  • Little bear has had a long nap. I had a bit of an upset tummy (residue of tablets - any info is tmi, trust me) and of course, just as it had finally run it's course the postman knocked and rang the bell. So little bear slept through me being rather poorly, the postman knocking and ringing, me hanging out of the window shrieking for him to please wait a moment, then I ran down stairs, pulled open the door took the parcels and apologised for the delay in this weather and the door banged shut! However a few minutes ago a pin dropped and little bear is now back from the land of Nod.

I have circular knitting needles. I have never used them before, so a great adventure lies ahead.

Due to intestinal problems I have not got the soup on, but I have got a few recipes sorted out (thank you Pink for your help) and the second lot of washing in. Soup and breadmaker are next on the list (depending on little bear)

I shall now go and see how many clothes little bear is wearing.

Bethebee - hope all works out for you, it must be very worrying.

Moliere - I have a weak ankle. It is so embarassing when you suddenly fall. I once fell down a huge flight of steps and bounced off a litter bin at the bottom and the looks that people gave me as if to say, 'drinking at this time of day' were far more unpleasant than the fall. I do hope you get better on both feet soon.

(btw - of course I hadn't been drinking, which is a shame because it wouldn't have hurt so much then :p)

Morning gang, hope this finds everyone at least dry and warm. Wet and windy here. Everyone sounds very busy today. Me? well I haven't done a great amount(nothing new then:o ) Rupert is being very very naughty today-he had tried to wee on my foot(don''t ask), had a go at Lucy, knocked over a pile of paperwork and chased Simon:eek: .
Today I will make some stock and probably the shepherds pie that I was going to do yesterday. I ended up doing a stir fry last night as I needed to use a few bits up. I bought a bag of Tesco value stir fry veg last week and I have to say they were fantastic. Used up the small bits of fresh veg I needed to use and half a bag of quorn up and some of the value stir fry mix-it was really good a great selection and well worth the money.
Other than that today its just sorting stuff out nothing earth shattering but useful all the same.

I've been scaning through breaking news, it looks like Iceland government will bale Icesave out of the sticky stuff, won't bore you with finance details.

I have withdrawn every peny from ING also as I think they are shakey, £32k of mine and £32k of DH.

I know it's a lot, My Dearest Aunt died last Nov and I was one of three beneficaries in her will. It took untill May this year to sort out the whole of her estate which gave me and my 2 cousins 244k each. I had just joined OS here so kept quiet.

Didn't mention it as I didn't want to get thrown out of the Money Saving threads, I still do the OS as I always have and always will. I have been able to help all of my family with a cash gift and felt happy to do so.

    Please let me stay :o

MIOLIERE, Just read about your fall, hope your not to shaken up. ((hugs))

Thanks for the good wishes for me and my feet. I must seem like a real attention-seeker!

Beth - good luck - that's a lot of worry.

    Well done, D&DD - that's great!

Course you can stay Betheebee. You're a true OSer and I love reading your posts. :A If we had to leave if we had a bit of money Pink would have had to go years ago as she's minted [STRIKE]on account of being tighter than a knat's whatsit.[/STRIKE] :D;):p

Nice to see you Pixiedust. Hope the boys troubles are behind them soon.

Back again, and caught up, but forgotten most of what I wanted to say!

Cinny - enjoy the Mighty Boosh, my ds recites sketches at regular intervals!

Twit - rice in the moski is 2 x volume of water to rice and just put in a dish in there, think it takes about 20 mins - this is from the moski thread, not experience! I bung my rice in the microwave for 12mins!

To whoever wrote about the sausage plait, that sounds like just the sort of thing my kids would love, will write it down and give it a go on next week's meal plan I think! Thanks!

Celyn - well done, not long now!

Elona - thanks for flu jab info, I am going to get it done this year I think, will check whether our Sainsbugs has a pharmacy, don't go there that often and can't remember lol!

Well the jam maker seems to have done its juice extraction thing okay, will let it drip and then add the sugar and set it off to do its thing! I'm all excited! My friend who was round yesterday is still teasing me about my kitchen gadgets and how I get excited about them, still he did concede that I do use them all regularly! Have now put some granary bread in the bm, 5hrs is ages though, fancy some to go with my new jam so will have to wait!

Aussie, just remembered, how are your dgs's hands now?

bootsalebabe - might have missed it, but was your dd okay after the argument with her oh?

    Afternoon all.

Mioliere you really are in the wars lately. Your post today reminded me of the day, many years ago, when I first realised I needed to start using a walking stick. I was out with Penny-Dog, and took quite a bad fall - my left knee gave way, and I ended up on the deck, flat on me @rse. Couldn't get up - no-one around. Didn't know whether to worry cos I couldn't get up, or be grateful that no-one saw me. Finally managed to struggle to my feet, after about 10 mins. Penny-Dog had wandered about 20 yards away and was standing there with a look about her that said "I'm not with her.... I've never seen that woman before....."
Then there was the time I went base over apex outside the pub..... on the way in!:o You have to laugh or you'd cry!

Have taken stardrops and a stiff brush to the shower screen this morning, and I was amazed how much dirt came off. Washed some towels the night before last (WM on timer to use night-time leccy) and they wern't properly dry, so had to use the TD to finish them off. But I put them in at 05:30 this morning, when I'd emptied last night's washing load, so all done on night-time rate. Anyway, I currently have a whole lot of Mr LW's clothes on the A-frame over the bath - situation normal at this time of year.

Anyway, I think there might be a cup of coffee with my name on it somewhere, off to investigate.:D

((((Hugs)))) to all who want/need one, and hope everyone has a good day.

Mioliere, sorry to hear about your fall. It's always a shock when you fall. I hope your ankle's ok.
Beth, I'm glad your savings will be safe. I had mine in B&B and was a bit worried a week or so ago (to say the least).

Ok........short synopsis of this morning's call. :D Haribo disturbs my tranquillity by warbling loudly down the phone. I respond with a few choice expletives. :o She then proceeds to tell me the OS things she's getting up to during the day. Not to be outdone by a young whippersnapper like her I try to compete and fail miserably (although my lot had a cooked breakfast! :p )

We then take it in turns to moan about our various offspring. Both of us pretending to listen to the other and making appropriate understanding noises while actually reading the OS board. She catches me out at this a lot. :o A quick moan about Dad just about finishes that bit up.

Then we get to the nitty gritty and the husbands. The competitive streak rears it's ugly head again at this point....which is why she is so peeved at me today. :D  Apparently the only action in her bedroom last night involved the spills and thrills of a hot water bottle! :rotfl: Apparently dbil asked her to feel how wet his pants were and she refused point blank saying she remembers where that got her last time! :D

In between all that we usually manage to have a gossip about Aussie, but that's about it... so not nearly as exciting as anyone would imagine. :o But we do have a lot of giggles and when she isn't singing down the phone she makes my morning. ;)

    Pink who better scarper fast!

Oh, more posts, can't keep up with you all today!

Beth - sling your hook, you imposter you! No of course we want you here, os isn't about how much money you have, it's about how you live your life, but what a fabulous amount of money to inherit, though not a nice way to get it I know. And how lovely that you have been able to help out your family with it. I hope that you manage to find safe havens for it all **whispers** is your mattress getting fuller? lol xx

Kathy - it's always the little injuries that seem to be the most painful, and never gain you much sympathy! I hope that the pain in your ankle, isn't as bad as the embarrassment when you tripped!

Penpen - how fantastic to be able to sing there, bet you're excited! I would love to do something like that, the main drawback being that I can't hold a tune for long! Some would say at all!
