  • Snufflin - how lovely to be so positive about your pregnancy - good on you!

Bargainaholic - Staffordshire Oatcakes of course! Are there any others...with bacon, cheese and mushroom - YUM! I live in Wolverhampton now but I still work in Newcastle so I can either pick some up and bring them home or better still - order them in whilst at work :T :D (ready cooked of course!)

pinkpig - congratulations on joining the club!

As far as taking folic acid goes I have to admit that I was just terrible at remembering to take them - I bought the pregnacare plus type and I had to throw the oily ones away because they made be hurl and I still have half a pack of the normal vits left. As my MIL says - all these things didn't exist when she was having babies and they smoked and drank all through - not taking a few pills is not going to be the end of the world...

When I woke up this morning hubby had a huge smile on his face - he said he had been holding my bump for ages and could feel bubba moving as I slept! I am so pleased that he can finally feel how active his son is and think it is hilarious that I actually managed to miss his first time!

Ooh, just wanted to say, I was in the Argos bargain clearance shop in Walsall this morning and they had a travel system, the kind that is an umbrella fold buggy with a car seat for £50! Was really tempted at that price because one thing we're going to need is a new born car seat... But think I might wait until the scan... Just in case...

  • hmm - I have only ventured to Walsall once since I moved down here 12 months ago but an Argos bargain clearance shop sounds tempting!!!

I meant to say did anybody watch coronation street last night? I was in floods of tears and was uncontrollably sobbing when Liam died and Maria was placing his hand on her belly and talking to baby :o bl00dy hormones!!

Argos bargain clearance has stocked us up for christmas the past 3 years!!

I missed it last night, how did they do it in the end? And how could Maria have not told him she even suspected being pregnant? OH was stood outside the bathroom when I did my 2nd and 3rd tests... lol... I text him to tell him I was doing the first one... But I joked and told him I got it from the pound shop so he told me the test would probably say I was a man... My point is... he was involved in the process...

I've spent 24hrs craving oatcakes with melted cheese on now... I feel I am forever to be tormented... OH is in town at the min, I might ask him to look for some... But he's not very good for searching out things that aren't electronic....

I'm taking folic acid at varying times throughout the day when it occurs to me to take it but they're by the bed so take one last thing if I forget... I also make sure I eat cereal every day (currently nutty on crunchy nut cornflakes.... yes I know they have peanuts on...) But I had a friend who had an anencephalic baby and she was always convinced it was because she didn't take her folic acid regularly enough and I suppose that's always stuck with me. I took pronatal with DD until 12 weeks then sporadically after that just for the vitamins... I have something similar here we bought on honeymoon because I forgot the folic acid and they were on offer in boots, I'll probably take them sporadically until they run out too...

What folic acid are you taking? I thought they were all 'one a day' or have I misunderstood what you have said? :o

  • Congrats, Pinkpig!

I still take Pregnacare every day which has folic acid included but the advice is to make sure you take it at least up to 12w to reduce the chances of Spina Bifida in baby. Hand on heart I can say I have never missed a day as my conscience wouldn't let me! (just like remembering to take the Pill I suppose ).

OK, what the heck are oat cakes?! (apart from cakes obviously made of oats! :rotfl:). Never heard of them  :o. Oh, apart from in the biscuit isle maybe?

ETA: Congrats, mirrorimage and welcome to the thread!

  • Was only half watching and missed Wed but I thought the same - my hubby was with me when I tested and if he hadn't been I wouldn't have been able to hold my water and go off on a night out without telling him!
He got run over outside a club with Maria on her way in a taxi to tell him! Tony is a bad, bad man!! Anyway she had his hand on her tummy and was saying 'can you feel your daddy? remember him, he loved you very much' - or something like that I was too busy blubbing!!!

I was sad for about 2mins until I remembered what a lying, cheating, excuse of a toe-rag he was :rotfl:. Maybe its my hormones making me a tiny bit harsh!

It's probably my waffling... I only take 1 a day... Just depends when I remember as to what time of day I take it...
