Poo bins: Get on to your local parish council :) In our village it's them that pays for them and erects them. We have about 5 I think in our little village and they're a god send if you ask me :)

Well OH has just taken out ours for their last walk BEFORE the stupid fireworks start and guess what, as he drove off I can hear some already being set off. Diggs is bomb proof but Ralph will scuttle back to the car if he hears them. About time fireworks were banned unless in a supervised display I reckon.

Me too definitely! I guess i'm lucky that someone locks the gate to the park behind my flat at nights or I can imagine them in there setting them off. I can't hear any here yet, but I think i'll try Chaya now. Thing is she will ONLY do her business at the end of the road & i'm not sure whether to risk walking her up there, she is terrified if they go off!

    Hey Tigerlily hows Chaya?

Doing really well thanks! Today the cat when she went out jumped onto the arm of the chair Chay was sat on instead of walking along the windowsill so she's definitely not scared of her lol

Chaya should be about out of season, no male dogs have even looked at her when we've seen any, she's not been on proper walks just round the flats & such but none have bothered or turned up on the doorstep & she's shown no signs whatsoever of wanting to get to them (Or is she gonna suprise me & have a 4 week season & go horny next week? lol)

She begins a basic socialisation & obedience class next week with the village dog club, I think there's about 14 in total, Pups & Dogs, so she won't know who to growl at first! Monday is the groomers for a claw clip & good bath then if she's ok i'll do that after, not sure where to clip her claws as most are dark so the groomer can show me that.

Once she's out of season, well once the 3 weeks are up on Monday i'll start taking her on the bus, just short journeys at first then longer, I don't drive so it's important in case she needs a Vet (Cheaper than a taxi!) and we will go to Hydrotherapy on the bus once she's ok on it, hope she doesn't pee! She was great in the taxi when I brought her home so fingers crossed she'll be ok on a bus.

I don't think she's gained any weight & she's been here for 4 weeks today, maybe she does have Whippet in her, the Groomer has a full Whippet so may have some idea. She's got to be spayed in April anyway so will go to the Vets soon & we can discuss her weight, she's fed 2x a day & eats it straight away so not too worried.

She's being great when I go out, she's stopped yanking the carpet up by the door & never barks or destroys anything or chews etc I think she must just sleep. She's still only had one accident toilet wise & waits to go out, she never asks just waits until I take her! I'm shocked how anyone could dump her/lose her & not find her, she's so far the perfect dog. I think if she wanted the cat she would've by now tho I don't leave them unsupervised for more than maybe 10 minutes. (Just while I go to the corner shop, if she chases the Cat the Cat has a den to go in that the Dog can't access, so she's safe but any longer wouldn't be fair if she was stuck in there scared to come out!)

They'll both be unrestrained in the same room quite happily & sleep in their areas, the cat can go out without Chaya bothering her. She's not even missing her 3x a day walks! We restart on Tuesday (Well, we walk to the groomers on Monday) but her actual 3x a day walks start again Tuesday as she'll have gone over 3 weeks from her season beginning then. Frontlined her today & she looked all put out till I let her in bed (Yes, she has to sneak under the covers  but luckily she has no fleas just preventative)

Overall a great dog & I hope to have many years with her!

She sounds great.. atleast shes getting on with the cat :)
Hopefully she dont pee on the bus... I took mine to pets at home and i was hoping he didnt pee on the floor in there... thankfully he didnt but he did try to help himself to anything he saw on the shelf!

Good luck with the classes I hope she gets on ok with the other dogs
  • Re: the bus - I would start by going just one stop - give her a bit of a walk first so she is relaxed, and take a few choice treats. As soon as you get on the bus, get her to sit down, give her a fuss and a treat, and do this for every couple of minutes till you get to the next stop - get off, have a little walk again, then repeat on the way home - next time he gets on a bus she should have good positive associations with it!

You may find she puts on weight after she has been neutered Lily.

Ahh yeah, never thought of that! Maybe she won't get overweight then but normal weight lol. Will check with the Vet how much to feed her & with the nutrition people at the food company. Will probably be walking her 3hrs a day soon with 1/2 hr training & play on top so hopefully she won't get too fat! Maybe she won't need a coat then ;)

My dogs have always become VERY interested in food after being neutered.
I guess after they stop thinking about breeding it's the next thing down on their 'hobbies' list.
The food companies always recommend about twice as much as dogs need in my experience and my vet agrees.
