Morning everyone, welcome purplepardalis, as Shelly says I can only imagine what you have been through and my heart goes out to you. In regard to the monitors I got mine off ebay but Tesco were doing them half price although think that offer was due to finish 17th May but could be worth checking.

Well I got a peak today so looks like ov tomorrow CD18 so not as bad as I thought I guess, will just have to be patient and see what the blood tests show later this week. Right better get a move on and get to the dreaded blood test!

    Morning everyone,

I have just caught up with the thread this morning.

Lilo - thanks for the kind wishes. x

Sarah999 - so sorry to hear your devastating news. I hope the clinic can offer some answer and solution for you.

Welcome purplepardalis and good luck. I don't have experience of PCOS but there are plenty of ladies on here that can help. I also got my Clearblue ov monitor from ebay.

My news is that I had two scans this week, and have four follis developed - 2.4mm, 1.9, 1.5 and 1.4. I am going in Thursday for egg removal. So have my Pregnyl injection lined up for tonight.

It's terrifying and exciting at the same time. But I am still refusing to get too hopeful. It has been such a long time in waiting to get this far!

On another subject, I discovered that I only have one functioning ovary. Not too much of a surprise as I have only ever felt ovulation on one side, but it explains the higher than preferred FSH. I was a bit annoyed that it seems that NHS criteria all rests on the woman's FSH results when it appears I would never have met their criteria for treatment but was never checked due to the assumption being that OH was 100% of our problem. Oh well, I guess the ISAs weren't doing too much anyway!

Baby dust everyone! Wishing you all well!! xx

    Thanks Shelly,

My periods aren't regular at all at the moment - if I got some of these opks, when would I start testing after day 1 of my next period? And do I wee on one every day until it indicates that I'm ovulating?

Would it be better to just buy one of these Clear Blue kits? If so, where's the cheapest place to buy for the machine thing (?!) and the test strips?

    Thanks guys

    PP x

I'm not really genned up on opk's but on looking at some paperwork I have here at home it depends on your cycle length as to when you start using opk's.
The chart I have says if your cycle length is 28 days then you start testing on CD 11, if its 29 days you start testing on day 12, 30 days test from day 14 etc etc

It also goes on to say **If your cycle is not the same length each month then choose the shortest cycle you have had over the last 6 months to work out when to start testing**

So for someone like me whose cycle lengths in the last 6 months have varied from 29 days to 38 days I would start testing on day 12.

Then you test everyday until you get a positive. Usually you ov anywhere between 24-48 hours after the positive.

Buying a Clearblue monitor from scratch isn't cheap unless you can get a good deal. The monitor retails at around £60 - £75 and the sticks each month are £15 - £20.

I would recommmend the monitor to anyone whose cycles vary from month to month but only if its affordable to them each month. I had mine free as part of a clinical trial but wouldn't now go and buy one purely because of the cost.
Buying opk's online is much cheaper and they do the same job, just without the fancy machine and packaging.

    Hi everyone,

Been away for what feels like ages. Nice to see a BFP for Nottslass - congratulations!

Hello to anyone new on here I've missed arriving.

I'm afraid it's not good news from me. Think I've had an anovulatory cycle, and am just waiting to see when af will arrive. I've not been too rigorous with my charting this month.Unfortunately Mum became seriously ill, and sadly then passed away. Coming on the back of the m/c in April I can honestly say I feel like I have been tested to the limits of my coping powers. However, I'm taking it day by day...

Hope everyone is ok - so sad to read your news Sarah ((hugs))

Sarah, Toniq, so sad to read both your bad news.
Sarah I hope that you get your referral soon and they can find a reason for your recurring M/C's.
Toniq - I've been hoping all weekend to get back and read some good news from you - so sorry that it didn't work out this, but like Leopardlady said, please don't give up hope.
I hope that no-one from here would send you nasty messages- that is a terrible thing to do and I feel really angry on your behalf! I hope that you report them to the mods and they get banned. GGRRRRRR!

AnnieM - sorry to hear of your bereavement, made even harder after your M/C - so much to cope with no wonder you feel you have been tested - (((HUGS))) to you and hope that you feel better soon. I know it doesn't suit everyone, but I have found that counselling really has helped me when everything (not just the TTC stuff) has got on top of me. Just a thought Hun.

Angela - Great to hear that things progressing for you - let us know when we need to get the Fertility Dance going again!

Nottslass - Hope I'll soon be joining you in the LOTPO (Land Of The Pregnant Ones!) - save a space for me, OK?!?

    Welcome Purple!

As for me, well currently suffering from a nasty chest-infection so had to get some antibiotics from the Doc today - got to get it clear or I know they won't want to anaesthetise me for EC. AF arrived dead on time on Fri. Still 'stabbing' buseralin every night. Bloods taken today, and due to start the 2nd 'stabbing' to Stim on Friday as long as the results are OK.
Still not feeling too worried about it all at the moment - which is a bit worrying in itself IYSWIM?!? Sure I was usually a mess of hormones by now on previous cycles - hope that doesn't mean the meds are not working?!?
The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"
..."Mind yer a*se on the step!"
TTC with FI - RIP my 2 MC Angels - 3rd full ICSI starts May/June 2009 - BFP!!! Please let it be 'third time lucky'..... EDD 7th March 2010.

Annie and Toniq, I am so sorry to hear your news.

I have had an appointment with consultant this morning and he decided that since everything else looks fine (blood tests, he also examined me), we should do HyCoSy, which I am told is similar to HSG. He was very nice and made me feel at ease. Although, half an hour in the waiting room was not very welcome!!!!

Anyway, I called Bupa to confirm that I am covered for this and they could only find HSG, which is not the same test and they only cover £91 for it for consultants fees (hospital fees are separate), but the consultant said it would be about £150 for this procedure plus hospital fee at ~£130. I am trying to get a proper procedure code for this, but will not know till tomorrow until I can speak with consultant's secretary again. So, on top of £100 excess for Bupa cover, I may need to pay out extra for the tests as well...

On the 'good' side, AF arrived yesterday, so he was going to see if we can fit the procedure in this cycle, which would be nice.

Sorry for rant. My 'problems' seem to be so small when compared with all of you, but I just can't hold it all together...
