Trying for a baby (12+ M/not straightforward)

It was really the physical stuff I was wondering about. There seems to be varying info about the physical aspects of ttc after a mc on the 'net. I've read that your dates can be skewed if you get caught straight after a mc, but the idea of making the most of a fertility boost is very tempting. I was thinking that if there is no physical reason not to start straight away then maybe we should.
Emotionally, I'm in a very weird place anyway - the 2ww stress might just feel like normality! I think I'll just see how DH and I feel later.

Hi Annie
Sorry to hear about your mc. :A
I lurk and just wanted to say that, as I think you know, I got PG after my mc and I do think my fertility was boosted.
There isn;t any physical reason why you shouldn;t TTC straight away - it is purely an emotions and dates thing.
As for dates, they never dated me at my scans but have gone on the Mw's made-up date of conception  so that could be a problem but to be honest they are only going to be a week or so out and that doesn;t matter that much.
It's more about whether you and OH feel ready to try again. I found early PG hard because I was still grieving for my lost baby and dealing with being Pg and the hormones and stuff that came with that and it was quite a lot to deal with, but now I'm 26 weeks I'm really glad we started trying straight away.
It's a very personal thing but there's no real reason why you shouldn;t if you wan to:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Sorry guys I am not a lot of use on these things hopefully someone a bit better will come along and confirm what I am about to say ........
The Opks measure an increase in the LH hormone, so no, I dont think you can get a false surge - so that should mean that you will ov within next 24 hours - you must have had a strong surge!!! (by the way whats FMU)
i think the spike means that you have ovulated - ie it happens after the egg has been released.
Hope this helps, and that someone can confirm LiloLive on £4000 a year again for 20110 -
First morning urine
Just tested post work after holding it in all afternoon & got a strong dark line so have forced OH to bd very quickly before he goes to football, I'm so over the moon to know I am ov'ing now
Sorry BecsI dont know much about progesterone, are those levels definitely too high? Will have a look online & see what I can find out, xx

No, high is good Gymfriend that's why I was surprised. I think I was told anything over 20 for a cd21 test and mine was 39.3 on cd19. I had a look on the net today and seems to be loads of people indicating that sort of level may indicate a pregnancy but some others saying their non pg levels on this day were as high as 50 something.
Dh now has to go and do his bit for a sample so we can see if he has any problems. I'm hoping though that my new levels mean I'm normal again and now stand a better chance next month!
Now having trouble with GP surgery again! They changed their prescription rules to 28 days now, so they won't give prescriptions for anything longer. I was very annoyed about this not least because of having to pay more often but also have to go to surgery once a month after ringing them to collect said prescription. Anyway I saw the Lloyds pharmacy advert on the tv about them doing your repeat prescription each month meaning I just go to the chemist once a month instead of trying to finish work early etc to get to GP. So last month I took my prescription into them and completed the form for them to do it for this month, GP surgery rung to query today (prescription finishes tomorrow) and said I wasn't on a repeat prescription! Had to argue the point with the admin woman that I've been on this continuously since last April! Can't they check their records! Having this flipping thing in the first place is bad enough but all the hassle with regular blood tests, prescriptions etc just makes it a real pain!0 -
I know af has arrived but have you tested anyway just in case? xxBaby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j0

Hi Gymfriend,
Yes I did an ebay cheapie after I'd got that result back just for my own peace of mind but it was BFN.0 -
I have reread the section in my Toni Weschler fertility book on OV and the surge (positive) indicates a rise in LH in your body and that rises about 24-36 hours before you actually ovulate - a positive OPK just says yes you now have this necessary hormone and get BDing in the hope that you do actually release an egg, but doesn't mean it has done or will do. We always get a more accurate test a bit later in the day, so early afternoon is ideal - I soon realised it is wasteful to do a test in the morning!
Your basal temp testing is the other way around, so the moment there is a spike you then know you have already released an egg - and have hopefully been BDing in the days before.
Crikey - have I swallowed that book?!Anyway, always happy to answer questions here or on TTC thread - or PM me if you want anything else looking up x

Oh I'm sorry Becs
But onwards and upwards to next month. How many months have you been definitely oving since the tumour has been under control?
Thanks MadMac v helpfulI tested this morning & this afternoon and both were positive but the aft one was slightly darker, so bding for 3 straight days has begun! I can't describe how happy I am to know I'm ovulating (or at least appear to be) and on a normal looking cycle
If I ov tomorrow it's CD16 so a 13 day LP, a massive improvement on 11 months with no af followed by 3 erratic cycles!

Becs - I can only sympathise with you about doctors. I sometimes think my GP isn't taking any notice at all and the whole lot of them feel so superior it really gets my back up!
Thankfully there is the odd excellent doctor in amongst the bad, but I still dread having to go.
Good luck and hope it goes OK x0 -
Just popping in to see how everyone's doing?
Saw some Q's the last 2 pages..
You can get false surges, but if your cycles are under 35 days and regular then it is very likely to be a 'real' surge. My cycles were 30-60 days long and i used to false surges for days; if the test is still showing positive for more than 4 days it's likely to be a false surge.
It can't hurt to BD whenever you get a positive and it is great to have that extra warning. You can O anytime in the 72 hours after a positive. We used to BD the day of the positive and whenever possible the 3 days after. I always used BBT to confirm ovulation due to false surges, this is really the only way to know for sure without blood tests. (temp increases and stays high after ov, although it can rise slowly or take upto 48 hours before you can detect the rise).
Once you have the surge it can be in your urine for a good 2 days, so it's very possible for a true positive with FMU.
39 is a good level for P4, showing that you definitely ovulated. Progesterone levels in the luteal phase whether pregnant or not are generally the same, and there is no way to predict pregnancy through a progesterone assay early in pregnancy. Anything over 15 shows 'good' ovulation, some doctors like to supplement progesterone during early pregnancy (to avoid hormonal miscarriage) if the level is below 20. My level 17 days past ovulation was 131 with our last conception.
I hope everyone is holding strong and BFPs will be coming soon!0
