OH changed jobs a year ago, so we go out with a new group of friends most of the time now. I was hoping that being pregnant would stop them pushing drink on me, but it hasn't! 'Just one won't hurt' - why the need to try and persuade people to drink? If we wanted to, we would, no need to try and talk us into it!
    Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.
  • Krystal - I'm so jealous, I love Michael McIntyre, hope his arm is okay. I keep trying to persuade OH to go to places like that with me, are they funnier 'live'?

Also, what happens at a 16 week appointment with the midwife?

Feely - it was me! MM was very funny, and clean (mostly) which you don't get so often these days. I would have no qualms taking an older teenager to see the show. Some of the people we have seen are so blue/near the knuckle that you really don't know whether to be offended or laugh (Jimmy Carr and Frankie Boyel spring to mind) and you see people there with 15 or 16 year olds who took them along because the kids like them on mock the week or whatever :o

Back OT - 16 weeks at midwife is more bloods to check for downs and spina biffida (may depend on whether you had the earlier downs tests), a general chat and you get to hear baby's heartbeat :T :T :T

You can opt out of the tests if you want to.

  • Hi everyone,
I just found out yesterday that I'm pregnant :T, very early days though (4wks) so hope you don't mind me coming on to say hi, you are the only ones I've told (apart from hubby lol!), I have a gorgueous little boy who'll be 2 on Nov 15th but before him I had a mc (hope that's the right shorthand, bit new to all this!) at 7 weeks so reluctant to say anything to anyone else till around xmas time (saying that because I'm very petite I started to show at about 8 wks). So yeah, I hope you don't mind me joining you all looks like my due date would be approx july 7th. How is everyone finding their pregnancies? xx

Hi Alex - welcome to the board.....

MrsTine, hopefully the sickness is easing for you now you are reaching the 12wk mark. Good luck for monday too.

I have been feeling so down the last two days, i'm not really sure why either. I think it is due to finances, as dh has just become a full-time student, and everything seems to be falling apart at the moment....I'm sure it will all settle down. On a positive note I have just booked (naughty me) for me and dh to go and watch OASIS next June at Heaton Park in Manchester....I am so excited:j :j :j

Thanks redmel :) So far today so good - I didn't throw up when the dog came back from her walk with her dogwalker STINKING to high heaven of cow poo... normally that would set me off so that's a start!
Now I need to decide on whether I can face washing her or not lol... can't really wash her with the hose - it's too cold so that would mean my beloved bathroom and I KNOW she'd shake... hmmmmmm
Can you fit a GSD in a small shower cubicle you think? cos right now she's locked in the hall to stop the rest of the house honking :rotfl:

for all of you that are already mums (and dads) how many baby grows to you recommend that you have to start. i know people will buy gifts etc, but i am just wanting to have a set of white baby grows to start with for when bubs comes home. i know they go through a fair few in a day.

    is 6 - 12 silly?

Hi Angelfairy, with my LO I had about 3 packs of sleepsuits (I think 3 or 4 in each) and the same for the vests, to be honest I didn't need them all in the hospital because you're right presents etc but they didn't stay unused for long when I got home so fingers crossed my PG goes ok this time I would definitely do the same again. Hope that helps:cheesy:

    Hi Alex,

Congats on your BFP and welcome. I had been tryingt to say away from the boards today, but I have calmed myself down a bit now (work wise) so i thought i would surface :D

I too was thinking for when i got home, so i guess i am the right path but perhaps closer to 10 to 12??

Also, for spillages/feeding etc.... is there any preference to using a cloth nappy (although i wont be using these for bubs) or muslin???

AF - I've got 9 white baby grows. 3 are Newborn and 6 are 0-3mths...if there are no accidents and it stays clean all day then I would just change baby in the eve after bedtime bath. So would go through 2 a day...however ds1 used to throw half his bottle back up so needed changing after almost every feed!!!

I guess within a week or two I will have gone shopping for clothes with baby anyway, so will buy colours then.
