Interesting survey/study about drinking in pregnancy :)

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7699579.stm

Not that it applies to me as I haven't fancied alcohol for the last 2 1/2 months although I think I've had a total of 3 glasses of champagne when we've told people about Bean :)

  • interesting reading, i have had a small glass of white wine spritzer since we found out because we was out for dinner and i fancied it. but with my first i didnt realise i was pregnant, (didnt start showing till i was six months) and was running a pub and more or less constantly had a drink every day (until i found out) and a quite a few drunken nights and fortunatley enough doesnt seem to have had an effect on my eldest as he is top of his class in everything and has a good understanding of the world and education (although i must say his common sense is soooo lacking its scary at times)

I dont drink at all during pregnancy, i'm not really a drinker anyway and have no desire to drink tbh.
Feeling better this morning, only woke up at 6am for the loo, so had a pretty good sleep, couldnt get back to sleep though coz OH wanted a morning quickie lol
It's my neighbours birthday today so we are taking the kids trick or treating then having them over for diner and drinks, although it will only be the men drinking as me and his girlfriend are both up the duff :rotfl:

  • I didn't fancy drinking at all up to about 18 weeks and then because I entered the feeling fairly normal part of pregnancy i did start to miss it a bit on a weekend so I have a Wine and Soda but I have it made like the wine is cordial so a tiny bit of wine then the glass filled right up with soda, so you get the taste a little bit but i'm sure its so watered down there can hardly be any alcohol in it.

I don't drink at all when we are out, I remember last time having half a lager at 41 weeks with Millie and getting some really funny looks but i figured it wouldn't make much difference that late in the day!

I was pregnant over new year with DD and it was amazing how many people were pushing me to 'just have one... it won't hurt...' I always used to say that considering her parentage I wanted to give her half a chance of having half a brain...

And Tine, I think everyone worries that there's nothing there... I have done both times, even though no periods and ALL the symptoms... Your scan will be so amazing, that little cluster of cells you saw last time will be baby shaped now!

Ooh, and MFD, I nearly went to see Michael McIntyre for my hen night but we ended up in Jongleurs because it worked out cheaper... I don't think my hubby would of shouted out if he asked about pregnant women though... We bumped into Dylan Moran while we were on honeymoon in York and hubby was too shy to say hello to him! (I was not... although a little disappointed when he turned down our photo request seeing as we'd paid £80 for tickets to see him the night before off eBay!)
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Mirror what is this iron-ing that you keep mentioning? I'm not familiar with this term! :rotfl:

Krystal I know it's normal to have panic moments especially before the first proper scan... It's just hard as hubby isn't here with me and to re-assure me it's fine :) But he'll be back home tomorrow! YAY with pressies for MEEEEEE :rotfl:

So far so good today... felt little icky but not too bad! Fingers crossed for a good day!

well appointment went really well. Bloods were easy (well as easy as these things ever are) and sample was fine. My MW is lovely and took time to explain the way baby was lying and how to tell what was the head etc by feeling aorund my bump.

It was great to hear the heartbeat again :D It sounds fast, but they won't tell us in case we jump to conclusions about the sex!

I am measuring just right for my dates and was given a clean bill of health and she was happy to see me next week to write me a fit to fly letter. TIP: she told me she would write me one for free, the doctor charges £10 a time!

Oh - and I am a jammy devil. I won a copy of the book Martin was giving away called what to buy baby (although it's not arrived yet?!) but I came home last night to discover that I had won an hours at home pregnancy pamering package from returntoglory via a babyworld competition :D I'm going to save it until just after Christmas when I will be the size of a bus and ready to pop!

Congrats on your wins r.mac! I remeber seeing martins competition, but figured I wouldn't bother entering seeing as I'm never going to have a baby!

I feel pretty rough this morning - the heaving is worse than throwing up and incredibly painful. Sickness seems to have come back with avengance, and I'm out of medication, so I've just got to spend most of the time lying down. Desperately need to wash up and cook - OH isn't very sympathetic and I know the house beig in a state really annoys him.

Krystal - I'm so jealous, I love Michael McIntyre, hope his arm is okay. I keep trying to persuade OH to go to places like that with me, are they funnier 'live'?

Also, what happens at a 16 week appointment with the midwife?

  • Just wrote a long ranty post about the supposed new 'research' in the news today and then my computer crashed  got an IT bod on the case now (I think it may be terminal)

The medical evidence today is exactly the same as it was yesterday - the data for the study they are talking about was collected in APRIL 2005. There has never been any medical evidence to suggest that a small amount of alcohol does any damage, the government just decided in March 07 to change the guidelines because it was easier to tell everybody no than to let them make informed decisions.

    Clearly a no-news day
