Good morning all
I ve just come on to say bye as i have left it a few days to see how the thread went and it is apparent that i dont really have much in common with it anymore as i dont seem to be very OS I will look in from time to time to make sure you are all ok but for now i think i need to bow out
so to all those who need one please take a hug and many thanks to all who have given me support and encouragment over the last few years thank you
tired mum,
Please don't leave the thread...it feels as though you've been posting on the Daily 'forever', and you would be badly missed. I think the idea is that the Daily should be a little more Old Style orientated but we're still meant to have a bit of fun and certainly there to support for people who post here. I don't know what I would have done without you and many others when ds1 was rushed into hospital last year and when ds2 had his operation. :A None of that was Old Style but I can't tell you what your (and everyone elses) support meant to me. I'm definitely not the most Old Style person in the world. I love cooking, gardening and hunting for bargains, but I'm selective with my old stylingand I hate housework with a vengence! Please, please reconsider. :kisses3: There are a number of 'faces' missing at the moment and I really wish you would all start posting again. You are the people who made the thread what it is.
Anyway, back to Old Style. I nipped down to the shops and got a cooked bacon joint from tesco for £1.98. There's loads of meat on it and it's in the slow cooker now. I'm making a sort of slow cooker adaptation of this recipe: smoked bacon and lentil soupI should really make some bread to go with it, but I'm not in the mood so might ask Mr Pink to pick up a crusty loaf on his way home from work.

Good morning Chums,
alls well so far in my world. My lovely sis-in-law went home today with strict instructions that I must not do too much, or raise my arm up until all the stitches have dissolved .How will I know? as the line goes from the front under my arm and halfway around the back of meI spoke to the breast care nurses yesterday (they are brilliant ) when they phoned to see how I was doing, and they say that 4-6 weeks and I can get my prosthesis fitted, so I will at last look fairly normal by Christmas. I had already bought an outfit to wear at Christmas so fingers crossed all will be well by then.
Cheers JackieO xx
Jackie, I wondered if you had seen this thread about the bras from Asda for post-surgery use...

Tired Mum
Don't go!
DH says I have been struggling to breathe and snoring all night so I feel very guilty!:o
Pouring hot drinks down my throat as I feel as I am coming down with something and want to ward it off.
Wrapped some presents for DDs birthday on Sunday and made DH some poached eggs on toast for lunch.
Just had a cup of tea and one of Twink's hobobs.
Need to pop out to the bank and also post a book I sold on Amazon.
Might have some elderberry syrup later and just go up to bed with a hot water bottle and a good book later.
JackieO
Hope the stitches dissolve quickly for you and things get easier.
No idea what to cook for tea tonight - don't feel up to chopping lots of stuff etc-might scrub a couple of large potatoes and try baked potatoes for the first time in the Remoska - then add lots of butter, grated cheese or baked beans.
See you all later - big hug"This site is addictive!"

Hi everyone
After all the fuss about this thread, I have popped over to have a look and it seems like a really welcoming place so I thought I would join you if thats ok?
I am OS in training! I have two children and am just about to move into a brand new house. At the moment I am cleaning my house from top to bottom and back again as I hate moving when the previous owners haven't cleaned up. I am also doing all the little jobs that I have been putting off for years so that the new people dont have to do them (Lesson learned - dont put off jobs anymore:rotfl: )
I have a small allotment but no clue what to do with it.
I menu plan but never manage to stick to it and always end up popping to the shops mid week for stuff I don't need.
I do cook a lot from scratch but not everything and my ds is a very fussy eater!
OS today - I have just used freecycle to give away my kid's playhouse from the garden, the kids that came to pick it up with their parents looked so pleased with it that I feel all nice now. I have listed loads of stuff on e bay too. Dont forget its free listing weekend this weekend so if you are going to put anything on you might as well sort it this weekend.
I have also cleaned out my cleaning cupboard and realised how much stuff I have that I really don't need as long as I have my trusty star drops.
When I pick the kids up from school, I think I might take them to the library after reading about it on yesterdays thread.
For tea, we are having made pizza as OH is at work till seven.
Bye for now:wave:0 -
Afternoon all,
Thanks for the chocolate cake in a mug link Pink (link pink) I had a read of it and decided that the cake wasn't going to be chocolatey and gooey enough for me, so I had a ham sandwich for lunch instead;)
I'm feeling very pleased with myself -have made some fab looking fairy cakes not unlike the ones here but in slightly more subtle shades of peach, apricot and lime with matching jelly beans. The secret is to use food colouring pastes rather than those liquid ones.
I decided on salmon for supper tonight so that is defrosting. I'll serve it plain with spiced up potato wedges and veg/salad.
Tired Mum, as Pink says chat hasn't been outlawed it's just that the main thrust of the thread is old style stuff. Please don't go:)
Stressedoutmum you are sweet:j
Welcome Sickofhavingnomoney you've come to the right place;)0 -
Candy, thanks for the tip about the caulis, never got them in the end, as I popped into Somerfield and they were ys-ing like mad! Got 4 turkey legs marked at various prices from 74p to about 90p and the nice girl on the till just said she'd put them all through at the price of the cheapest! Also got some turkey breast steaks at half price. With all that lot there was no way I'd have been able to fit caulis in my freezer as well!
Anyway, now have turkey legs in the sc, focaccia cooker in moski and spare dough turned into a lovely deep pan pizza, and chopped the reduced plums I got yesterday and they're in the jam maker.
Whizzed around with the hoover, did the bins as ds seems to have forgotten that they're his job, and now having a cuppa, a browse and watching James Bond.
Whoever was going to try baked pots in their moski, turn them over once the tops have crisped so that the bottoms get crispy too! They come out really well.
Glad to hear you're doing so well JackieO, don't do too much though, else we'll tell on you to your sis in law!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -

Excellent, I didn't know that.. Thank you very much. Might be able to get rid of some of the rubbish that the previous owner of our house left behind in the shed!

Hi everyone.
My thanks to everyone who has offered words of encouragement – it really helps!:o
I’m a little better today, still no enthusiasm for anything, but I’ll get there. I’ve been on anti-depressants for the last 36 years, so it’s nothing new for the Black Dog to get me sometimes.
Mr LW insisted that we go to the Mensa meeting last night, and I think that did me a bit of good; and he volunteered to cook lunch today, as he’s working from home. Egg and chips, which although simple, was delicious (it always is when someone else has cooked it, I think!)
I’ll try and get back to proper OS stuff over the weekend, I promise. If we don’t get rain, I’d really like to get the grass cut, and we have our usual weekend tasks to do; and I hope to feel up to doing some “experimental” cooking/baking.
Heidiboo, what’s St Peter’s Mud Pie? It sounds intriguing!
Mummysaver I second D&DD’s suggestion that Red spuds are better just now; I got a sack of them from the market a few weeks ago, and they’re keeping just fine.
Well, I gotta go, Mr LW is finishing up for the day in a few mins (he started at 07:00 this morning) and we have to nip out to the surgery to pick up our prescriptions, then suss out where the hall is for Sunday night - we've been offered free tickets to see Damh the Bard.:jIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Hello everyone, hope you and yours are happy and healthy.
Going home to my parents' for a few days, so lots of being spoilt and not much OSing
I did make a shepherd's pie last night from scratch, which i was very proud of! I put dried breadcrumbs (made from crusts toasted in a pan) on top of the mash before the cheese, and it made it really nice and crunchy :T
Going now to attempt to use up the stuff in the fridge for snacks on the train, lots of love and hugs Carol xxChifundo Uzuri Siochain"All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost" - JRR Tolkien~~ Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, but love leaves a memory no one can steal ~

Hi all. It's been a horribly busy day today chasing two of DH's customers who haven't paid when they said they would, plus I had to do my food shopping and found that the supermarket has moved everything which makes me hopping mad! This is my first chance to sit at the computer since early this morning.
I haven't read all the thread but, Tired Mum, I hope you give it a bit longer. I'll be honest with you - I feel exactly the same. I struggle to keep coming up with only OS stuff to write about, especially as I've been so busy with other things that my OSing has been minimal this week. I don't know whether or not to send (((hugs))) to people; I always used to try and remember those who are in need because it is comforting to receive a hug, virtual or not, when you feel ill or unhappy. I'm going away on Sunday and will come back on here when I return on Friday evening and see how the thread seems then. I've really enjoyed the virtual community here and feel as if I have made many very good friends and I am so grateful for all the advice, MSE tips and support I've had since I joined. Where I used to think this was the best thread, I now think it's the thread with the best people on it, IYKWIM!
