Nottslass, we are working on the 10% success rate as well, I do not respond to stims, but the embryos have been good quality. Our last embryo was grade 1 which we were told doubled our chances. I think they judge it based on ovarian reserve, no of follicles and blood test results.
I think Nicky is right it is a personal decision as to what you want to do. For us, I am not quite ready to give up, although I am not sure how I will feel after the surgery. Good luck whatever you decide, and remember that you are the one that will live with your decision, so make sure you can!!!

I've come on 5 days earlier than normal so a bit gutted, but at least it means I've been able to book my HSG test - its on 23rd February first thing so have booked the day off work.
Whats everyones experiences of this test? How much pain and discomfort does it actually cause? I'm trying to decide whether to book the day after the test off as well or just dose myself up with Ibruprofen0 -

Is that a hysterosalpingogram? The one where they inject fluid into the womb and xray at the same time? I have to ask because last time I gave advice I was talking about a different procedure:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Just an update...Af has shown up today, so im gutted and a bit embarressed
I really did feel so different this month. Oh well atleast i've got new symptoms for pms now .Just puzzled by the tiny bleed on CD25...maybe it was just one of those things. On the upside, im now off to buy some OPK tests and a BBT.
Just want to say thank you for listening to me, it really helps having people that understand and listen to ya (without thinking i'm a crazy woman).
Hope you all are well

Hi - Just come across this thread and thought I would share our experiences with you.
In respect of the HSG - my partner had heard all sorts of horror stories regarding the pain and intrusion (people are very quick to spread bad news) and whilst it wasn't a pleasant experience, she was able to sit up and have a cup of tea within a few minutes and no real side effects from the procedure. A little bit of discomfort, but nowhere near as bad as she had been told.
It is always good to exclude another potential problem off the list.
We'd been trying for about 3 years for a baby (not sure what acronym I should use here, but there are too many on this thread!); first 12 months were just being very lazy and expecting it to happen. Next 18 months were spent trying to get the timing right and still having no success. We moved house and went to the doctors to seek advice/ help etc and were referred to our local hospital for tests - I had a semen test which was fine and my partner had numerous tests, including the HSG, several internal examinations to check ovulations etc We were prescribed chlomid (think that's what it is called) for 3 cycles - first 2 didn't work, but thankfully the third worked - we found out the day we were off to the IVF clinic in London. Conception also coincided with my partner giving up work as we believed that the stress was having an adverse affect on our ability to conceive (we were just clutching at straws by this time)
We refused to believe it had actually happened as we were so used to negative results. We now have a beautiful daughter who is coming up to 6 weeks old.
Very best of luck to all on this thread.0 -

Yea that's the one, I just used the abbreviation as I wasn't sure how to spell hysterosalpingogram0 -

No problem. I had to ask because I get confused between the HSG and another procedure with a similar abbreviation.
Anyway, I have had 2 of these and from my own experience they aren't too bad but nice to know what to expect.
You are laid down and a speculum is inserted. Then a fine plastic tube is inserted into the cervix which goes just inside the womb (this might be a little uncomfortable) Then a contrast dye is put into your womb through the tube. For me this was painful (the doc said its normal for it to sting) and as it goes in and flows into your tubes an xray is being taken.
Its over in a minute or 2 and you are sat upright again. I had my results straightaway but don't know if that's the case everywhere. As you sit up the dye comes out and can be messy. I didn't know this the first time but the second time I went fully prepared
I was given tissues and had a sanitary towel already in my knicks. After getting dressed I went to the loo and cleaned up a bit.
I took with me spare pads, (quite alot comes out and the hospital I went to is an hour away) and wet wipes.
I had a little spotting afterwards because the tube can irritate the cervix and had just a dull tummy ache, like mild period pain but that went away in a day or 2.
If you need any more info feel free to PM me and I'll help as best I can.

Thanks shelly that information is great. I've booked a couple of days off work to just unwind after it. This will be my last test before I see the consultant on 30th March, got a day 2 blood test tomorrow and my internal ultrasound on 18th February.0

Good luck with it all Bunny1982 - I wont be around much in March as that is when my surgery is scheduled. Make sure that you write down any questions that you want to ask before you go in - the mind tends to go completely blank when you see them!!!
My Hsg (a LOT of years ago, it may be different now) was really painful at the time - but I do have a sensitive cervix! - but no lasting effects, able to go back to work that afternoon. (and I am a REALLY big baby)
