  • Awwww, Pooky, hugs to all of you :grouphug:

I kind of know how you feel because last year I came down with flu on Boxing Day and was sick and alone all through the break and New Year. I wasted 4 weekend days, 3 bank holidays and 3 days' annual leave in being ill - and only missed 2 days of work

Just keep logging on here - we'll make sure you have a cheerful Christmas.

Girlpower - I really admire what you've done. More power to you.

Anyway, there was a rumour we were getting let off work at 2, so I left at 1:30 for "lunch" and never went back :D Went to Borough Market for Christmas dinner veggies, plus they were selling big bowls of avocados for £1 so I got 8 avocados for £1! Treated myself to a lovely Thai chicken curry from one of my favourite lunchy places near the market. Went home via the garden centre and didn't have to lug my Christmas tree all the way home cos I happened to run into a neighbour with a van!

Since then I've got one load of washing washed and dried, with one more now in the WM and another in the TD. So I need to get the first lot put away. I just fell asleep for a couple of hours and woke up not knowing what day it was :o and have just been watching What Not to Wear. Anyway, must go, plenty to do...

Oooh I've slipped a bit. Actually I slipped at the top of a hill that's covered in ice and went head over heels over and over again til I reached the bottom :snow_laug

It's buffet day in my house for anyone who turns up. So did I put on my apron, open some wine and do a load of baking? No I did not. I headed straight for the party food freezer section in Asda and bought about half of it :o

Merry Christmas to you all :xmassmile

and I lied, I don't own an apron

  • :xmastree: Morning all,

WM on for last time today I hope, then need to get stuck in making trifle etc.. I also luv trifle could eat it for every meal, always make two, one for kids with no sherry one for adults, oops the bottle slipped :snow_laug

The turkey will be cooked tonight so that I can dedicate tomorrow morning playing with kids and their new stuff.
Will be also going to church tonight as its carols by candle-light, really gets you in the christmas mood and gets rid of any built up stress.

The joint of beef I cooked yesturday was beautiful so will be having that in sarnies for lunch then its a takeaway tonight as a treat.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day tomorrow, :xmassign:

    Good morning all,

I don't often post but I'm ALWAYS reading so I just wanted to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year!

We are planning to bake the sausage rolls, scotch eggs and bits and bobs today. This afternoon we are going to snuggle up together and watch elf.

    OOooooo I'm excited now.

    Enjoy yourselves everyone :xmastree:
  • :xmassign: Good morning everybody,

Loads to do today.I've got to make the stuffing, prepare the little sausage and bacon rolls, peel all the veg, make giblet stock for the gravy and start the syllabub(thats what we always have with the pud).

I've also got to surreptitiously move all presents from wardrobe down to garage for easy stocking filling later.

    Nephew has 4th b'day today,so a visit to SIL's later.

Not doing any washing today so that I don't have a houseful of ironing and semi-dry laundry tomorrow.Still have ironing from yesterday.

I enjoyed Nelski's post, and welcome to moonbeam.I've only been posting here a couple of days and its addictive. :xmastree:

Gotta go, as have to sort out the pressies that DM bought for DD off Ebay!

DD and I have been invited out to Christmas lunch... and it's late enough for DD to have a much needed lie-in tomorrow morning. We'll see if, at the ripe old age of 13, she is so cool about it all that she can sleep in as long as usual!!!

Tonight we're having a special meal, just the two of us. It's been a long week of celebrations for us, what with DD's birthday party last Saturday! We've had something on every evening!

    Merry Christmas everybody!
