I have been to Australia by boat, have boarded a plane twice but got engine failure and had to turn back. Now the plane and boat are out of commission due to major works being required but they are both back in action from September. I hope that the plane will work, but if not that I can use the boat. I am desperate to give Australia one more visit, but may have to settle for pictures and memories from my last trip and be glad that I have visited once!
All the best - Lilo
It made me cry too!!!!! I so hope you will get there, lilo!!! I am actually feeling guilty about complaining that we still haven't got the ticket, when I read all the other stories...
I have been trying to board that ellusional plane for nearly 20 months, and I can't see the end to it. Although, I am going to see 'the engineer' on Tuesday, and I hope he will be able to tell me I can get there very very soon. I am sort of hoping that there is some mechanical failure, as I don't know how will I be able to cope with it otherwise...
On the good note - we decided to go for luxurious holiday (with the recession and all that) to Seychelles!!!! Fingers crossed we are going there in 6 weeks, although we haven't booked yet!!!!!!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Well not much to report here except I am very cross!!
Some of you might remember I posted this article http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/health/article5769066.ece
a while ago now and spoke to my GP about it.
He hadn't heard about it and said to get in touch with the health authority and ask them myself. Well I got no joy from them, the lady couldn't give me any answers.
Anyway, phone just rang. The GP bless him got in touch with them too and they said the BMI criteria has stayed at 30!!!
If BMI criteria is staying the same how is that helping us women who are over 30?
Nevermind, just means I have to shift my lazy butt and get some excercise:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Ah Shelly, sorry to hear that, I suspected as much when I read on their website. There isn't a hope of me getting to that BMI, even my Mum who is constantly nagging at me and has lost alot of weight agreed she didn't think it would be feasible. The last time I was at the weight required for my BMI to be under 30 I was a teenager and a size 10 at 5'7", it is ridiculously low.
FE I love how the terminology on here has changed since your analogy! It's so much more user friendly and less intimidating!:o0 -
I think if I really really put my mind, heart and soul into it I could probably get to 30 or under but it just worries me that last time I lost 3 stones I had a lot of very low points where I would just cry for no reason. My mum thought I had depression and wanted me to go to GP but I wouldn't.
I lost the weight to get married but once married I stopped the dieting and soon got back to my old bubbly self......and put all the weight back on tooMind that was 8 years ago now.
I'm going to have to really try and stop making excuses:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

Are you sure? BMI takes into account your height. For a women who is 5'7, you'd need to weigh more than 13.5 stones to be over 30 on the scale. I am 5'6" and can only fit into a size 10 when I weigh under 10 stone. I can't imagine it is possible to fit into a 10 if you are an inch taller and weight nearly 4 stone more.
I don't mean to be rude by querying you btw, but having done both, trust me that losing weight (even with hormonal problems making things worse - I had severe PCOS) is far far easier and less emotionally and physically demanding than IVF treatment, and one of the reasons they like you to be under 30 is that often once you get the weight down under that, your natural fertility levels improve sufficiently that IVF isn't required.
My BF who is a midwife also told me that she has only ever lost 2 women in childbirth, and both had BMIs well over the ideal, so she's super keen for the sake of mums and babies for women to try to get down to below 30 before they conceive as it is much safer for them and for their babies.
Sorry to be controversial!0 -
Yes Nicki I am sure of BMI. I am currently a size 18/20 and weigh 19 1/2 stone. The past 2 years I have tried absoloutely everything to lose weight and nothing has worked. I got married 2 years ago and was desperate to lose weight for the wedding but I just could not get rid of it. My doctor even prescribed xenical slimming pills for me and they didn't even work and I'm sure you've heard all about them!
Since being diagnosed with a pituitary tumour I have found many others in the same boat find it impossible as well. I only wish I could say that at the weight I am I got there from eating fried breakfasts, snacking loads, big lunches and dinners but sadly I didn't. I have a bowl of cereal for breakfast with semi skimmed milk, a homemade vegetable soup or salad for lunch and then dinner is either meat or fish usually with salad or vegetables. We don't have crisps, biscuits, cakes, sweets etc in the house and I don't snack between meals. I don't drink anything other than water or no added sugar squash but mainly water. No alchohol. I know I have to exercise more and have just managed to borrow my mums treadmill so I can do more at home but exercise alone will not lose me 6 stone.0 -
It is possible to have high BMI and be of small size (10 is small, in my opinion). There was a girl my research group, who had BMI somewhere around 30, but she was very slim and not too tall. She was very much into sports and living very active lifestyle. I am sure a lot of athlets have high BMI, that is because muscles weight so much more!!!!!
I am too overweight, and I started putting on weight when I moved to UK!!!!! I am about 5'4, and 6 years ago I was 9.5 stones (60kg). Now I am 14 stones (90kg)!!!!!! I am desperate to lose weight, as I can't stand how I look anymore and hate my photos, and I hate the size my boobs got to (from 32C to 32J!!!!!!!). It looks like this is my last week away with work, so I can finally go back to eating normal food instead of hotel one!!!!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Aww congratulations nottslass so pleased for you, keeping my fingers crossed for everyone else also, I have started using the clearblue monitor along with my chlomid so hopefully this month is my month been saying that for years though!!0

Well, I will also agree that this BMI rule is just silly. It's about time the medical profession (who should know better) start to use a more balanced approach rather that just an arbitrary 'you weigh this, your height is that, your BMI is X and is therefore too high'.
Will get off my soapbox now, but it does make me angry! Who can I write to and complain about such an injustice while I'm sitting in bed here...0
