    Hi All

I bought a CBFM and used it last month. I found it a bit stressful this time as because I am on clomid, it mucks it up a bit and shows high fertility for days and days before giving you the peak days. That said, I ovulated much later than I thought I did and it did make me feel more in control - which for me is a good thing as I'm finding you don't seem to have any control in ttc!

The sticks are expensive but after nearly 4 years trying they're a lot cheaper than IVF which if this, the new diet, and the clomid doesn't work will be our next step.

Jo jo, you do get your sticks online don't you? Not buy them in boots etc... much cheaper online.

    JoJo,

Don't worry too much about the highs, they do settle down. I'm on the 5th month with mine and was worried mine might be affected by bromocriptine that I take, After the first month where I had about 6 or 7 high days, I got 1 high day. 1 of the cycles it even went straight from low to peak with no high at all. It has settle down and now usually gives me 1 high day then peak. I think the month it went straight to peak was a month where I'd doubled my meds.

    Gymfriend,
They closed the other chat forum because of some kind of abuse that had gone on. I hadn't seen it neither had a lot of the other members. We just received an email saying they had to close it. This looks like an independant site and I'm pretty sure Paul was one of the members who was keen on getting something started as they'd closed the other one. There's a bit on the new one I have just seen regarding the safety of the drugs, bromocriptine and cabergoline have you seen that? Do you take either?

eta: Just seen in...I think I read something similar before but stating they only think it's particularly dangerous in those being treated for Parkinsons with much higher dosages?

    Gymfriend,

That is my understanding as well..I wasn't too worried because I'm on a very low dose bromocriptine. I've had a bit more of a look at the site and it has been set up by one of the old members. Looking into what he's said it looks as if it was his and his wifes posts that caused the forum to be closed but I didn't see what they had written.

Anyone got the answer to my question? Can you get positive OPKs and then no ovulation?

Hi all, just popping on from the TTC thread tentatively as our age is now getting against us and a trip to the doctor will be next on the list I suspect.

Just wanted to try and answer you Sarahs999 - I have looked in the TTC bible (Toni Weschler book ;)) and yes, she says you can indeed get a positive OV test and still not actually ovulate, but any noticeable shift in temperature can indicate ovulation, as some women even have a temperature drop when they ovulate - but most have a spike.

I soon realised the OV test is only checking for an increase in LH, but as that doesn't guarantee you will go on to ovulate, I started temperature charting to check my temperature does spike - only then do I know I have really ovulated.

    Hope that makes sense!

    Morning all,

Hope everyone's ok? Welcome MadMac :) Hope the trip to the doctors turns out to be a positive one & you don't need to join us in here!

Sarahs999 sorry I couldn't help - come on to ask an ov stick question myself. So, hopefully someone can help...I'm on CD15 today of what i think will be a 28/29 day cycle, and got a positive opk this morning with FMU, have been testing since CD9 (because I'm eager..! & hoping to follow SMEP) and this is the first one - have read you should test in the afternoon & not with FMU, so I'm wondering if it could be a false positive?

When you are temp charting, does the spike mean hat you are ovulating, or that you will ovulate in the next 24 - 4 hours.

Sorry for sounding thick but we didn't have any problems conceiving DS 5 years ago.

Gymfriend I don't know much about ov sticks as didn't get on with them.. From what I've read the testing during the day is because most women will ov during the day so that's when you would see the positive. Alot of women just use them in the morning and don't ever really see a positive because of this, so logic tells me that in your case it wouldn't be a false positive.
Dreaded af is due tomorrow but I don't have any symptoms, I'm feeling lousy at the mo due to a really sore throat and I daren't take anything just in case. I'm resisting the urge to test as have a habit of thinking might just get a positive then test and af arrives within the hour! Stupid isn't it! I really want it to be our month this month but I just can't allow myself to get my hopes up. I've even been feeling sick the past couple of days, not badly, but I have had that other cycles too so I'm just putting that down to my bromocriptine. I've lost count of the amount of single magpies I've seen this month! I think someone is definately trying to tell me something!
Can I also ask a question about CM, I'm not really one for having alot of it so have never done well with the spotting of it and have had to use pre-seed. This morning though I noticed a huge amount of EWCM although not as stretchy (sorry tmi!) which has really got me puzzled! Does anyone else have experience of this day before af is due?
