  • Just ordered her nice pink food & water bowls that help to prevent bloat lmao how sad am I? She'd probably never get it anyways

    What are you like!!?!

I can't take the mickey, I am as bad - Badger has never had any poorlyness at all so when she got belly ache one night... I researched it on the web, and got worried she had bloat, so spent half the evening lying on the floor listening to her belly (no rumblng sounds are a sign! She was rumbling well bt I was still worried! ) and the other half taking her to the emergency vets.

Turned out she had a touch of cystitis and is a drama queen!! :rotfl:

(both of which were the vets diagnosis, not mine btw!!)

lol the bowl has like three raised bits sorta like the Mercedes car sign (I know I know it only makes sense to me!)
Todays Munchausen issue is a sore paw, and a limping Cat! I guess i'll see how they are in the morning & take one or both to the Vets if needed. Maybe the grit on the roads has irritated her paw it doesn't seem to worry her tho!

Thanks for the info re belly rumbles FC, I do so worry when one of my has the stomach rumbles (they sound so loud dont they). We lost one dog to bloat - bless her, she was 15 but it was an awful shock - she had passed before we got her to the vet - OH was rushing through the traffic with her but when he got there she had gone. It broke his heart.

oh, how sad - an absence of abdominal sounds is one of the symptoms of bloat, so belly rumbles are quite a good thing - if in doubt crouch on the floor and stick your ear to the dogs belly!!

Well we went to Dog class & omg I wanted to bring the others home, there weren't many today, a Jack Russell Terrier x English Bull Terrier, a Jindo, a Dogue De Bordeaux x Rottweiler, a Poodle & another little black thing & I think that's it. The Jindo was a handful so we weren't the worst but a nice looking Dog & the DDB x I need he's gorgeous & 16 weeks old!

Chaya was abit scared but not too bad, when she 'walks' she's pulling & close to the floor tho mostly but she did do a lie down! Guess it'll get better from here, maybe!

Chaya is a very lucky little dog to have you around. I bet she is having fun :)

lol not sure she'd call it fun, think it musta been quite scary tonight but she did lie & sit down ok, she was about the biggest there lmao the wimp! The Jinto was as bad wanting to lunge at her but both calmed down. And on the plus side, it's really given my arm a good workout so i'll have arms like he man & so much muscle I don't need to diet it'll burn the fat so fast :rotfl:

I really wish she could do Agility she seems to like any hurdles & things to jump over, she was about the only one that flew over the bars. Still seems ok with her paw so think i'm gonna leave that for now & just watch it!
  • ooh well done - so you did the first training clas and she didnt eat any of the other dogs!! that's cool, glad it went without any major stresses!

Next week it will be a whole lot less scary for her, and may well get her past her 'not liking other dogs' thing - it will be good for her, I have no doubt! (of course it will get better the more you take her!)

I have just googled 'jinto' - never heard of them, they look a lot like an akita to me, are they similar?

Yeah sort've, i'd never heard of them either, apparently they're quite rare. I asked the trainer if he was a GSD x as he looks almost like a GSD but the tail goes up & over the back like an Akita type & he's smaller than one, I think he's about Chaya's size, maybe slightly taller. He has the black saddle type colouring on his back which is why I thought he was a GSD x lol

I guess he was maybe Springer sized, don't think I asked how old he is, nice looking boy tho. My fave was definitely the Rotti x DDB, omg he was adorable & always flopped out while we waited for things to be demo'd. She did settle down in the end, only raised her hackles to the Jinto, his Owner says he's really strong & got abit close at times.

Quite a few didn't like the others tho so it wasn't too bad! I think none were as scared as Chaya, need some cheese next week to try to get her to stop worrying about the others! I think most were Pups tho the Poodle was three but he looked like a Pup! Very small, about Bichon sized just black! I think if it's the same Dogs each week she'll get used to them & that they can't bother her & be ok.

If it doesn't work out i'll do one to one & maybe have a trainer bring their Dog to walk with her so she gets used to just doing that. At least it was a small group today, I think he said there can be 14 including a dog aggressive muzzled GSD lol

Tonight I think there was only 6 maybe 7 of us, how bad that I remember the Dogs not the Owners lol well the Rott x DDB Owner had a Son with her cause the trainer was using him to be his demo 'Dog' lol

She's eating better, just fed her again as she had it with-held earlier due to training & she eats it with warm water. If dry she won't touch it but her Orijen arrives tomorrow. Her paw looks abit cracked/red in places, so i've decided to bath it in cool salt water after every walk & i've cut off a slight bit of the nail above it that was sharp & sticking out in case that was rubbing when she walks.

Can't really cover it too easily so i'll just do that & keep an eye on it & if it's not better by Monday i'll take her to the Vet then, or sooner if it gets worse, it's not worrying her & we've all had dry, cracked skin at times so it's not major.

Isnt it strange how people are scared of staffies and think they are such vicious creatures. My boys were sniffing round a girl staffie yesterday on the fields and poor girl was terrified of them (two little terriers!). I do so wish people could realise they are lovely kindly dogs. There will always be problem dogs in any breed but poor staffs get terrible publicity. The majority of the dogs in the pound Im a volunteer with are staffs and the number of people who ring me about dogs and immediately say, "Oh, I dont want a staffie though". Very sad.
