Please by all means link to favourite recipes that you've tried in our collection - but if you have a new recipe in mind could you add it to our main SC Recipe Collection (linked below) where it will be much easier for me to index for other readers to find later :)

I haven't figured out how to do links yet  but my favourites would be my Turkey with Red Wine & Cranberry (page 93 on the SC thread) and Polynesian Pork Chops (page 90 on the SC thread).

    Hiya :)

There's a really good guide on how to do links by sra. The whole thing is a sticky on the This Site Questions and Suggestions board - but the bit you want most is in the link below:-

When using the slow cooker is it alright to freeze the left over bits of the meat dish once it's got cold
I do if I cook normally but wondered if it was ok to do it wiith the slow cooked stuff. I know I sound daft ,but someone told me that if it was cooked slowly then there was more risk of getting bacteria in the food if you left it to cool and then froze it.

Ah, the problem with food safety and slow cookers is not the cooking time. It's the fact that the pot holds heat well and so takes much longer to cool down and that's where the main risk lies.

The basic advice is to decant the food from your slow cooker after serving and, as with any cooked foodstuff, allow it to cool quickly before placing it in the fridge or freezer.

    HTH :)

Any joint of meat - it just falls apart.

    Stews with dumplings.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

I was just thinking of rice pudding but I think I'd miss the skin.
