Its probably christmas Tigerlilly - everyone is fed up at this time of year of its any consolation! I am thoroughly hacked off today, if that helps, but mainly cos of some family stuff and the grim weather I think.
To be honest, I think your dog was probably surplus to requirements and was dumped or allowed to stray. If someone wanted to find her they had plenty of opportunity - If my dog was missing I am sure I would get her back if she was in a local shelter or pound - all found dogs are reported to the dog warden, which would be the first port of call for someone looking for a lost dog.
Also the fact she wasnt chipped or wearing a collar and tag suggests that she wasnt wanted. Just be happy you have saved her from a winter in kennels, she is your dog now, and thats clearly how it should be.
She was in kennels for well over her seven days, anyone looking for her would have found her - it is not difficult.
If you had not found her I have no doubt she would still be sitting in a kennel today, as she isn't a pup, and she has the bad luck to be just a little brindle staffy (although, as we well know, a very sweet little brindle staffy with the kindest brown eyes!) She may well have been overlooked by visitors in favour of the pups, and the easier to home breeds and ended up being a long-stay dog, just getting more stressed and skinny, and harder to home.
You have done a lovely thing, the alternatives for little Chaya could have been bleak.
Go and give her a fuss from me!0 -

((((((tiger)))))))
As FC says it's a grotty time of year. I'm looking forward to lighter evenings.
I think somone would have come and got Chaya if they wanted her back.......if you hadn't taken her in she'd be all lonely in the shelter. You've done her a huge favour..... she'll give you loads of friendship and fun back .
She's yours now, not just for Christmas !
Give her a big hug and snuggle up, my dogs are great for being sympathetic when I'm low.

Hahahaha i'm so mean, Chaya is booked in to go to basic obedience/socialisation classes beginning Thursday 8th Jan! He said there will be alot of Pups & some older, some don't like other dogs, some do. And once she's ok with all of that they do games & heelwork to music after the obedience when she's safe off lead & with others (If she ever is).
So poor Chaya will not know where to look first, there's about 14 dogs I think he said. How will she know which to growl at first? :rolleyes:0 -

she will work out a strategy I am sure!! :rotfl:
Good luck with that - keep us updated :beer:0 -
I'll be interested to hear about socialising older dogs as my Dennis the Menace is getting to be a pain he hates all big dogs and some smaller ones . He growls foul laungage at them and he has been nipped in retaliation !!
So pass on any tips other than crossing the road!

I will! He said they assess them all the first night & I know one has to be muzzled, it's a dog he already knows. If they're that bad he recommends another place or trainer more suitable but she will at least sit quietly albeit shaking like a leaf! Should be fun! I doubt she'll be muzzled as she's not strong enough to escape & isn't a puller & I won't take her close enough to others. The guy says it'll maybe be about £5 for the night & less if you just do the obedience (After they do either games or this heelwork to music thingy).
So, next year looks busy for me lmao Wednesday mornings from 21st January I have to go to this treatment for my Personality Disorder  , Thursday mornings Weight Watchers, Thursday nights Dog Obedience & hopefully one of the other classes after in time, 3x Walks a day with the dog! And I want to take her to Hydrotherapy also, need to try her on the bus first.
And hopefully I can get some Voluntary Work & do some Flyball &/or Agility someday tho I guess she needs to be trained for that as it'd be off lead! Way I feel right now I might be able to work again after my treatment!0 -
all sounds good - but I bet you will be shattered for the first few weeks!!! Lots of exciting stuff coming up for you in 2009!
Doing several new things at once completely knackers me nowadays, but perhaps that's old age catching up! lol0 -
