I have a cut-in-half plastic cup fom the water cooler I keep in a freezer bag in a bag in the cloakroom outside the loo at work that I use as a 'collection pot' - washed thoroughly I might add. :rotfl: I take a stick in each day, have a cuppa at 8:30 and then test at 1:15, so I can have a drink with lunch.0 -
Hi everyone!
Well, it's been a busy weekend and I am kinda glad it's our 'night off' day on the SMEP as I feel grotty and not really up for any bd-ing. We have stuck rigidly to the plan, though, so have to see what happens. Last night of bd-ing tomorrow and then the big wait
Hope everyone is ok, and my fellow SMEP-ers ae getting on alright!

What's SMEP? Sorry if i'm being thick
We went to Boots today to get the the digital thermometre and fertility diary, NOT very MSE because I could have bought a cheaper thermometre and just used a notepad, naughty meI just couldn't be bothered wondering around the shops looking for a digital one because the weather is horrible here and my sciatica is playing up. Still a bit annoyed at myself for wasting money, oh well.
It says you have to do the BBT testing for a few months before you can really get a clear picture of when you ovulate, I don't want to wait a few months, I want to be pregnant now!! :rotfl: Sorry i'm being a bit mental today
We also bought a twin pack of boots digital pregnancy tests, just so we've got them in the house for when we need them. Definitely not doing any tests until i'm at least two days late, must be strong!! Only cost £10 for two digital ones which I thought was quite good.
You know when you're on the pill you don't ovulate (on you didn't on mine, cilest) how can you get pregnant if you were to just miss one tablet? Does it completely void the whole month? I've missed one pill in a month plenty of times and never caught, must have been lucky I guessIt's quite scary that i'd been on the pill for about 8 years and I don't really understand much about it.

Hi fatty
I can imagine it's hard when you so desperately want to be pregnant but you're body is playing games with you! Hopefully you'll either get your AF or a BFP soon, least you'll know for sure then0 -

Not at all  - SMEP is the Sperm Meets Egg Plan. It's an 'intensive plan' to try and ensure that the swimmers are there ready as soon as the egg is released. A few of us here are trying it - I googled it last week and there seems to be anecdotal evidence for its success. Several ttc message boards had posts from people trying it who have since updated their signatures to say how far pg they are, or that it worked for them. Here's a link for it if you're interested:

Ha after reading your post I am now v tempted to get a thermometer and fertility diary, what am I like!! I like the idea of being a bit more precise about when I ovulate, especially if my cycle is not going to be very regular. Does it say how often you have to take your temp and what time?
£10 for 2 digital tests does seem v good as the Clear Blue test I got in Somerfield was just over £10 for one test, it did have a conception indicator too, not that that was any use to me, lol!!
I dont understand the whole pill thing either, I just made the mistake of googling it and some peeps are saying their AF came from anywhere between 5 weeks and even 2 months  Mine had better not take that long!!Baby Toby born 17th Nov 09 :j0 -
Thanks AnnieM - Just so i'm clear, you do it every other night from day 8, then when you get a positive on the ovulation stick, you do it 3 nights in a row then skip a night, then do it the next night. Are you not supposed to have sex at all then? Until you either get your AF or BFP?
I think it's that the case we might not try this just yet because it could mean going without sex for a good couple of weeks each month and I don't want sex to be just about making a baby. Maybe if in a few months we're still not pregnant we'll give it ago. I can totally understand why people would try this though
Fattybooboo - Yes you're supposed to take your temp every morning before you even get out of bed or have a drink or anything. In the book it has like a chart where you can plot your temps and then you can easily see the rise in temp. It cost £12.99 from Boots.
I might get some ovulation sticks to use next month, they were £16 in boots though, I really didn't think they'd be that much :eek:0 -
Hi AnnieM,
I bought the boots fertility thermometer and book a few months ago, you have to be really acurate with time for temping. I also found it easier to register on www.fertilityfriend.com and log my temps on there rather than doing the book as offers alot more information and alot easier.
I have to say I'v just moved onto the clearblue fertility monitor this month so no more temping which I have to say I'm pleased about. It has definately helped me to know my cycle alot more though and spot patterns even when my cycle isn't always the same length. Also showed I don't ov until day 20 usually so quite late on.
Good luck

Yup - not sure about the not having sex after tho... my cycle is only around 25 dys anyway, and as this is my last cycle before we seek assistance I'm getting desperate so will give anything a try!
Try access diagnostics online for ov sticks - much cheaper than boots0
