I am down today...
I went to hospital to get my day 21 bloods today, and decided to pop into "women health care department" to check when is my next appointment. I had my first one 2 weeks ago, when we discussed my medical history, etc, I got prescribed blood test, ultrasound (May 15) and HSG. Was told to make next appointment at reception, but it as closed already, so was told they will contact me to arrange it. Also, was told that they won't wait for HSG results, as there is 12 week wait. So, I was hoping to have it by the end of June...
How wrong I was - my next appointment is in wait for it - 4 months!!!!!!!! Yes, August 19th!!!!
I was driving up to north for a meeting and I just couldn't stop crying. The NHS claims that you will not have to wait for more than 18 weeks from referral to treatment, but even the second appointment (only the first one with consultant!!!!) is going to be in more than that! It is going to be something like 22 weeks from referral.
What is more upsetting I realised that theoretically, I could be 20 weeks pregnant by then. I know, it is only theoretical... It just feels like that dream is getting further and further away.... I think I am losing (lost) hope of conceiving naturally....Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

Is there no way you could be referred to another unit? In sheffield we have a choice to be referred anywhere we request, or could you afford to go private for your HSG & ultrasound?
good luck I hope you get something sorted.0 -
ginvzt, sorry to hear you're feeling down. Try to think of the end result. All of us on this thread are beyond expecting it to happen each month, and I for one am usually accepting of this. But we all have the chunks of time where it just seems like too impossible a task, and that the patience asked of us is just unthinkable. August 19th does seem like a ridiculously long way away. I'm at a similar point in the ttc journey to you, and I'm waiting for my first apointment post-HSG. I was quite astounded when I rang up immediately after booking my HSG (as asked) for my consultant appointment and realised I was going to have to wait 10 weeks to be seen. Your wait is considerably longer than this.
I think for me what I'm finding hard is that for so long I've had my feelings on standby, thinking that there was no point thinking about it until we had our first appointment. Then I got quite excited that the HSG happened quite quickly, but now I'm in another lull waiting to see what will happen with the results. Progress seems to come in fits and starts, and when you have to do something it takes so much emotional energy. Then having to just sit still and wait again is really difficult again.
Is there any possibility of going private? My husband and I are not considering it at the moment, as neither of us are 30 yet, and our area seems to move faster than yours. But if each step was taking that much longer it could be worth considering?
But anyway, remind yourself of how little all this frustration will matter once we finally get what we all are craving... Big hugs.Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o0 -

Please don't lose hope. I think the waiting times really suck too - you get yourself ready to come out of an appointment feeling like you're a step further along but it feels like swimming through treacle as each appointment is such a tiny step. Everything seems like a preliminary - no ACTION! It sounds good that they don't wait for the HSG results though - they can get on with other tests etc. in the meantime.
Please hang in there, hope-wise!

Congrats Sarahs xxxxxxxxxxxx
Ginvzt, If u can it might be worth the expense to go private, I know we had to go private as i have an 11 year old ds from a previous relationship so nhs funding wasn't a option for us, but with private we choose when we are seen, and the clinc fits in around us, we can have appts up to 8pm in the evening and at weekends, Im booked in for 4/5 which is a bank holiday to check on gonal f progress.
I really hope whatever you decide that it works out and the waitng list isn't so long xxxxxxxxx#JusticeForGrenfell0 -

Thanks so much for allyour congrats; you of all people know what it means to finally get a BFP.
Ginvtz, so sorry to hear you're being mucked around. Really hope you can find a way round it and get your appt quicker.0 -
Thanks for nice words. I think we will have to call BUPA first and see if they can help. Although they just introduced a £100 excess per year (company decision), it would be still cheaper than private. We need to explore all ways before we fork out for private....Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0
