OS Daily Friday 17th October

Hi, this is the OS Daily thread for Friday 17th. It is an 'over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start does just as well.
Morning peeps
Lovely Friday today and it`s my day off *does a little dance around the living room*
I woke about an hour ago on the sofa where i`d fallen asleep, there was still a half glass of gin on the table which has gone in the fridge for later.
Today i have lots of things to do the bedroom and bathroom need scrubbing and i need to get some of my enormous ironing pile shifted, i shall sort through it first and see if there is anything that can be put away first.
After that i need to alter at least one pair of curtains, i`ve decided to alter the old ones as it`s so long since we had any up that they should look new anyway, it will be a long task as they are 90"x90" and i have no sewing machine.
I`ve finally found somewhere that sells pectin so i shall be going to fetch some later i made a special trip to Morrisons but they didn`t stock it, i rang the co op and they said no too along with various others like spar. I was beginning to think i`d never find any but then i tried Sainsburys website and they do stock it in a liquid form so that is where i`ll be later.
I have lots of recipes kicking about on loose pieces of paper so i need to sort through them and get the folder in order and hopefully whilst i`m doing this i shall find something that i fancy for tea we`ve not been very good with the mealplan this week as i`ve been so tired after w*rk that i`ve just been falling asleep at various times so some of the saved meals can move to next weeks planner.
There is bacon to use up so i shall be making a big pan of lentil & bacon soup later and a couple of loaves and some rolls too, the dw has just finished and needs emptying but the wm is only part way through the cycle, i do hope that the weather is nice and dry and breezy so that it dries quickly.
Taurusgb - How did you manage with the cake? I remember that you were a bit nervous about icing it.
Lame wolf - ((((HUGS)))) to you, hope that you`re feeling a bit better today.
Sybil - Lovely to see you back
I shall pop back later to catch up.
Have a fantastic Friday everyone.

Hi, I've been away from the boards for quite a while but have been re-reading "The Money Diet" and am now trying to get back into an MSE frame of mind. So I'll be popping on this board in particular quite a bit as I'm keen to try some OS money saving ideas.

Good Morning All
Very chilly start to the day here and the heating is on, means I can do a load of washing though and hopefully get it dry.
Not too much OS going on as am having another office day. No reason to go out today so going to get loads done.
Found a bit of steak in the freezer yesterday so will have that for lunch. Have chicken in leek and mushroom sauce for dinner.
Thats it for now, have a great Friday.

Morning.
I missed yesterday as I fell over in the garden and knackered my neck and I could only turn it to the right. It's not much better today, but I will live.
Daughter's 19th today. It's also 19 years since some earthquake in California as I remember watching the news on TV in Milwaukee,USA where she was born. Those were the days.....:o Talk about Money saving. The day she was born we were Bible school students and had one cent to our name. The hospital bill was paid for as we agreed to be patients in the pre natal clinic. So you get examined by student doctors learning the trade.. Anyway God did provide for us in many ways.... Fun times.
Anyway. My last day and then 4 days off. In court today for 2 cases, so hopefully we should see some guilty pleas.
Food and birthday cake tonight. Petrol down to 99.9p, so things moving in the right direction.
Have a nice dayNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Morning everyone.
(((Hugs))) to all in need.
Dinner last night was fish that needed using up so we're having sausagemeat burgers tonight that we would have had last night if the fish didn't have to be eaten, if that makes sense!
Today will be spent food shopping then organising my packing for going to my Mum's from Sunday to Friday. I'll be too busy tomorrow having my hair cut and visiting friends. I must also find time to make some cakes to keep DH stocked up in my absence. I think I have enoug meals in the freezer for him plus there will be plenty of bacon and eggs. It's only four days he'll spend on his own so I'm sure he'll cope!
LameWolf - hope you are feeling better today.
N9EAV - Ouch! Hope you're not in so much pain now.
Well, I'd better go and have my shower.
Will call back later - hope everyone has a good Friday.

Morning all,
Off to w**k again today, will shove a wash on before i go, and hang it on the airer in the conservatory, I find it is nearly dry by the time I get in then, still no heat on here, but I think the bills will be going down soon which will help a lot of people, n9eav, I am glad the petrol has gone down too, re your neck, it really does help to keet it warm, wrap a scarf around it if possible, and a long soak in a hot bath will help.
Pasta for tea, will bung in some sour cream which needs using up. And as its friday its wine day  .
Lots of people still missing, Hester, hope you are ok xx
Hugs to all, have good days all xx0 -
Morning,
Just caught up on y/days thread, FLOSS, I'll try the apple braid, if I can find it. LAMEWOLF, mmm, apple wine sounds good to me. MORWENNA, I will definatly do the dried apple rings, I could chunk them up and mix with other dried fruit and nuts, a good snack.
DH is stiring so I will let him make me a coffee, I'm all heart.
Stayed in for Conservation inspector y/day, he didn't turn up so have to stay in again today, saves me shopping and spending I suppose.
Plan to make cauli cheese and HM burgers. I bought 6 YS caulies for 30p each blanched and froze.
DD2 goes for her scan today, hopefully she will find out if Dibbles is a boy or girl.
Hope all poorlies are feeling better.
SMOKY, am missing your posts, how are you and the L O's. Did you manage to move into your new bedroom? (((hugs))) of the gentleist kind.0 -
Morning all
Chilly here this morning. Have put the heating on for a short while to take the chill off.
N9EAV hope your neck is better soon. Happy Birthday to your DD:beer: .
LAMEWOLF depression is a terrible thing, feel free to pm me if you need to.
Big hugs to anyone who needs one today.
Spent most of yesterday in the garden and allotment. Have picked the last of the toms, those that aren't ripe are in a casserole dish by the french doors.
Today is a tip run with garden rubbish then to the allotment to plant onions and garlic. Then shall probably have a tidy around at home or do some more gardening as it's dry.
Lunch is left-over beef stew and dumplings. OH is taking us out tonight for tapas.
Have a lovely day all.

Morning everyone
I did try to get on late last night (or maybe it was early this morning over here), but the post went into the ether again:rolleyes: . Life turned a bit hectic on Wednesday afternoon when one of my neighbours (68) had to be take to A&E. She does suffer from asthma but usually quite mildly, however she had been to see a Doctor on Tuesday morning and had had her inhaler changed and been give strong antibiotics for a "bad chest infection". By Wednesday tea time she looked awful, and took her down to A&E, She was categorised as an orange category, next to the top, but ambulance after ambulance of road traffic accidents kept coming in, so she was seen nearly 3 hours later, 2 hours after that they came out to let one of us in to see her to find out they were keeping her in, it was almost Pneumonia she had. They let her out about 7pm last night, so after taking her friend down to see her, and then fetching her home it has thrown any schedule out of the window. I did manage to turn the ironing mountain into a large hill, but that must be cleared today as I have my cousin coming to stay with us on Sunday for 10 days.
OS went out of the window:o , DH & I ended up with scrambled egg with beans at 11 on Wednesday night. Last night we were out at our normal Thusday night meal/dance/sing-along. Must stay off the bread at lunch time as waist is not behaving.
Bit confused by the Gordon Ramsey/Martin challenge, a dish for £5, that is over the top surely, and a dessert for a £5, doubt if any of us would spend that if not a very special occasion.
Someone was referring to organising menu's the other day, I have started adding mine into Word, and then categorising them, and using the headings, and titles to make a index at the front automatically. (it's in Table of Contents). If anyone want any more info then ask. Means copying and pasting them from MSE saves typing.
Moiliere - The connection is now back, but it still keep dropping into local - believe it must be noise on the line, but hard to convince Telefonica, so the option is put up with it at 15€ a month when here or go for broadband at 40€ month all year. No brainer for the Oser, eh! Only though process is to try to con Telefonica I will consider BB if they can stablise my line!!
(((hugs))) everyone, sorry bit I think the thread has lost something now tbh.
Today I need to attack the ironing before it warms up too much, so better go.

Went out yesterday to take monter for her latest eye appointment. They're happy with her progress so far.....ie, gone from can't see initially to using the eye in tandem with the other one. But they're gong to keep an eye (no pun intended) on her, so another appointment in 6 months.
We had a bit of a disaster, as our letter said 1.45 for the appointment and their book said 15.20. They managed to squeeze us in though early (thank goodnes).
I also had a bit of money spare and so popped into the local butchers and bought a large stash of lincolnshire sausages. We had a few for tea and the rest went straight into the freezer. What we'll do for tonight I don't know, as I might be out....but then I might not. I'll think of something. jackets perhaps.
Oh thought he'd lost is wallet yesterday and he hunted everywhere for it. Promptly reported his cards lost, and then found it in the car. So he's now on a cash free diet. Won't do him any harm at all.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move
Lily contracted Strep B Meningitis Dec 2006  Now seemingly a normal little monster.
Love to my two angels that I will never forget.0
