One of the staffs, lovely white girl, in the pound still had enlarged teats and was full of milk. We got her out and into emergency boarding. It was there the vet found she was chipped and the chip had migrated to her elbow! He rang the owner registered on the chip and told him the dog had been rescued from death row. The chap said he had sold the dog a year ago but he would come and get her. The vet went on to say where she was and that he would need to pay for the treatment she had already had including spaying. When the man heard that he said I wont bother then, shes no good to me like that.
Where do these people come from? But thank gawd the vet sussed what he was like and was fairly sure he wouldnt collect her if she couldnt be bred. Hopefully she will soon find a rescue place and then a kind home for the rest of her life.0 -

It's such a shame, where I got Chaya from had mostly Staffies or x's & they said they don't take hand in ones now only strays as they're so difficult to find homes for, they thought it brilliant I was willing to home a middle aged one. I have decided to always have a rescue Staff or x now, obviously not anymore while Chaya's here, don't wanna give her a heart attack!0 -
Update, took her in about her paw & got them to look at her lumps, two looked like moles/warts/skin tags & one my CPN thought might be a fatty lump. The two they said are just warts & fine, the other isn't a fatty lump but a mammary tumour & more than likely malignant. Have called the Rescue to see if they have records of their Vet seeing it, mine said it's slow growing & can be removed when she's spayed in April. If the Rescue's Vet hadn't seen it i'll take her in next week to see about it coming out sooner as I really don't want to wait until April. gtg out for abit x0

Oh tiger, what a worry for you. But my Lucy had a mammary tumour removed at the age of 12 and lived til 16. Thank goodness you have her insured as it was quite an expensive op if I remember rightly.0

hugs to you and Chaya...
What a shame, I hope it an be whipped out asap and that its a good outcome for little Chaya. Thank god she isnt still wandering the streets and fields with this condition, but she has a warm bed, a good diet and lots of love.
ETA - just seen Hethmar's post - that is reasurring Hethmar, especially seeing as she was such a old girl to start off with.
My Che had a little lump taken off the top of her head when she was about 15 - did fine with the GA and it turned out not to be malignant even though the vet thought it may well be, and went on for about a year afterwards till she peacefully died in her sleep.0 -
Just called the Rescue, they say they didn't notice it while she was there. She said sometimes the Vet won't remove them if it's too complicated & when she's spayed they will pay for the lump to be removed at the same time.0

I can't take the mickey, I am as bad - Badger has never had any poorlyness at all so when she got belly ache one night... I researched it on the web, and got worried she had bloat, so spent half the evening lying on the floor listening to her belly (no rumblng sounds are a sign! She was rumbling well bt I was still worried! ) and the other half taking her to the emergency vets.
Turned out she had a touch of cystitis and is a drama queen!! :rotfl:
(both of which were the vets diagnosis, not mine btw!!)
I then joined, as someone needed a contact lens supplier in Nottingham, and so supplied the address via post and PM.
A reply, a thanks. NO!
Still, at least the Badger story worked out.:D0 -

Thats good news that the rescue will pay for the lump to be removed. If Chaya was in danger Im sure the vet would have said to get it off sooner so try not to worry (easier said than done I know!).0
