  • Afternoon all,

well how strange to come home & read the rest of thread being about falling over - that's exactly what I did at Uni this morning!!!! My ankle twisted over the edge of a path and I hit the ground on my knees with a real bang :( The cappucino I'd just bought & had not one mouthful of went flying too.. So I have muddy jeans, and grazed knees & through the day have felt more & more achy - think I have really jarred everything, so at home & curled up on my bed... Kathy, at least you had some nice people to pick you up (my mates just laughed at me - till they realised I was hurting!!!!) So, yes, Mummies can fall over!!!!

Diva, I won't worry if you miss the "i" out - it's really annoying when there's a word you mistype every time you try though, I do it quite a lot with w*rk"!!
Jayward, nice to hear from you, such a shame you felt you had to stop the complaint but at the same time, if you feel it's having an adverse effect then it's the right decision for you.
Betheebee, of course you must stay!!! To me OS isn't about how much (or little) money you have, but instead a way of life.
KaatLady & hester, hope you two both feel better soon too.

Off to find some nurofen for now - think supper will be toasted sandwiches all round (as DD's can make them for themselves - and me!)

Squggily hope the knee improves very soon. Re the "fallers! I used to be very very good at falling. Once when I was a teenager(at that very self conscious stage) On Market street (one of the main shopping streets in Manchester) you used to be able to get to H Samuels via the department store next door. Anyway, I needed something for my watch either a battery or a strap) Well I walked through tripped on the first step of the stairs, went head first down the lot, got on to the bit in the middle(the stairs were a flight with a landing then another flight down)did the most perfect summersault thr type I never managed to do ever)then straight down the bottom flight landing on the very plush carpet with my skirt round my ears and underware on open display to all:o
I was in a heap and vividly remembet the very cool manager comming over and asking if I was looking for anything in particular:o :o:o:o .
Thankfully i wasn't hurt(only pride) and even better the shop was empty. Its a skill you know............
Have a great evening. Ann xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Friends, I can't move a penny out of Icesave, web has blocked all dealings.
Iceland banking have been on beeb 1 all afternoon, Gordon and Govenor of Bank of E. and Chanceller are in crisis meetings as I type.

I have withdrawn every penny and closed all accounts with ING and Kaupthing Edge, will be online to check my C/Acc first thing on Friday, it takes 3/4 days to clear. Everything crossed.
Must go to 'beds are us' for a thicker mattress, thanks for the suggestion, think it was MUMMYSAVER, if not sorry I have forgotten, have a few things on my mind.

REDRUBY, Where's the Arms you mentioned, I have been onto the Savings thread but just got scare mongerers on there and the obligitory PR*T who sais Nah, NAh, Nah, Nah Nahhhhh. There's always one !!

AnyHoo, I did get some cheap veg at the market today so plan to do a rattatoo-ee and got some ys Pork, so dinner sorted for tomorrow. Also some knocked down fruit.

HARIBO, You made me pebble-dash the screen with Prozac (only joking it was a large Brandy, o.k. joking again but the way things are I'm tempted) when I read Pink, tight as a knat's derrier.

PINK, You also made me laugh with your post, you are a double act aren't you?

((((((((( Hugs to all of my friends)))))))))) Thanks for letting me stay.

Well, having survived the stubbed toe I now have a swollen ankle - on the other foot! I hadn't intended going out today but the postie brought me a cheque that I thought wouldn't arrive until next week, so I decided to drive down to the village and pay it in to the bank. Of course, it's pouring with rain and I slipped and fell in a huge great puddle right outside the bank. :o:o:o I went skidding along on my knees and just lay there in a sopping wet heap clutching my handbag. Three very elderly gentlemen (I swear they were from Last of the Summer Wine) very tenderly lifted me up and carried me to the nearest bench and sat with me while I recovered. Bless them, they were so concerned and I was so grateful because you feel such a twit if you have to get yourself back up! Anyway, I must have had a hell of an audience when I fell because, as I limped back through the village to the car park, loads of people were asking if I was alright now! Heaven only knows how many people watched me fall! My raincoat is now in the wash and I'm sat here with a bag of frozen peas on my ankle, which is so swollen it looks like my right breast has slipped down there! I do this at least once a year - I think it's because I rush around and I really should take it more slowly.

 Kathy you certainly dont do things by halves do you !!!! and picking up MEN at the same time, ;) Hope you feel better soon, and slow down or goodness knows what you will do next :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
    Take care

Sympathetic (((hugs))) to Squiggly - you and me both! Hope you're not too sore! I now have a very elderly limp which will probably mortify my DGS when I collect him from school tomorrow!

Anniestar - I'm glad I'm not the only one! There's Squiggly, too! I was wearing jeans, thankfully, so no real indignity occurred! It really is embarrassing, isn't it? I'm always so glad when someone helps me up - I hate just being left to lie on the pavement getting bad looks!

Pippa - no Richard Gere in shining armour but they were real gentlemen and I was so grateful for their help.

Beth - I've just been watching the news about Icesave and it's very worrying - I do hope you don't lose out but it looks like a long wait until you will know for sure.

Well, DH is working late. Of course, being a man, he didn't think to let me know so dinner is being kept warm. I didn't want to phone him in case he was driving at the time but I started to get worried that he may have had an accident so I phoned and he hadn't even left work; anyway, he should be home soon. I'm starving!

    Anyway, I'll call in later.

Evening all :hello: No Whatatwit, they haven't traded me. [STRIKE]I am far too busy and important[/STRIKE]

I haven't even been there this week, I have horrible horrible earache..not life threatening I know, but very annoying. I can't settle and am pacing around as i can't concentrate for too long.

Chicken stew and dumplings for tea - was going to be soup, but I over padded :o I also made an orange traybake and DD2 helped me to ice and decorate it when she came home from school, very late as her IT class were "held back" for 30mins. Can they do that without warning? I was getting very worried

I am later than ever today :o
Went to Mums this morning and she was down in the day room, as some of the ladies who live there have a shop on Tuesday mornings, ooo they dont half make a racket when they get together  :rotfl: Hope I have half their energy when I get to their age, some of them are over 90, so that gives me 30ish years :rotfl:
I was pleased really as it means she is getting her strength back, mind you I didnt go in there, I made the most of it and went and vacuumed the flat.

Had a phone call at around 1:30 from the Doctor's, asking if I could go and have my flu jab today as they had a spare appointment, so off I toddled at 2:30, surgery was empty and I went straight in, I was back home within 20mins, makes a change they are usually very busy, as they have a lot of the students from Birmingham Uni and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on their books.

redruby the mince plait sounds yummy, and sunnyday love the sound of the meatballs, :T

Beth course you can stay :A as has already been said its how you live, not how much you've got that makes you an OS'r.

jayward poor you, I hope the latest painkillers work for you x

Diva Yep it sounds like thats the third thing ;)

KAAT and Hester hope you both feel better soon :grouphug:

WBSybil you are doing so well, keep thinking positively, and well done with the scarf, HM soup and HM bread :T :T

morwenna earache is awful, have you been to the doctors ?

  • Oh Anniestar, your post did make me smile - sounds like a very spectacular sight...and the reaction of the manager was priceless!!!! I agree, it is most definitely a skill!!

My head/neck ache has cleared now, probably down to a couple of hours dozing in bed, but my knees are all grazed & sore... And that was through jeans. If only Richard Gere had been around to pick me up ;):) That would have made me feel much better....

Morwenna, earache is horrible, hope it goes away soon. I think holding the class back for 30 mins without notice is a bit irresponsible - as you say, parents worry and those children may also have to collect younger siblings. I would be inclined to contact the school & point that out. And even more relevant as the evenings draw in too.
Betheebee, what a worrying time for you, and not helpful when you get idiots like those on the other thread. Really hope you get it all sorted soon. I remember when I got a new mattress for my bed - the difference was enormous. I also have an old double quilt on top of it, under my sheet & that makes it feel even more snuggly. I love my bed :)

Redruby, you reminded me I forgot to say to W-Sybil earlier how well she is doing too!
Troo, are you having fun with your new printer/scanner now????

Think I will hammer on the floor & persuade one of my DD's to make me a nice cuppa now :)

    xx
