  • Very good to know Nottslass! I'll pass this on to DH and hopefully go and book then, and if they press for details again i'll tell a little white lie. At least then i would be able to relax a little!

Congratulations myaccount! As far as the fertility clinic is concerned, I wouldn't tell them, until I was further along (so there's no risk of you being taken off the list) - unless of course they recommend something invasive or meds in which case you'd have to mention it. But if it's just at the consultation stage, I don't see why you can't just continue as is until the pregnancy is further along. It's up to you whether or not to tell the GP right away. You know you're pregnant, so hcg tests/betas really aren't necessary - the betas are just numbers to stress over! The progesterone is an iffy issue. There seem to be 2 schools of thought on the progesterone - some GPs say it helps to boost it (many in the states think this way) while some GPs say it doesn't. There are also widespread differing opinions on what are "normal or acceptable levels" of progesterone as well. Really, it's what you are comfortable with.

:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:
  • .....Ooops, had to edit this twice! I just called a 3rd clinic and they are willing to give me hcg and progesterone bloods for £110 without GP referral :) It's about 40 minutes away and i'm booked in for 10am tomorrow. The woman kept congratulating me but as soon as she found out i didn't receive my treatment from them she was very abrupt. She also wanted to know why my GP wouldn't do them so i may have to explain about "the list", a wee bit awkward when they are a private clinic. I don't care though as long as i get everything checked! Fingers crossed everything is ok and i'm not just imagining those lines out of desperation!
  • How exciting myaccount - I hope everything works out for you. I'm sure you're not imagining the lines! I'm taking heart that your reflexology helped and hopefully mine will too. I can't afford to keep going indefinitely!!

I'm quite excited about the Insteadcup thing! I bought some preseed a while back and because of the messyness have only used about 3 tubes. I reluctantly use it now only when we 'really need it' which thankfully isn't too often :p . I think I'll get some if we don't succeed this month. DH is convinced that he's sown the magic seed this month, and now is too late to change whatever will be, so between now and the HSG I'll give insteadcup a go! Cheers for that suggestion, I'd never heard of it before now :D
  • Thanks so much, im filled with fear and excitement it's so weird. Wish i could be a "normal" preggo though, i feel really guilty for the BFP but also still really uncomfortable with other 'quick conceivers'. Not quite sure where i fit it. It's a strange experience! I have a physio appointment at 1pm today and i'm not even sure if i should tell her or not?!

I only had 6 sessions before the bfp. Each time it was 2 before ovulation and 1 in the 2ww. Do you find that the "lady bits" are tender? Mine was sore around the ankles and across the top. Looked it up and that's the general reproductive area + tubes. My right foot was worse, turns out that's the female side! Each time it was a little less sore so must've worked! She's coming for another 4 weeks then i will have to cut right down, it is so enjoyable but we just can't justify the cost.

DH didn't like the preseed, when he went out to work is when i lined to instead cup with it and popped it in. So he can go on thinking it was his "superman spermies" that did all by themselves lol.

Don't feel guilty for your BFP - you deserve it as much as anyone else. And it's really comforting to hear that everyones storys are different, it seems that it's only ever straightforward for those who just have to look at a willy to conceive!

Re reflexology, so far I've had 6 sessons, usually one before and one after ov. My right ovary area was sore at one point (can't remember which foot or where!) - the therapist said she could feel the area was enlarged, so it'll be interesting to see if the HSG agrees with her or not! I've not really taken much notice of the sore bits and how they correspond with ttc to be honest. In fact I completely fell asleep at my last session!

My next 2 sessions are booked in for before I ov. She did 3 months of 'general' fertility reflexology, and now she only does it before I ov. She supposedly really worked my hormones at the last session, one day after af started, and the following day I just broke down in tears for no reason. I never do that normally, so I can only assume that the therapy had something to do with it.

I showed DH a 'mooncup' in Boots this lunchtime to illustrate what I was trying to explain to him earlier... he thought I'd lost the plot!!! I think I just won't tell him if I go down that route ;o)

Juist want to say myaccount I hope all goes well tomorrow.

I have now had my smear and am awaiting the results, hopefully all is ok. Although still getting bad pelvic pains. Sometimes they really grip and hurt.

I am also considering acupuncture as a friend of mine from work was trying to conceive for 5 yrs went through ivf etc with no luck, and then had acupuncture and fell 2 months later. With her second child she experienced the same and went through rounds of clomid, ivf, iui etc etc decided to retry acupuncture and hey presto again succesfully fell pregnant.

I dont think it helps that I am a nursery nurse in a pre-school looking after 36 2 yr olds every day. It makes you think more about it really, (but it's a good job)

Well I hope all goes well tomorrow and please do tell us how it went.
    ;)
  • Hi All.

Lilo - so, so sorry to read your news - I have sent you a PM.

Nottslass - sorry too that it didn't work out this time, I was so hoping for you.

Shelly - Commiserations on the loss of your Furry Baby, and hope that you are feeling better.

I was going to say that news from the FairyElephant camp today is about as bad as it could be, but reading Lilo's news put mine into some perspective, even so I am pretty devastated.
We have lost our little one(s) already. I started to bleed on Sunday (when we were still on holiday), after just a few brown spots for a couple of days before which I managed to convince myself were implantation spotting.
The journey home from hols yesterday was a nightmare of cramping & flooding, and me trying to sit on a plane for 5 hours and not cry hysterically.

Went to the GP this morning and they sent me straight to the Early PG Clinic (my place of nightmares from last year) and the scan confirmed it.
They took bloods, and I have to go back on Thurs for another scan to make sure everything has come away, and more bloods to make sure my hormone levels drop properly (they are even more cautious after my ectopic last year).
They signed me off work for 2 weeks, but I am so behind with having been away that I have come back in this afternoon (I know, I know!) just to get timesheets and other important things sorted so people can get paid! Then I am going to take the rest of the week off and see how I feel from there.

So we are starting 2009 much as we started 2008, with another miscarriage, another failed IVF. I'm trying to find something positive to take forward into the new year, but it is just so so hard.
DH was so excited, that he told a couple of close friends on Xmas eve (he was very merry and celebrating a bit too much!) so now it's even harder to have to go tell them that it is over already. Not to mention telling my mum, who was so excited she said it was the best Xmas present she had ever had. I'm so glad we haven't told a lot of people we were trying.

Hope your New Year's are having a better start than ours.

    A very sad, FE.

  • Sorry, myaccount, I meant to add my congrats too, and hope all goes well for you.
Quite understand that you want to make as sure as poss that all is going OK before you let the GP know - in your position I would do the same.

If anyone would like some "pee in a pot and dip the stick in" pg tests I have 24 up for grabs!
I just looked at the tests I have here and they are out of date in May 09 so rather than bin them I would rather someone gets some use out of them IYKWIM! I'll never use that many between now and May :D
    They were bought from accessdiagnostics.

PM me with your address...first come first served.

Edit to add~ All gone now, sorry!
