Beth I hope it all goes well for you. Must be very worrying. So far things are not as bad over here. But it's in the news all the time.
Haribo I just read yesterday's thread and I'm sorry that beast said that to you so bluntly. I tried to tell you gently years ago you looked older than Pink. <hugs>
MeanMarie Ulick sounds the perfect patient. You'll be a smaller dress size in no time.
elona The flu was bad over here again this year. DH & I both get flu jabs. They cost $20 but free to those most as risk. At Boot's price everyone should get them.
Well off to shower and hit the sack. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Morning  I'm at w*** so this is just a quick on (I'm bored, bored, bored
)
I've signed up to sing the Messiah in York Minster in December, and thought of Bargain Rzl :j :j :j I've ordered the CD (plus the Dvorak Mass that we're singing at Easter).
Pink - I'll ring you tomorrow morning and sing to you, if you like
Haribo - how was DH's birthday? Belated :bdaycake: for him
Lasagne and salad for tea.
Have a great day, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Aussie and Pink. May I refer you both to my signature.
Be afraid ladies.
And Aussie I'm sure the swimming pool will be sorry to hear you won't be back. They haven't seen a crocheted bikini absorb water like that for years.
Beth I really hope you can get your money moved. xxx
I managed to get ahead with myself today. The housework is done, fire cleaned out and laid and living room dusted. I've just sterilised 24 jars and prepped all the ingredients to make strawberry jam, raspberry jam, green tom chutney, spitfire sauce and strawberry wine. So I have a busy afternoon ahead.Penelope_Penguin wrote: »Pink - I'll ring you tomorrow morning and sing to you, if you like
Well I hope you don't get the barrage of abuse I got. Honestly... You try and bring a bit of joy to the life of an old woman and that's the thanks you get.
OH's birthday was fab. Thanks for asking.
Bye for now.
Haribo x
PS... Pink are you dressed yet?0 -
Morning!
Wasn't going to post as not much in the way of OS going on here, but I have to say Bethebee, everything crossed for your savings. What a dreadful worry, such a large amount. DH is constantly looking at the news, and depressing me further. Think my tiny stakeholder pension will be virtually worthless by the time I get it:rolleyes: Good job we'll not be relying on that to eat;)
elona, thanks for the headsup about flu jabs. Where have I been living?:o Obviously walking around with my eyes shut because I spoke to my GP about them and he said they cost £70 to have done privately:o :rotfl: Think I'll get myself down to Boots pretty sharpish:D
Pink, I can manage the next day after Penny if you like. I sing like a frog in pain:DJust thought again, what am I saying, I don't do mornings either:rotfl: But I have some good nights like you;)
((hugs)) to those in need, hope you have good days. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Morning everyone! Grey, wet and gloomy here, feel like widow twanky again there're so many piles of clothes everywhere! If the kids don't put their stuff away tonight it's off to Oxfam with it! Guess that means I'd better put my stuff away too, lol!
Put meat, veg and other bits in moski ready for cottage pie for tea tonight for the kids, will serve with some cabbage since I still have loads from my cheap stockpile the other day! Need to put bm on as well, knew there was something I'd forgotten!
Finally got to grips with the jam maker and am attempting blueberry jelly as we speak, well as I type! Got the blueberries reduced from £2.99 a pack to 15p, only 150g in a pack so had to buy several - who on earth pays that sort of money? Also got several bags of parsnips for 4p each, salad reduced from £3 to 15p, and some soup/stewing veg bags for 8p each. Real bargains! Was chatting to the lady reducing the stuff and she said that she is reducing more and more of the "expensive" pre-prepared veg, guess people just can't afford to waste their money any more. Anyway this was at work just in case anyone wants to know - our final reductions are meant to be done at 9pm, and as there is so much to reduce at the mo they are being done from 8 - 8.30pm ish.
Not much planned today, should really do some ironing I think, but will have a nose around on here first! Only just caught up on yesterday's thread, so will make a coffee and have a browse through todays and catch up with what exciting things you've all been up to!
Haribo and Stef - thanks for the laughs, I'd recommend face cream and hankies lol!
Sybil - you are doing so well at the moment, I think we have all seen how far you have come since you've been posting on here, it was great that you were able to take LB out again on your own. Please try to phone your dr and let him/her know about your reaction to the tablets, I'm sure they wouldn't want you to have to suffer or wait for an appointment until next week. But meanwhile we are all here to cheer you up and onwards! Or we can say there there if you need it too!
Squiggley - good luck today! Cya in your spare time, ha ha!
Candygirl - great news about the flat, I have an oil filled rad from last winter when our gas went doolally, I got it in Lidl and it does a great job of heating up the room in no time, and it has a thermostat on it, doesn't seem to cost much to run either. A timer so your dd could set it to come on before she gets up sounds like a good idea though.
Marie - take care of yourself, Ulick sounds like he needs a Hatty Jacques (sp?) style ward sister to come and sort him out, glad he seems to be on the mend though.
Beth - glad Ben is doing so well now.
Daisy - well done on resisting the toast! And on your no spend day!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Hi all. RedRuby - thanks for the idea! I'll do that next time - I've just turned the sausagemeat into a meatloaf with some onion and Paxo stuffing and wrapped it in streaky bacon but your idea sounds lovely.
Well, having survived the stubbed toe I now have a swollen ankle - on the other foot! I hadn't intended going out today but the postie brought me a cheque that I thought wouldn't arrive until next week, so I decided to drive down to the village and pay it in to the bank. Of course, it's pouring with rain and I slipped and fell in a huge great puddle right outside the bank.:eek:I went skidding along on my knees and just lay there in a sopping wet heap clutching my handbag. Three very elderly gentlemen (I swear they were from Last of the Summer Wine) very tenderly lifted me up and carried me to the nearest bench and sat with me while I recovered. Bless them, they were so concerned and I was so grateful because you feel such a twit if you have to get yourself back up! Anyway, I must have had a hell of an audience when I fell because, as I limped back through the village to the car park, loads of people were asking if I was alright now! Heaven only knows how many people watched me fall! My raincoat is now in the wash and I'm sat here with a bag of frozen peas on my ankle, which is so swollen it looks like my right breast has slipped down there! I do this at least once a year - I think it's because I rush around and I really should take it more slowly.
Anyway, I'm not going out again today. I shall try and do the ironing sat down and wait for the lecture from DH. He's always saying how clumsy I am and I really am. I can fall over nothing.
Anyway, apart from that, I hope everyone else is well. It's been pouring with rain here but I don't mind if it means that the next few days will be much better, as we've been promised.
See you all later.
