  • Congrats Pinkpig & hope the sickness goes soon for the other ladies..
I never had any morning sickness so was really lucky.

The folic acid I stopped taking about 15 weeks I think, just when the packet ran out. It wont hurt to keep it going though..

by the way.. I remember putting my name on the list back in February & thinking that October was so far away!! Now its here & I'm overdue!! The last 9 months have flown!

My main worry with the folic acid is the amount of them that I yacked up again :( But technically they are supposed to be precautionary... I just worry because I threw so many of them up I have no idea of how much I managed to digest... time will tell I suppose :(

I didn't take any folic acid because I didn't realise till I was 12 weeks. I'm a bit worried about it too.

Speaking of fFolic acid, I have my dating scan on Monday :p but at the mo by my calculations I am 12+4, when did people stop taking folic acid?
    Ems

I had a high dose of folic acid (5mg or 12 times the normal 400ug dose) to take each day and I took my last at 13+2 when the tablets ran out. I had to take mine in the evening because when I took them in the mornings I'd be dry-heaving and nauseous all day:o

  • Starting feeling the baby move this week and I am only 15 weeks. It is very re-assuring as I have been so scared of things going wrong!! I have my 20 week scan appointment through now on 21st November and it all seems to be moving so quickly now. The early weeks went sooooo slow!!

Announced it at work this week after I had received my NT test results and have started buying maternity clothes. It is so exciting!!
  • Congrats pinkpig!

I haven't taken it this time because I'm scatty. If you have a look http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folic_acid it'll show you alternative sources of folic acid. Basically, if you eat breakfast cereal you'll be getting folic acid there, you also get it from any leafy veg including peas and it's also in baker's yeast so if you eat bread you'll have it there too. It's such a small amount that you need, plus your body will always ALWAYS serve the baby before you :)

I've started the folic acid today - I think I'll go into the doctors on Monday and check the appointment date - I don't want it to be too late that the hospital can't fit me in for a scan!

    Congratulations!!!!

Is that first appointment for booking in and your first scan all on the same day?

My first appointment was at about 11 weeks, but was the full booking in, blood, wee and the scan.

I found out at 5 weeks, and that 11 week appointment seemed so long away!! Then after the 11 weeks one, the next appoint was 20 weeks - again - it seemed years away.

I promise you, the time flys by, i'm 24 weeks now and getting higher up the list at a scarily fast rate.

Should hopefully be having a sexing scan on the 8th November, when I'll be 16+5. If they can't tell the sex, they'll have me back in a few weeks at no extra cost. Mum thinks I'm mad to find out, but I want to know. If it isn't a boy, its going to develop a complex seeing as I'm already talking to baby Nathan!

Also, is achy pelvis normal? Its not that painful, more just an ache. Seems to get worse as the day goes on.

I've spent 24hrs craving oatcakes with melted cheese on now... I feel I am forever to be tormented... OH is in town at the min, I might ask him to look for some... But he's not very good for searching out things that aren't electronic....

I'm taking folic acid at varying times throughout the day when it occurs to me to take it but they're by the bed so take one last thing if I forget... I also make sure I eat cereal every day (currently nutty on crunchy nut cornflakes.... yes I know they have peanuts on...) But I had a friend who had an anencephalic baby and she was always convinced it was because she didn't take her folic acid regularly enough and I suppose that's always stuck with me. I took pronatal with DD until 12 weeks then sporadically after that just for the vitamins... I have something similar here we bought on honeymoon because I forgot the folic acid and they were on offer in boots, I'll probably take them sporadically until they run out too...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.
