  • Hi sybil,

My favourite soup that includes bacon is Delia's minestrone but you'll find loads of recipes on this thread: Soup recipes

Thank you so much! I had been browsing the recipes collections but I get a bit lost :o I am so looking forward to having a go - this is my first attempt at bulk cooking and freezing, but I think it is going to be so beneficial (and fun).

Also, if my postman delivers the 20mm knitting needles I have ordered I am going to try knitting with video tape.

    G'dday Possums, :D

Yes I know I've been a bit slack in not writing regularly on the daily but I've been slack in other area's so I think I should be excused. :D I had DGS today and we made Elderflower Cordial early this morning, 7am to be precise  and then we went off to shopping/library at 9am. After nap this arv been doing yard work etc.

Swimming on Monday did not go very well. Four in his class & he screamed the whole time. Ninny had to go in with him eventually as he was scaring the others :Dand it was freezing. He's been put back to the tadpoles class in the earlier time slot. Mind you when he goes to DD flat where she has a pool, he has no fear and won't get out.  I'm not going next week. My fuse is too short. :D

Tomorrow mornings plans are to vacume/wash the floors & try and do some more work on my top. DGS will be here after lunch and is staying the night. <hugs> to everybody that needs one. I hope you all have a lovely day. Byeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Anyone considering going for flu jabs- the cheapest seem to be Superdrug at £9.99 each.

Sainsburys ( with a pharmacy) are £12.50 each or "two for £20!"

Boots are £15 each but slightly cheaper for two people.

Last year I could not get one of my DDs done as she was 13 and they could not deal with under 18s!

This year Sainsbury say they can deal with over 12s!!!

Fingers crossed that we can all get sorted as the flu has been really bad this year in Australia, as well as last year.

Miserable day here, dark and wet!

Going to have a nice hot shower, get changed and have a look at the charity shop and also post some stuff.

The book I ordered from Amazon has just come through the letterbox- "Recession 2008" by John Middleton and Ken Langdon- doubt if it will tell me anything I do not already know, either from experience or from the threads on here- but worth a try in case it does!

    Hugs to everyone

If I can get my self moving I want to make lentil soup and home made breadrolls for tonight.

    Fingers crossed for your Beth

Boring old housework again, I only did it last week too  ;):D

Ironing next, and then listen out for the gas cooker man who is coming to look at it as I found the kitchen door that is next to it, heat damaged the other day. I expect he won't have whatever he needs to sort it and will have to come back, but I live in hope. Tesco delilvery to listen out for too. Couldn't find any discount codes this week for a change. It seems to go in cycles though, doesn't it.

    Have a good day all

    Morning everybody :hello:

I've had a rotten cold for the last week or so but it seems to be on the mend now.

Hardly spent anything on going out etc. last week so used the money I saved to re-stock the freezer. I figured out that with very few additions, I can keep myself in main meals until Christmas  :D I've currently got more portions of shepherd's pie, sausage casserole and mushroom risotto than I can actually fit in the freezer, so am having to do some ingenious stock rotation to make sure everything either gets eaten or frozen before it goes off!

I am going to the optician this afternoon and am not expecting it to be cheap because I know I need new glasses. It will be nice to be able to see clearly out of my right eye again :o:D Dollond and Aitchison are doing half price eye tests plus half price complete specs if you sign up to their contact lens scheme (which doesn't lock you into a long-term contract). You can get cashback to cover the cost of the initial contact lens consultation, and a free pair of non-prescription designer sunglasses (non prescription sunglasses + contact lenses negate the requirement for prescription sunnies and make life much easier, not to mention the choice of non prescription sunnies being infinitely more inspiring than the choice of frames for prescription ones!)

Hugs to all who need them :grouphug:

    Morning all,

A quiet morning here. I've just been preparing tea...meatballs in an onion gravy with mashed potatoes and broccoli. I need to be mega organised this evening because Ds1 will be home late as he has rugby after school, ds2 goes to his maths tutor on a Tuesday evening and Mr Pink is rushing out after tea to go a meeting about ds1's school trip to Norway at Christmas (wish I'd had that kind of opportunity at his age).

As most of you know I'm not good in the mornings...so once I've got ds2 to school I like to come home and waken up slowly with at least three cups of coffee. Not this morning...I had Haribo on the phone warbling 'the sun has got his hat on hip! hip! hip! hooray!' at 8.50am _pale_ to get her own back on me for laughing so much yesterday because some stranger thought she was 40! :rotfl:

Aussie, good to see you posting.
Elona, I can't make up my mind about the 'flu jabs.
Beth, I hope you get your ISA's sorted out.
Candygirl, I'm glad dd is getting her own place and it's quite near to you.
Pipkin and Jet, the bickering stops eventually. I've been quite amazed in the last year to see dd and ds1 getting on well and being nice to each other.

Anyway, lots to do. I'm about to put dd's cuddlies into the washing machine. I hope they'll survive but they really do need cleaning. My theory is if she was that attached to them she'd have taken them with her. Only two more 'big sleeps' until she's home! :j
