Trying for a baby (12+ M/not straightforward)

So far the docs have found no reason why I haven't found it easy to conceive, which on the one hand is brilliant, but on the other it doesn't explain why nothing is happening! It's a weird logic I know, but at least having 'something' wrong gives you something to focus on.
Hubby and I are in the same boat. I have had 2 mc's in 4 years of trying and have had a few tests and they say nothing is wrong with either of us.
Only thing we have against us is I am overweight. Having said that I am the same size/weight as I was when I conceived previously so I don't think its all down to that.
I am trying to lose weight to get onto the IVF waiting list and I have asked for us to have a chromosomal blood test (or something like that...can't think what its called) to determine if we are compatible to even carry children successfully.
If we aren't compatible and there isn't anything they can do I would rather know so that we can cope with the fact we will be biologically childless and get on with our lives.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Happy Monday Everyone!
Back in work so I can sneak on the site in relative privacy!
Many thanks for all your Good Wishes and Fertility Dances. I'm trying to stay calm and focused at the moment. still not feeling too great - lots of lower tum pains and now some 'stabbing' pains if I cough or move quickly (or turn over in bed). Still really tired too, although I've slept the best part of the 4 days since the anaesthetic!
As I said I'm supposed to wait until 26th Dec to test (yeah - right!), but someone on i-village who had her EC & ET the same days as me has been told to test on 25th...so I reckon I should be alowed to too! Problem is, then I'll either be really miserable all Xmas day, or really happy and want to tell everyone! (Def. not telling anyone until after 1st scan). So I'm more tempted to buy one of these 'really early' test kits and do it on Xmas eve, so I can have a day to compose myself either way.
Can't help remembering this time last year, when DH & I were looking forward to our 1st scan on 23rd Dec, and planning how to tell his family on Christmas day...makes me so sad to think of it. At least we have this 2WW to focus on, and lots of Xmas preparations, let alone holiday ones, to take our minds off it.
myaccount - I can always send you come 'complaint phrases' if you need them!
shelly - if the test you mentioned shows a problem, I think there is something that can be done. I used to work with a woman who had recurring MC's until they found out it was to do I think with her husband's blood-type being very different from hers and they were not compatable, so her body kept rejecting the fetus (not sure of the details but it was something like that). She had to have a lot of injections when they were TTC and early in the PG, but it worked and she had a lovely healthy little boy!
Better get on - 3 days off last week and the work has really piled up, so best plod on through some of it at least....
all the best,

All we need is a BFP from you to see out 2008 and a BFP from me to see in the new year !!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -

How does that saying go "your lips to God's ear"?! (if you believe in that sort of stuff!).
Here's loking forward to a teetotal Xmas & New Year for us both - for the best of reasons!
Everything crossed for you this week, and I will be doing the Fertility Dance for you - albeit a bit slowly and carefully so as not to jiggle anything about too much.....
Hugs,

Thanks for the info!
We were told they won't investigate until we have had 3 mcs but I told my consultant that I want the blood test before we go ahead with IVF. I don't want to waste NHS money that someone else could use for the same procedure if there isn't a chance of the pg sticking.
If we have the blood test and it comes back ok then I'll take a chance on IVF. If it comes back that we aren't compatible then at least we will know what the problem is and that it can be treated.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. Fingers crossed for all of you!
It seems I am coming back to this thread... So far we had 16 "unsuccessful" cycles. You can say I am a bit losing hope...
Anyway, I decided to stop taking my temperature or using any tests to predict OV this month - sort of a "month off", holiday. Besides, we are going to be staying at in-laws for over 2 weeks, so it would have been a bit tricky to do the OPKs and so on. And, after we are back to UK, we are going to make an appointment with GP. I have no idea how to approach this and I don't feel very comfortable (saying it mildly) to discuss our life with GP (who are both men in our practice...).
There is one thought in the back of my mind that it is all my problem as I had an ovarian inflammation on one side when I was about 14-15. Never find out the reason for it, but it was really painful and that was my first meeting with gynaecologist... I remember that then I was reading it could affect the fertility, but can't find any decent info now.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

Hiya Ginvzt :hello: ,
I think you are right taking a 'holiday' - it can get on top of you, all this TTC stuff......
I know it's easier said than done, but try not to worry about talking to the GP - they will have heard it all before!
I actually saw the Lady Dr in my practice to discuss when we were first having probs TTC - she is also the one who does all the maternity stuff, so though she would be the right person - how wrong was I?! I saw her 3 times over 2 years and she was dismissive and didn't want to know - saying things like 'it'll happen when the time is right, just keep trying' etc etc! In the end I printed off the NICE guidelines (as I was over 35, I checked what I should have been entitled to according to NICE) and went prepared for a row! But she was off sick and I saw one of the male Dr's instead - and he was absolutely great! He really tried to get us some help on the NHS, writing to several consultants, as he thought their criteria was unfair (we don't get help as DH has children from his previous marriage). When we were finally turned down, he helped as much as he could by letting me have all my blood-tests done at the surgery on the NHS and then faxing the results to the Fertility Clinic.
All the best,

FE - that's nice that your GP was so helpful. Lots of them aren't. Mine wasn't too bad - he ordered some testing right away when we asked, no problems. But I have heard of so many that absolutely will not do anything and just keep telling people to keep trying. Personally, you would think they would want to get the tests done and refer them to specialists as soon as possible.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

Welcome over Ginvzt, if its any help or consolation, our DH was conceived after 2 years TTC, we were about to start IVF and then fell naturally, so it can happen.
Good to hear its all going well for you Notslass, will be ready with the fertility dance when you confirm days.
Take it easy FE, we have high hopes for you!!
