Arghhh!!!! We have our GP appointment today to discuss the test results. While my blood tests arrived, OH's sperm count results are not there!!!! He did the test 3 weeks ago, and only today he was told, that results may take up to 8 weeks to come through!!!! I am a bit upset, as I feel we are not going to get the proper explanation about our 'problems'. Actually, I am fuming. This is a test that has to be done straight away, so why is it taking them 8 weeks to produce the results?
Sorry about the rant....Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
That is such good news!
Or do you want to 'come clean' about having fertility treatment?

I decided to come clean with my head, and I'm so glad I did because he's been extraordinarily kind. I managed to book in my results apointment and it's not for ages! 19th of May. What a wait. So I told my head about the two apointments and he said fine. Then later on he came to me and told me that he didn't want me to feel bad about taking time off for this, because my home life has to come first. He said if it's what helps us he hopes we have lots and lots of appointments and he'll sort me out for them all one way or another. It made me feel so much better. I have my problems with the boss sometimes, but the way he's acting about this is just fantastic.:DAm not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o0 -
Hi Jiblets.
Glad you got it sorted with the boss. I must say I think its a man thing. When I was having probs and working my boss was a man and as soon as you mention gynae probs or anything 'down there' they kind of mumble...yes yes that's fine, take what time you need :rotfl:
Best of luck with the results.
(though from my experience of having 2 HSG's the person doing it will tell you the results there and then):heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

Well, at least GP was nice. My results are fine. I ovulated last month (I knew that...). The only issue was one of the results for testosterone. It was fine itself, but one of the results was low (free something - androgen?), and the another one was high because of that. He doesn't think it is any issue though.
He promised to chase the semen analysis results and give us a call to discuss the results, so we don't need to make another appointment. Whatever the result is, he is happy to refer us to fertility clinic. We had a chat about BUPA, and he said to give them a call to find out if we are covered. Well, if we have to wait 8 weeks for test RESULTS under NHS, I hope there is something else we can do. (Just checked our BUPA guide, and it says "Where your consultant considers that there are symptoms and/pr medical evidence that you or your partner are infertile, we pay for eligible treatment for either you or your partner for reasonable investigations into medical cause of infertility")
He also told us that he and his wife had problems and were referred. Then, two days after they had the appointment they found out they are pregnant:o It can happen!!!!!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

I agree with your consultant to check with BUPA exactly what you are covered for.
It should even say on your Membership Certificate if there is anything you aren't covered for.
On the back of ours it says 'Special conditions' "Any treatment that is for, resulting from or is related to infertility, its cause and complications is not covered for shelly"
I think its because when I first joined the company scheme and went on hubbys policy I had to disclose I had had a mc.
Quite recently they got an earful off me because my consultant who dealt with my cervical cancer referred us to a fertility doctor to talk about our options after the surgery.
I called them up to double check that I was covered for consultations because the special conditions for me (as above) stated 'treatment' which to me a consultation isn't a treatment.
They agreed and said they would pay out for consultations only. This was back in 2007.
Since the initial convo in 2007 they have paid out for 2 consultations but the 3rd bill they refused to pay saying that I wasn't covered!!
Quite a few phone calls have gone back and forth between BUPA, me and the consultant. In the end they paid but have now said I am no longer covered for consultations with a fertility doctor.
Its stress and worry you don't need when everything else is going on.
I'd call them to clarify exactly what you are/aren't covered for and ask for it in writing! I always log the date, time and person I am speaking to when I call them.
Best of luck
Sorry, that turned out longer than I had planned:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Thanks, shelly. We will call them maybe tonight or tomorrow.
It is just that we still don't know if there is anything wrong with us, as we don't have OH's results. I was feeling rather down yesterday after appointment, although I was told I am fine. But still - it could be a problem with me: tubes, or anything else. We basically have been told that I ovulate, but we knew that already...Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
I know your frustrations ginvzt.
After 5 years of trying for us I try not to think about it because it does me no good. I think we are at the stage of....oh well, we will keep making love with no protection, if it happens it happens, if it doesn't its probably not meant to be.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. Hi All
I'm a newbie to this forum, I have been reading for a while and going along with all your journeys I can identify so much with you all!
So heres my story
Been trying since we got married in august 2006. Finally went to my GP at the end of 07 and got referred to the Gynae specialist in Jan 08. Since then we've gone through all kinds of tests and just dont appear to have progressd anywhere with getting any help with our problems
At first I was told I had PCOS yet I have regualr periods every 29 days, my ultrasound came back fine on my ovaries yet they say I am not ovulating, every time i had the day 21 test it came back i had not ov'd and when I have tried those ov tests too never got a positve result. So how can I have a regular 29 day cycle?
I am desperate to go on clomid but DH also has problems with abnormal sperms so they wont put me on that until this has been sorted hes been for loads of ultrasounds done samples etc. Just getting nowhere fast! I keep trying to stay positive but am just feeling a bit fed up of well meaning relatives asking why we arent conceieving or saying 'itll happen soon'.
Also feel we are being let down by the hospital, I know they are busy and resources limited but you wait 2-3 months for an appointment to have a 5 min chat with you and nothing seems to get resovled!
Think IVF is going to be our only option but no idea how long waiting list is for that, at least 9 months i think.
Sorry to rant on but AF due today and I am getting the usual cramps! ARRRGHH!0 -

Hiya
I can't answer the query about having a regular 29 day cycle, but I can say my PCOS was only identified by a Laparascopy and dye under general anaesthetic. Even a HyCosy didn't identify it before then. The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0
