" Dumbed down " is the term I would apply, like almost everything else on the Beeb these days, it looks like the makers of CBeebies have taken over.

There is a saying "If it ain't broke, don't mend it" and this is a prime example.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
• It's a groundbreaking format: the first to make the rest of daytime TV look highbrow.

I've just sent an email to the program working.lunch@bbc.co.uk expressing my disgust at this travesty. I hope others will do the same.

Dave.

Edit: I have also used the BBC's complaints process online to make my feelings known http://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/.

To think I actually paid for my TV licence renewal this morning ... Doh! Unless they buck their ideas up, they can whistle for my licence fee next year.

I despair of the BBC. They're getting rid of all the older presenters who have experience, personality and gravitas and replacing them with brainless "celebs". Everything is being dumbed down yet the salaries for these people are going up. The sooner we have to stop paying a TV licence fee the better. Working Lunch was about the only daytime TV programme I've ever watched, apart from the news but don't think I'll bother any more if this is what is going to be dished up.

Yes Adrian Chiles moved onto "The One Show" which is on 5 times a week. It does contain a few good items but much of it is celeb orientated dumbed down rubbish.

Bring back Adrian Chiles !
I wonder why it is, that young men are always cautioned against bad girls. Anyone can handle a bad girl. It's the good girls men should be warned against.-David Niven
• I agree, it's now an awful, awful programme. The old programme was superb, complex enough to tackle the big issues but explained in a way that appealed to a general audience.

What I liked about it was it seemed to be presented by intellectual businessmen and economists who do presenting on the side, rather than presenters who do business, if that makes sense. This was evident by the sometimes rather disjointed style but that gave the show personality. Now we see the undignified spectacle of the interesting Adam Gompertz(?) sat around waiting for his expert opinion condensed into a 30 second soundbite.

It just looks like any of the other hudreds of cheap daytime programmes designed to appeal to viewers of Jeremy Kyle. I will certainly be sending an e-mail - thanks Oblivion.
