Well done Fairy Elephant I am soooooooooooo pleased for you!!!
Sorry I havent posted earlier, but I have had some bad news on the ttc front - as expected I have been referred for my cervical smear and go and see them next week. Although I expected it, I am really knocked for 6, and I know that the odds are that it can be sorted etc, I am really panicking.
Anyway, 31st will soon come and I will know the score. AND, of course, one down one to go .........GO NOTTSLASS GO ....the pressure is on!!
Hope you all had a Christmas Day, Merry Christmas LiloLive on £4000 a year again for 20110 -
Hi there everyone,
Just read the thread for the first time and thought I'd post (don't worry, I'm not going to rub anyone's nose in it)
I turn 40 in February and DH and I have been trying to conceive since we got married in 2004..... I've never been to see the GP about it as my biological clock wasn't really ticking that loudly, but I'm now scared that it's all passed me by?
I've tried reflexology in the past and apart from chilling me out, it didn't seem to have any effect as far as TTC is concerned. Anything else that I should be doing - apart from the obvious?
I hope that 2009 is a good year for all who post here.0 -
First of all are your cycles regular?
Are you having sex regularly?
I know its an obvious thing but many people don't have sex regularly around the right time. Even with a regular 28 day cycle, it doesn't mean you ovulate on day 14.
So many doctors are stuck on the 'ovulate on day 14' thing & its so annoying.
A good thing to check is that you are ovulating.... via opks, check your temp daily in the mornings, checking for signs of ovulation can all be increased cervical mucus around the time of ovulation.
To be honest nesssie i think you should book an appointment with your GP, just to get the ball rolling anyway. They can do blood tests, refer you to a gyne doc etc but sometimes things take a while so best to get things going as soon as you can really.
In the mean time you could do some of the things i've suggested to check if you are ovulating & when you ovulate.
I'm ttc myself, best of luck ladies & hope we all get our BFP soon.“Hope is the only bee that makes honey without flowers.”
Some people only dream of angels, i held one in my arms.
Praying this baby makes it.0 -

Hi Lilo.
Have you had a positive smear test before to make you worry about this one?
If you want to PM and ask about anything I'll help as best I can.

FE - Congratulations!! :j Wonderful Christmas present for you!
I posted here off and on for about a month, then got a BFP. I certainly hope nobody thought I was rubbing anyone's nose in it. I have stayed on here because after 4 losses in a row, I am scared silly how this one will go. I don't post very much now (I post anything generally pregnancy related in the pregnancy thread), but as people were nice to me and supportive to me when I started posting, and because of my history, I'm still not entirely comfortable on the pregnancy thread. I also like to come in here and hopefully see more people get their BFPs. I feel a bit like rubbish as who knows when you start posting how long it will take to get pregnant - could be a month, could be a year or more.I do apologise if anyone felt that I was doing that.
Shelly -sorry about your cat - we had to put ours to sleep a couple years ago as she had developed a kidney problem that we were told was causing her immense pain and could not realistically be fixed. It was such a tough decision and we agonised over it, even knowing if we didn't we would just be prolonging her pain. I know it's a pet, and not technically a child, but it still is painful.
lilo - hopefully it is only a temporary setback and will result in things being sorted for you quickly so you can ttc again.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0 -
Thanks for your positive comments. Its the speed thats taken me by surprise mostly. My usual smear last year was clear, although I was worried until I got the result as for some reason I thought there was going to be a problem. I knew of no problem until my IVF in October when my consultant started questioning me during embryo transfer, as I had a patch on my cervix which wouldnt stop bleeding and she wanted me to have this test. I just keep thinking that it seems to have developed so quickly, as they didnt see a problem in April when I had a previous ET - and I have read the booklet they send and I know that the odds of it being really serious are q remote, I still am worrying. Plus the Colposcopy appt was in one weeks time!!! usually the NHS is slow!!
Anyway, good thoughts to all, and welcome to the 2 new girls - good luck!Live on £4000 a year again for 20110 -

I'm sorry if anything I said made you feel like you had put anyone's nose out of joint, cos I'm sure you won't have done.
For me, it's only the people who post on a ttc thread for the very first time, specifically to announce a first month BFP that make me angry. They should take it to the pg thread, because it's one thing for someone to join the thread and then get lucky first month, it's quite another to never post before and suddenly turn up to basically say 'Wow, I'm up the duff just by sneezing, and I'm posting on the ttc thread to point out to you losers that I didn't bother to join your thread at all cos it was so easy I didn't have to try!':rotfl:
Anyone who joins the thread and falls pg first month is to be envied for their luck, but still congratulated, I feel! It would be churlish not to! Similarly, I can totally appreciate why you still read/post in here, although I wish you all the very best for your pregnancy, and hope you'll soon feel totally at home on the pg thread!
Best Wishes,

Hi lilo, please don't read anything into how quickly you are being seen,it is standard practise to be seen within 2 weeks of referral for this kind of thing, (the Trust are fined if they don't meet their "Targets")
Best of luck - mind you if you're anything like me,you are now so used to "dropping your knickers" and jumping on a bed legs akimbo, you do it the first sight of a white coat !!!! (Mind you,can get a bit embarrassing for me as I work in a Hospital)

Yeah, definately leave your dignity at the door and pick it up on the way out!!! As you say, I am well used to that bit!!
Thanks for reassurance re time, I didnt know they had that target, so thats reassuring!!
Hope you had a good Christmas, and you havent been tied up in too many knots waiting for your poas!
