girl on till says we can't accept these anymore!!
she is correct in that she showed me the official national asda policy/letter in her folder.
it says that they will no longer accept coupons unless you have bought the item from 03/11/09.
i have just phoned asda head office and am waiting for a response - i have asked to know what their change of policy is based upon. unless there has been a problem with the manufacturers, what a time to stop shoppers getting 10% off their shopping?!
p.s. she took mine today as policy doesn't come into force until 3rd november - better use up all my coupons before then.
They try that with me and there's £100+ shopping, then I'd tell them either accept them or you can put all the shopping back on the shelf yourself. I take no crap from anyone. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
i agree and i also said that we would put a load of stuff back too.
but, it was official and i saw the policy in black and white (literally), and i have had the official line off head office before, previously in my favour.
when the supervisor was called i did say that we would go elsewhere in future.
i have had no call from head office yet - i will try again tomorrow and not come off the phone until i speak to them. i wouldn't mind, but the policy of taking 10% etc etc was their official policy. we used the coupons last week and nothing was mentioned. with a stash full of coupons, i feel more notice would be required.
i like your style! even today my OH scarpered to the kiosk when he thought there was going to be trouble;).0 -

If I am with friends and relatives, they usually walk off / out when there is any sign there might be a problem, they know what I am like, they know the whole shop / bank etc will hear what the issue is too, I've closed down bank accounts there and then due to them messing me about. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... My Asda told me this week that at the end of the moth they are changing their policy on taking coupons. She said they were all told this week, so looks like they are stopping it. Shame really as every little bit helps at these times, and doing it now when people are feeling the pinch might go against them with some customers.
I have e-mailed saying I think Asda have changed their policy at a very bad time what with the credit crunch. I have said that customer are already changing their shopping habits and going to places like Lidl, Aldi and Netto, and that this could lose them valuable customers.
Prob won't do any good but if we complain about it, you never know they might change it back. After all they need us as much as we need them. Customers will try other shops if they can save money. Thanks for any help and advice given

I am puzzled
Firstly how can an operator say I can't take these any more. We are not taking them from 3/11. It's only flippin october!!!!!!
And secondly, is someone playing silly beggars with that asda policy??? I've never EVER known asda to be so accomodating with coupons!
I am getting a tad worried about the general coupon situ tho. For years I have saved a fortune in tesco with coupons. I used £15 worth today in tesco and I so hope it doesn't all go bang!I can be brown I can be blue I can be violet and sky. I can be hurtful I can be purple I can be anything you like..Gotta be green gotta be mean gotta be everything more...0 -
Don't know if it's true, but when I said the the cashier that both Asda and Tesco said they would take these vouchers they did it to out do each other. She said she was told that it was going to be across the board all shops were ment to be doing it.
Now I'm not sure if she was just saying that so it did not look to bad on just Asda or not. I also save a bit on my shopping and as I have said I have a good few that were on boxes of cereal that I brought from Asda. Using one every few weeks they are going to go out of date. Thanks for any help and advice given

i have just phonesd asda cs again and spoke to a lovely girl who also spoke to a manager for me.
it seems the reason they are stopping this is because so many customers abused the policy. she said it is amazing what customers tried to get away with and they regularly had managers ringing them up to check stuff etc.
anyway, for what its worth i'm going to email my tuppence worth to them anyway:rolleyes:.0 -

i used to work in asda and i would have told you thats fine - ill put it back on the shelf.
coupons arent for money off - it clearly states on all of them its only money off if you buy the product - its not for money off (read the back of the coupon). there is getting money off when you can, and then there is being a cheat - using these when you, by law, are not supposed to use them, is being a cheat!
face the facts - complaining about them is being cheap and not in a good way. not meaning to casue any offence, but you cannot complain for not takign them when it says on the coupon its only for money off when you buy the object.0
