Just got this off another forum, please microchip

For this reason and never too old!

Today is the death day of nobody’s dog
Nothing will mark it but a note in the log
I’m faceless and nameless and no tears will fall
For I know in your world I have no worth at all

To you, my sweet someone, I’m a friend and a dear
We ran the wind daily and you held me so near
But the gate was left open – I chanced a walk on my own
I’d have cowered in fear if only I’d known

I know how you cried on the night that I strayed
I know how you searched, I know how you prayed
But I went to a pound far far from our home
Where I crouched in despair in my kennel alone

I know that you phoned for I heard your dear voice
And I hoped you would hear me so I barked myself hoarse
Although I’m a Lab cross with stockings all white
On their form I’m a Staff cross – the description’s not right

So they said I’m not here and I sank to my bed
My kennel cough’s worse and I can’t raise my head
The rescue came yesterday but they hadn’t a place
For an un-neutered cross breed with his mucus-streaked face

If only you’d come to search for me here
You would have known me at once, you would have sensed I was near
You would have sorted my ills, you would have carried me home
And I promise our God no more would I roam

Now my eyes plead for mercy for my seven days are done
And I am waiting with dread for the final vet run
No arms will caress me as they inject me to death
No words will comfort me as I take my last breath

When the body man comes, it is fitting I’m found
In a bin bag in the freezer in the depths of the pound
Thrown away like the rubbish - no respect and no shame
Denied even the time to find you again

My loyalty and devotion they did cruelly betray
Without microchip or nametag, I am just a dispensable stray
Once waggy-tailed, once proud, beloved and free
Oh Dad look with pain at what mankind’s done to me!

Oh god thats awful Lily, but true. If everyone had to chip their dogs so much heartbreak would be saved. I dont understand why it doesnt become law.

It really should - if every dogs owner was identifiable and held responsible for the dogs actions and welfare, perhaps people would start acting as if they were responsible!

It would have to be as strict as car registering though, as sometimes dogs come into the pound with a chip but when the people are contacted they make up a !!!! and bull story about having sold it to "a bloke in a pub" a month before or some nonsense.(normally the vet then finds the animal is very ill and so it seems the people want shot of a dog needing medical attention:()

It would have to be an offence not to update the registration if the pet was sold. But I guess that could lead to dogs being pts rather than the low lifes pay a fine ? Its a terrible problem

Maybe if anything happened to the animal ie cruelty/straying/biting then whoever is chipped as the Owner is the one prosecuted etc, make it on the person parting with the Dog to update at their cost the new Owners info? Then it'll always be registered to the new Owners cause the old ones won't want to risk any come bacK?

I think all Breeders should microchip as their info & be like my rescue, it stays registered to the Breeder, not the new Owner & the Breeder holds all the info changes, or update chips so Breeder & Owner info can be logged. I just wish they'd bring back dog licences & don't understand why they don't do this! I'd gladly pay, money could go to dog wardens, adding red bins (Rare where I live) etc and if any left over death row dogs or something.

I just don't understand why the government don't bring in tough new laws for animal welfare, i'd like to see all breeders having to register whether they have 5 or however many litters it is or not, even if they have ONE litter. Microchipping & neutering compulsory unless breeding from a registered dog, compulsory dog licence (Could include 3rd party insurance in the cost?) and if Owners mess up THEY should go to dog borstal with Mic NOT the dogs!

I'd also like it to be law that dogs can only be off lead if they have done a training course & have recall down, are not near roads & are neutered. And that Owners can't let their dogs run up to people & on lead dogs! I could go on & onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
  • yep - bring back the dog license - would make owners more accountable and raise revenue.

Dog poo bins are rare round here too - I took my doggo on a lovely walk of the nature reserve today, then called in at asda on the way back - as I am walking round, I stick my hand in my pocket, and start absent mindedly 'squishing' an odd, plastic covered, squashy thing in my pocket - till I realise its a bag of poop!!!!!

I was holding on to it when walking till I got to a bin - and abviously had popped in my poscket without thinking!

yuk yuk yuk! More poop bins pleeaasse!!

lmao ewwww. We have them on the country park but not really around the village. Do you leave Badger outside when you go in Asda? I dunno if i'd dare with Chaya in case anyone tormented her, tho when I worked there the Porters were good at stopping that. You shoulda handed it in to Customer Services & said to dispose of it, the customer is always right! (At least when i'm not working there they are!)

I got four books today as they're two for £7 & I had Xmas & B'day money to spend, and two DVD's so i'll be busy. One book, the one I started on, is about a woman & her Dog Fluffy! The Author wrote another about her life with her CKCS George!

I do leave her outside, but in the car (and even then I am as quick as possible, just incase anyone decided to steal a rusty old banger with a mongrel in it - but you never do know!!!) I would be too worried about someone pinching her if I tied her up outside.

Lol - customer services would have been delighted - it did cross my mind to pop it into one of the freezers (dunno why! lol) but I restrained myself!!

The books sound good - I am waiting to borrow a book called 'bad dogs have more fun' which looks good!

I need something lighthearted after reading this very wierd book called 'The Shack' that a friend lent me - which I think was aimed at persuading the reader to believe in god and stuff - was a bit heavy and not my normal choice of reading as I am atheist!!:rotfl:

omg you so should've done! I'da loved to have found something like that when working there! The book is good so far, her last one was funny & a true story I think!

Well, i'm waiting for the fireworks to begin, can't get Chaya to crap till later but I spose she'll hold it lolllll had a nice chat with the girl at the rescue today who first saw her running about near Tesco, said she was very very tired & thin (Not emaciated) when they got her cause she'd been on the run a week at least & nobody could catch her
