  • Thanks :D I've had a read about checking the cervix...not sure i'll be able to tell any different to be honest but I may start having a poke around :o

I think i'm doing my OH's head in already, he thinks i'm going to get obsessive but I'm not, I know it can take a while and i'm happy to just let nature take it's course. I just like to arm myself with as much info as possible when trying something new :)

You will, but also the cervix can change throughout the day so I think you are meant to try and check it at the same time (I don't :) )

There is no harm in getting lots of info on something I say-it meant that my miscarriage (blighted ovum) was caught earlier than it would have been had I not bee on the ball (would have carried on till 12 week scan I reckon which would have been horrific, was bad enought at 8 weeks)

You can always try it and see what you think.

Also see my OP about what doc said about AF and ov :)

I can't remember if you said before, but do you know that you ov'd?
Might be no ov this month hence no AF? I read that this can happen, or maybe (if you didn't know) you may have ov'd later? Sorry if this was mentioned before-brain like a sieve sometimes :p

    Hey!

    Good luck :)

Just wanted to add...I've been off the pill a horrifying 7 months and no period yet - so if you don't get your period for a while, don't worry, it's just your body getting rid of all those nasties

Also in case anyone may know...I haven't had a period thus seemingly haven't ovulated - is there any way I can temp etc to find out when I am, before a period? - Confused much?! :)

    xx

If you are regulary taking your temperature you should be able to track when you have ovulated as temperature will go up and stay up for at least three days in a row (mine usually goes from 36.1-36.3 to about 36.5/36.6), in theory if your temperature stays up you may have conceived but it will drop down again if AF is on its way.

Ideally you need to take your temp first thing in the morning before you do anything (this isn't practical if you have a 9mth old with no patience icon12.gif).

My temp went up when I was ttc last time and did stay up when AF didn't arrive so there is some truth in it.

I aksed doc about AF and ov and whether you can have an AF without an ov, and she said that pretty much if you have no AF then there has been no ov (however there are always exceptions...).

If you take your BBT in the morning, either orally or vaginally (no ta!), as this is a good way of seeing if and when you are ov. There are rules to doing this and deviations from them can cause slight differences in temp- I am alright at the rules but not strict as sometimes difficult and don't find too much variation. The short version is that you plod along at temps of ~97-97.5 F but can be outside this (my thermometer if in Farenheit as shows smaller temp changes than celcius, I do believe) between AF and ov then after ov there should be a temp rise of > 0.4 F (I think, as this is from memory and TCOYF book- to do with progesterone being produced and making your body a nice cosy place for fertilisation etc) and your temp stays high during the luteral phase until dropping at time of AF- rinse & repeat as necessary ;) Luteal phases range in days but apparently this part of your cycle is pretty much fixed, it is the follicular phase prior to ov that varies. The rule goes that if you see high temps contunuing for 18 or more after the temp shift then there is a high likelihood that you are pg.

Phew, that too a while :D

I am still waiting for my temp shift, grr!

Sorry was still typing my answer when you responded.

I didn't do any tests, but judging by CM I think I did a bit later than usual. More than two weeks ago though. Also I think some months I ov twice, so I may have ov'd earlier too but BDing disguised it.

It's just odd. I think I should have a chat with my doctor in Monday if it doesn't show up by then. I'm just frightened of going in case I get the mean one.:o
  • Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind me popping in. :o

Would like some advice on cycles.

We want to TTC soon. I came off the pill 4 months ago to get it out of my system. My AF has never been regular so have made a note of the past 3 months. Could you tell me what my cycle is and when I would be most fertile? I know I have to get an OPK but just roughly, would be a start. This is all so new to me. :o

    Hi,

You seem to have fairly short cycles (26 days) so I would starting using Ov stick around 8th day just to be sure (this works differently if your using the clear blue ov). You could always try taking your temp for a month to get a better idea but you usual ov midway through your cycle.

I know that you can ovulate and kick out multiple eggs at about the same time, but not at different times in the month- will need to Google this......I didn't think this was possible? I think your body can get ready for it then just not release an egg (but it looks like you have if you are only looking at CM- temping would show that there was no shift and hence no ov) and it then happens later on. So it might be that you are just later then usual, although I know people have mentioned before that BFP was not seem until being a bit further on so who knows? If you are worried though there is no harm in going to see your doc (although I have a hard time getting an appointment this week, place was full with sniffly/coughing folk).

It is possible, it may even be slightly more common than not ovulating at all. I often seem to ovulate around day 16 of my cycle and again about day 23. I did ov tests one month that I thought it was happening and the tests showed two ov days.

It's also the suspected to be the explanation behind superfecundation, where fraternal twins have different fathers.

Yes it is Gracie. I have had it happen maybe a handful of times in all my years of having AF. A few things that can make you skip a period are not oving that month, stress, rapid weight gain/loss and starting to do excercise.

If I were you I'd do another test on monday morning and depending on the result either jump for joy or call your GP for advice. If this is the first time you have missed an AF they might say leave it for now and see how next month goes (this is what my GP did and I was ok the following month)
