I don't think a lot of us would mind it just that these stores made the point of saying they would take them and are now backtracking. It was all ok to do when Asda and Tesco wanted to out do each other. Thanks for any help and advice given

That's fine by me, I'd let you put it all back on the shelves too, I certainly wouldn't.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
I too have left shopping in stores if they won't accept my coupons; I can always find a friendlier store who DO acept them
yes, we know you are not really MEANT to give in coupons unless the products are purchased, but stores including the holier than thou Asda have been accepting them
likewise they take total spend coupons for other stores in order to drag their customers away.
It wouldn't be asda being cheated by coupon use, it is the manufacturer. Asda have been more than happy to take them for their own benefit, so sorry but they are hypocrites.I can be brown I can be blue I can be violet and sky. I can be hurtful I can be purple I can be anything you like..Gotta be green gotta be mean gotta be everything more...0 -

actually it is - i worked in the cash office and all coupons are recorded with a transaction - if the product wasnt bought when the coupon is used asda cant claim the money back that was taken off your shop. therefor the 10p or whatever your taking off is being lost by asda - if your a big shop it can add up to hundreds of pounds a day0 -
if this was true why have they been taking them for years and still take them i went friday and used £9 in coupons0

its cos each store did what they wanted really, but it wasnt that long ago a new guy took over the running of asda and think hes fed up of folk "taking advantage" of the coupon thing and making it a whole asda policy0 -
I'm retired now but was in business for 30years...we took coupons for money off if the product was purchased, but that was not recorded seperately just deducted at the end of the sale as part payment just like they do in supermarkets...all we did was total up the coupons every few weeks enter them on a form and send them off to the handling house. Then we would receive a cheque for the amount claimed plus a handling fee...so the supermarkets do make money from taking coupons, and they get the amount deducted for the actual moc back...it's definitely in their interest to take them.Although it was a tedious task for us for small amounts , it must be a huge sum for Tesco/Asda etc and well worth doing0

Sorry you are dreaming, this simply is NOT what happens in a large Supermarket cash office, you have got to be joking my friend. :rotfl: :rotfl:
Nice try though.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

On Friday in Asda Coventry, I had ALL my internet coupons rejected, even where I had bought the product, so I emailed Asda and this was their reply:-
Manufactures Coupons
We accept money off coupons. You don't even have to buy the product
shown on the coupon. As long as we stock it you can use your coupon
against anything in the store.
Please note this doesn't apply to cigarettes and lottery
Internet Coupons
We accept Internet Coupons under the same stringent conditions as old
style manufacturers' coupons:
1 That they are in date
2. They are not specific to different retailers (non Asda)
3. We stock the product
One temporary rule until we decide a more comprehensive policy is-
Only 1 internet coupon per product item in any single transaction -
Unless the customer actually buys the product and in multiples that
reflect the number of coupons tendered.
I've printed off the email and will be taking it into the store this week!0 -
that is the same 'current' policy that the girl from head office cs read out to me - she said that she had that mid-october.
the apparent 'new' policy she only learned about when she asked one of her managers.
i emailed them again yesterday, so will await another reply. it's a confusing shambles isn't it?0
