on.

If anyone wants a laugh I have just very carefully refilled the hand wash dispenser in the bathroom with bubble bath - a third the cost of handwash- only to find I was so dopey and lightheaded, I have filled it with shampoo instead! EEK!

Shush and nobody tell DDS!!!! wink!

  • Hi all

PENPIN aww honey big hugs to you.
    TIREDMUM please don't go.

    WELCOME NEW PEEPS.

Have been down at the allotment most of the day. Have put my onions and garlic in and made a start on clearing the rest of the rubbish. I really am going to ache tomorrow. Want to put some lettuces down there under fleece next week and see if I can encourage a crop to grow.

I feel really cold tonight. Out for tapas in a bit.

    Have a good evening all.

Tiredmum, kathy, pen pin and catz, I too feel uncomfortable with the way the thread is at the moment, its just not the warm and welcoming place it once was, and tbh, on the days when I work I dont do an awful lot of os, and I am struggling to know what to say, I will keep posting on the thread for a little while, but if I am struggling what to know what to say I really cant see the point. Again no hissy fit, just stumped for words.

Pen pin, huge gentle hugs to you xx

catz, hugs to you too, I did not want to pry, hope all is ok xx
