  • Morning everyone and hope you are all getting into the Xmas spirit :rudolf:

(No, MATH, not yet, wait until after lunch at least :snow_laug )

Still in my jimjams although been up since 7.. Took brekkie back to bed and have vegged out till now. Boys have been either playing or coming in to 'annoy' me :D However, had to answer the door to a man who wanted to fit some sort of electrical safety switch, cos he's doing it to all the HA homes  None of the houses around here are HA or council and he had to admit it did look a most unlikely street, so he thought he'd just go away (saved himself about 8 jobs today :D)

Anyway, remains of pre-Xmas cleaning to do and want to soak the ham today so I can put it in the SC tomorrow. Need to wash my bedding too. (we only have one set we use) Thanks for the reminder about the ice cubes, foreverskint - will put those in today too. :)

Have to go to Liverpool airport tonight - 6pm landing. It's going to be soooooo fun battling with the traffic tonight :( What IDIOT booked that flight? - ooops, me  However, MIL did tell me she was working until lunchtime today, but informed me last night that she finished work yesterday :wall: I'm taking some flasks of coffee, cartons of juice and butties with me. Don't fancy sitting on the motorway for 3 hours at teatime with no sustinence. However, in true moneysaving style, I've told them to ring me as they collect their bags and I can drive up and collect them - I'm not paying a fortune in the carpark :D We'll take some cd's and books and park up a mile or so away.

Don't know if I'll get chance to post on here tomorrow. We're burying dad's ashes/ sprinkling some of them on his garden tomorrow morning (only time all 3 sisters could be together) so it will be a strange Xmas eve for us. If I don't get on, all have a good Christmas and all get what you want (which for many will just be a peaceful and happy day as much as anything) Oh, and someone else to do the washing up :snow_grin

Now, what time can I have a baileys coffee? Not driving till 4, so, is it too early yet? :snow_grin

    Hi Yall,

We do something very similar at the begining of Advent too Queenie. Our presents go to a domestic abuse shelter so we're not allowed to know where it is but we have a special gift bringing service at church and someone come and collects them.

I can't beleive how little I have to do! All the cleaning is done, house tidy, presents wrapped. I'm really loving this going to others to eat at Christmas malarky. I've obviously been doing it wrong these last 15yrs entertaining the clan here. Now I've seen the light I'm not cooking another turkey ever again heheh

I've even got time to fit in my Christmas tan at the local salon, applied by a trained proffessional. How much training and in what profession I'm unsure. They sort of jet wash gravy browing on while you stand there trying to look look casual in a pair of paper pants.:o If you've ever seen the elephants being hosed down at Tycross Zoo... you get the picture. It's all done with a compression gun thingy which is worryingly like the Black and Decker jobbie I use for creosoting my fences. Oh well even if the tan isn't very realistic at least I'll be waterproof and guarenteed to be free of rot and fungi for 12 months:snow_laug When I next post I may look like the love child of David Dickenson and a bar of Toblerone hehehe

I went to Tesco's last night at 9p.m., and didn't get out of there until 10.30, it was mayhemQUOTE]

OMG!!!!! I went to our one last night with a friend at 10.20pm, we didnt get home until..............wait for it..........................2am  It was CRAZY. On the plus side though the girl on the till was tired and put through some coupons she shouldnt have :j So it wasnt a huge shop but did include a lot for xmas by way of treats and desserts and came in £26 under for this week.

Also very MSE is that we are staying with my SIL for xmas/boxing and the day after. She doesnt want anything taking execpt for some desserts and I've made most of them myself. The whole few days has so far cost me only £12 food wise :j

So today I am recovering from no sleep. Also will be doing a quick tidy as my buyers are coming back for another look at the house tomorrow at 10am. We also have DSD here tomorrow so will be giving her pressies to her.

Am off to make more coffee now, have a good day all,
    Al.

    On-off night again.

Spent over an hour and a half in Tesco last night for the big Christmas shop. It was a nightmare!!!

I feel so tired today, and I'm not really sure as to why

Still got loads to get ready for Christmas, but only got tomorrow to do it as obviously I'm at work now

Hugs to anyone who needs them

Morning all, still is morning I think.

I haven't posted much recently, it's been a bit stressful in our house these past few weeks. We've had a few problems which I won't bore you with but they seem to be getting sorted now.
Christmas is not a very happy time for me, my first husband died on Christmas Day. It's 11 years ago now and I am very happily remarried but I always feel sad at this time of year. This year for only the second time in about 40 years I am not cooking on Christmas Day, we are eating at a restaurant with our two sons who are both partnerless just now.
I'm still busy trying to get the house looking nice and I must clean the glass in the doors although I expect the dog will wipe his nose on them as soon as I finish. It's a beautiful day here and the washing is blowing merrily, might get away with not ironing!
I would like to wish everyone a very happy Christmas and my thoughts and prayers are with you if you are lonely, sad or missing someone special.

Hugs to MrsMW and kiwichick. It's hard to go through Christmas when you've lost someone. This will be the second Christmas without my Dad, and although he didn't die around Christmas, it was September a week before his birthday, it's still hard. So my thoughts are with you both
