Morning all,
I thought I had everything ready, just the trifle to make and the table to lay ready.
My daughter came home last night with a gift from her boyfriend's parents for us. No real problem, I thought I could just rustle up something from around the house. There's loads of choccies and wine. OH thought we should have a peek to save any embarrassment and its only something a bit pricey. Off now to Tesco to try to find something a little more salubrious to send back to them. I hate going out on Christmas Eve. Its supposed to be my chill day before the chaos of Christmas and the following days.0 -
Good Morning everyone,
I have only to peel a ton of spuds for my youngest daughter and put them in water a big tuppperware box for her to save her time tomorrow. Then I have to make four dozen sausage rolls and a large apple pie for the other daughter as the ones i made the other day have been devoured.
Then a bit of ironing and a little bit of knitting to finish off a dolly's dress fior aa little girl, then I am done for today
I hope everyone has a smashing Christmas and a happy and peaceful New year and to all the lovely people on this site who have given me advice, support and a good few laughs this year Thank You so much.
Have a good one peeps and I'll be back after Christmas0 -
Morning all :xmastree:
Well, all my presents are wrapped, but OH wants to know I didn't wrap the ones he's giving meTypical!
Our friends our downstairs on the sofa bed, waiting to be fed bacon sandwiches (local bacon from the local butcher mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm). Bread from Hovis (OH's dad works for RHM, so that's why we have it!).
When they leave - and once I'm fully dressed - we're packing up both cars and heading towards OH's parents to see them and have fish and chips for lunch. Not my idea. Leaving some presents there, then hot footing it to my parents so that I can see a friend that I haven't seen for 2 years.
I am hoping that at the grand old age of 26, Father Christmas will still visit me as I will be at my parents. I will leave out my "My Little Pony" pillowcase as I have done every yearand see if he deicdes I've been good.
Meanwhile, I'll be down the pub
being good.
Christmas Day tomorrow will be kick-started at 9am by a service in the village church, after which I will help my mum/talk to whoever pops in/walk the dog. Oh, and OH will be there to take part in the festivities.
OH is working on Boxing Day - people will still need food - so will be leaving my parents' house early. It's either that or he doesn't drink on Christmas Day and when face with my grandparents, you at least need one glass of wine inside you!
Have a good Christmas everyone. :xmassign:
I am sorry to say that I am not joking about the My Little Pony pillowcase. It's just that I've had it since I was about 4! happy christmas eve everyone, i'm getting really excited now. :xmassmile DS birthday yesterday,so was a bit stuck wondering what to get him for christmas (apparently there's a prezzie that he is hoping santa will bring) he decided to tell me last night. so husband 's going to go and (hopefully )fetch it after work. keeping fingers crossed. kids are still in bed, will be making trifle later too, will be thinking of everyone else, and maybe have a little toast to you all ( not the bread kind) :snow_grin

Woo - hoo
It's almost here and, having slept for more than thirty of the last thirty six hours, I'm wide awake and ready for everything!
So the chicken is defrosting in the fridge, I have a stock of vegetables, the christmas pud is lo-o-o-ong since done...
..so, a mini cook in for few mince pies and jam tarts is about the only thing left on the Christmas to do list. Said mince pies to be made while tasting the first sample of port that I buy myself as a present. Both traditions, I guess
Then, maybe another nap
I think we've spoken of Christmas day traditions elswhere - but not christmas eve ones (such as getting merry/plastered while making mince pies) so who else has CE traditions and what are they?Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Happy Christmas everyone, and thanks for looking after me so well this year! :rudolf:
You've helped me to clean drains without nasty chemicals, cook my first whole duck to perfection, slow-cook tons of stuff and come up with inspired and old-style answers to all my housekeeping-style questions.
Thanks everyone!!!

Hi Yall, My thoughts are with all of you wrestling a frozen turkey to the ground this morning and consulting a job list that makes the Doomsday Book look like a till receipt. This is the first year in along time the MATH's have not entertained and I've got nowt to do! Mrs MATH is downstairs making a Lemon Merringue Pie (my Fav) with the help of two MATHLETTS. Little Miss MATH is still in her princess pit!
CHRISTMAS EVE
We are off this afto for a traditional, anual buffet 'n' mingle at my MIL's.
About midnight we pile up the MATHLETTS presents scan the radio stations for the midnight service/carols and then open ours together. The gifts get fewer each year:rolleyes:
CHRISTMAS DAY
Tomorrow we will all go to Church in the morning. The children all take their favourite Chirstmas gift to 'show'. Last year we had a my little pony neighing all the way through the Prayers of Intercession :snow_laug . The two MATHLETS in the choir will be singing the Magnificat and Non Nobis Domine which are two of my favourite canticles and then we will go to me Mum 'n' Dad's for the day. My sis is over from the states with her three who are the same ages as the MATHLETTS so plenty of noise and catching up as we havn't seen each other since last Christmas.
BOXING DAY
All Mrs MATH's family will decend to ours (so i don't get off totally scot free) but we're having a Christmas Pudding Fest with 15 different puddings and pudding wines and a cheese board. So not too much trouble.
Just in case I don't have chance later :
A peaceful and happy Christmas to all MSE'rs (and Martin) thinking especially of all my friends on the OS board. Your friendship and laughter has warmed me throughout the year and I pray that the Love that came down at Christmas be with you and yours. Luv MATHLife's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0
