Spoke to my Bro on the phone, he was incredibly helpful, gave us a name that me and OH both agree on!
He also said I should look into getting a Nanny. That isn't going to be nessercary is it? Does everyone else manage without help? I don't live near family, so its just me from 8am till 8pm.
Also, how long after the birth would I be up for a 250 mile trip to parents?Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -

So would go through 2 a day...however ds1 used to throw half his bottle back up so needed changing after almost every feed!!!
I guess within a week or two I will have gone shopping for clothes with baby anyway, so will buy colours then.

Question for all the mums who've been in the maternity units...
I know we have debts but we are incredibly fortunate that it's what Martin would refer to as "good" debt
As it's coming up to christmas and being pregnant myself I can't help but think that in the large hospital where I'll be giving birth there is bound to be some ladies on their own or with little or no money... DH and I talked about this before he went away last week and thought maybe it would be nice if we donated something to the hospital to give out to those in need... like packs of infant nappies, sleepsuits, little hats and socks... stuff like that. Nothing biggie, but maybe just a little helping hand when stuck in hospital with little money etc?
Do you think the hospitals would accept it? And do you think anyone in there might appreciate it, like when you where there was there anyone you saw who you thought might have been grateful for a little help like a 3 pack of sleeper suits and a little hat and a pair of baby socks...?

Thanks angelfairy, I always had muslin squares on hand always, had one on my shoulder for winding spilages etc, it ended up being a comfort thing my LO has one now as a comfort blanket. I know some people choose not to use them but personally I wouldn't have been without them.0

Mrs Tine I think that is a lovely idea! I would check at the hospital for sure I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who could do with a helping hand. I know when I had my LO they did have stuff on hand for people just in case but I'm not sure if that was supplied or donated but definitely think that's a lovely idea.0

Are you going to share the name:p.
I'm not sure about a nanny, I have always just managed and I am on my third now. But I suppose if you have the money a nanny or possibly even a cleaner would be helpful. I have always found that the baby gets the care and attention required whilst the house starts looking like the local tip:o
AF I don't know how you have managed with oh knowing the sex and you not
Mel xUnless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

Or am I being silly
That's a really sweet idea MrsTine.
I'm not sure about 'normal' maternity units, but I have knitted tiny woollen hats for the premature baby wards and they are gratefully received.
Do you have any midwife friends or nursing friends who might be able to advise you on the best thing to donate and to which ward etc?
Oh, and please report your findings back as I would be really interested to hear how I could help too :Ar.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
Well I have my scan monday so I guess I could nose around a little and find someone to ask
Will report back!

MrsTine - not sure what policies hospitals have in place, but i think it's a nice idea. perhaps when you visit your hospital for your antenatal classes (if you are doing those and not the NCT ones) you could ask?
Alex1234 - i dont mind if they become a comfort blanket as i have seen that many times before.
as for the best places to buy muslin/cloth i am looking at ebay/boots... any other suggestions?0
