thats crackers!!!
i have never done that!! :O
Then you have been paying out money you didn't need to. You're missing out!
It's Tesco policy to allow it (but you'll never see that displayed on a till or anything, thank goodness!). Just ask the cashier next time you have a coupon that is NOT a Tesco issued one, nor from/for another Supermarket only*.
For an example of such a coupon, look on page 20-something of the current New magazine (costs 99p). You will see a red & white coupon for £1.50 off OK magazine. Tesco and Waitrose will accept that off your Christmas food, or anything else, so by buying the magazine you are getting a free read and 51p off your shopping.
Doesn't sound worth it? Ask those of us who cover the cost of practically their whole shopping with one of each of every coupon under the sun...every day. There are a lot of unread copies of New magazine in my recycling bin! You can only use one of each coupon per transaction at Tesco though so there is more to it than that.
*BTW, Waitrose even accept their own coupons from their magazine without buying those products (Tesco don't).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Yes but I used the New magazine £1.50 coupon as an example because some newspaper coupons are not acceptable in Tesco.
For instance, there's a coupon for £2.80 in today's Daily Mail but you cannot use it at Tesco as they cannot redeem it*. Don't try, please, sadly it will scan as they share the same barcode system as other Supermarkets - but they will not get the money for it and abuse like that could result in your store changing its policy.
So read a few threads on coupons and ask any questions you need first. Or go out & buy New magazine & hand over the coupon in Tesco or Waitrose, as you know that one is OK. Almost every Tesco or Waitys will accept at least one coupon without batting an eyelid.
*P.S...you can use the Daily mail coupon legitimately in Waitrose without buying Tatler.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The reason I have been given from several Asda is that coupon use is not in proportion to the amount of money spent. They go on about this woman (who seems to get around) who uses loads of internet coupons and pays about 50p for her shopping. My local Waitrose will only accept up to 5 coupons now, due to this same woman :eek:0

Sounds like an old wives tale.
This woman gets £40 or whatever worth of shopping for 50p,so instead of telling her she`s not on,they penalise thousands of other shoppers.0 -
50p for your shopping??
That much???
dear me, she needs some lessons from coupon mad and myself! :rotfl:I can be brown I can be blue I can be violet and sky. I can be hurtful I can be purple I can be anything you like..Gotta be green gotta be mean gotta be everything more...0 -
Sheesh! 50p. There are loads of coupons for 50p or less. Never paid more than 9p for mine (Buts its normally 0,1,2 or 3p on a £70 spend (Can't find a coupon for less than 10p).Over 100k miles of Electric Motoring and rising,0

The shops actually get the money back plus 1p (or more in some cases)per each voucher accepted, therefore on a large scale shops are making free money for accepting the vouchers. This is certainly the case for hard copy vouchers, not sure if the same for internet ones!
They have to process all these vouchers manually though and claim through claimback forms. I had a retail outlet and I hated vouchers...I accepted them, but the administration and time take to claim the cash back was onerous and was far more costly than the 'extra' compensation I received over and above the voucher value.0 -
Vicki how do you manage to find £70 worth of all different coupons per shop?
As the policy is only one of each type of coupon I find I have to do a number of smaller shops per week to get the most out of my coupons. The most I ever have in one go is about £20 and thats only now and thenI can be brown I can be blue I can be violet and sky. I can be hurtful I can be purple I can be anything you like..Gotta be green gotta be mean gotta be everything more...0
