  • They are out there, most are Internet ones, so it depends on your store and if they will take them,

Also one of the best ways is just constant communication with the manufacturers with positive/negative comments on their products, you would be amazed how many respond with high value coupons on a regular basis

I have had around £60 in different mocs before, as my best total, but have only got about £20 at the moment, sob! And that's only thanks to the Good Food Show (nearly used up my booklets now).

The best times are when I have a nice high-value sainsburys spend & save (got some £10 of £50 ones on fleabay). Add one of them to a Tesco £3 off £30 tillspit, anything else useful Tesco have issued - like the fiver in the paper a few weeks ago plus a combo of the Tesco ones you get sent for £2 or £1.50 off wyb wine (or whatever) - then add in the usual pile of NSS mocs.

I must admit I have paid a few pounds sometimes this month, it was in my determination to use the Waitrose £10 off £60 from the paper (my Tesco store knew they were OK but insisted on the £60 spend - usually!). Mocs like that one make me spend more as I hate to waste them, also I wanted to get some higher-value gamesware pressies for my teens so couldn't keep within my moc budget on a couple of occasions. It was quite a shock to get the credit card out I must say!

They have to process all these vouchers manually though and claim through claimback forms. I had a retail outlet and I hated vouchers...I accepted them, but the administration and time take to claim the cash back was onerous and was far more costly than the 'extra' compensation I received over and above the voucher value.
That's a good point to counter those who trumpet the 2p handling fee.

A rough example, but say a retailer reclaims 300 coupons, which would generate £6.00 in handling fees. If it takes someone earning £6.00 an hour longer than an hour to process, then the handling fee hasn't covered the retailer's costs.

Although I've read on here that larger cash offices just bung all the coupons in a bag and send them off to the clearing house.

The friendly Till Manager at my local Tesco told me this is what they do, and they are not an Extra.

He seemed to think it is what all the local Tesco stores do in the County as well, he said they hardly look at the coupons in the cash office upstairs - except those that are returned unpaid weeks later which are discussed in Managers' meetings.

  • Once again I spent £200 in asda on my xmas food shop and used about 25 MOCS totalling approx £8.50 off the bill without them batting an eyelid and this was a totally different Asda to the one that acepted them the other day.

Yes its a lovely little booklet, we were lucky at the London show, sitting by the entrance tearing up a few booklets the guy arrived with a pallet full and had to carry them into the hall as they would not let his pallet trolly in, when we joked it would be easier to give them to us he gave us a full case of over 200 each!. So those are in good supply at the moment.

I didn't trumpet it. It was part of my reply. The MAIN reason Tesco take these coupons is to get business. if they didn't accept coupons the main bulk of my shopping would be done in Aldi, and there will be thousands of people out there thinking the same.
I just said tesco get the money back AND a handling fee, AND they get ur custom.
Also the poor beggars who have to count the coupons are not the people who brought the policy in! They're just staff who are being paid by the company and told to do that particular job
