Ho ho ho All,
MATH's posts always make me laugh, (whether they are meant to be funny or not!)
Johanne - selling your body as a last resort is probably the "oldest" of old style occupations! I walked out of a job years ago, and its the best thing I ever did! I got another job and that is where I met my OH, things are never as bad as they seem at the time. I am a great believer in fate, so Im sure it will all work out OK for you.
I have finished all my Xmas food shopping - Im not going near a shop now until at leat next year. I have been trying to think if I need anything in the sales and I cant think of anything, so will be avoiding them in the new year. Only thing I may buy is some black fabric as DD2 needs a character dance skirt, they are £19.99 in my local dance shop. Im sure I could make one for a fiver!
My mom has bought me some wool to knit a fluffy scarf like everyone is wearing at the moment. Both DD's have requested one too. So over Christmas when the out-laws are getting on my nerves I will get out the knitting needles and knit myself into a frenzy rather than say or do anything I may regret later as Im not good at biting my tongue. Its OH's 40th birthday on Xmas Day so dont want to spoil it for him, so will try to rise above.
Merry Christmas!0 -
Oh it's so dull here at work. There's nothing to do at all. I've done all the work for the next 5 days:wall:
Wish I was at home so I can get on with Christmas stuff. There's so much I need to do at home

Got up late.
Sooooooo drunk last night. And spent too much. Oh dear.
I am ashamed to say, we got to a point where we didn't care about what was being spent.
But OH and I haven't gone out and done that for years - so what the heck!
Luckily - went into town to finish the Present shopping, and the majority of stuff I wanted was reduced - almost by the amount extra we spent last night. So that became the hangover relief!
Thought that I was going to have to use the January Sales money to cover last night, but I dont have to now. So, been to Boots.com and spent £45 for masses of stuff. Everyone has a pressie now for 2006 and even bought some stuff for DD1 and DD3 (Jan and Feb birthdays) while I was at it. Sorted!
Garage called. The galaxy is not ready! They "may" have it done tomorrow, but definately by the New year.
What on earth do they think we are going to do until then??? Xmas Eve is the worst - the whole day visiting mine and his families etc is now split across one car that we cannot all fit in a the same time!
Well, wrapping tonight and get that done finally. Then feet up with a magazine.
Have a nice evening people!0 -
Have just done some pre-2006 birthday shopping thanks to the reminder in an earlier post from PP about the boots sale. I've just bought £93.30 worth of goodies for £36.56 including delivery!!!!! :j And got 136 points too so really cost £35.20!!!!!
They had an FCUK makeup brush set down from £30(!) to £2.10  Guess what DSD (darling step daughter) is getting for her birthday!!!!WW Start Weight 18/04/12 = 19st 11lbsWeight today = 17st 6.5lbsLoss to date 32.5lbs!!!0 -
We have been out all day visiting relatives and have just got back when a neighbour handed in a parcel.
It was a huge box of Imperial Leather goodies - 8 shower gels and 4 posh bath products - all from a magazine subscription I ordered - as a free gift!
DDs now deciding they want fed and that they need Christmas pressies to get each other - so it may be back out tomorrow.
Big hug to everyone having a tough time.:xmassign:"This site is addictive!"

Evening all!
Ive come to the conclusion that I am a moody old !!!!!! when skint (I was great last month because I got paid stacks and it lasted, and my pay is already gone for this month with another 4 weeks till pay day - this is where the conclusion came from) and this is why im taking it out on the boyf. It makes him not working seem all the more of a nightmare for me and I know that the more I work, it doesnt improve the situation.
I had a so-so day at work, lots to do, and had a meeting with management that happens every month which I thoroughly hate, but got interrupted half way through and hence have to do it all again tomorrow. Not fun. Finding a new job is numero uno priority over xmas. My DVD player got delivered today, but it doesnt work, so im sending it back. Id rather just get a refund since im skint and buy one later in the year. The car is now taxed and I can at least go and get my £120 refund from the DVLA from the clamping debacle, so things could be a lot worse in fairness.
At least tomorrow is Friday and then I get 4 days of leisure (where I have a big sit down chat with the man about 'where is your life going' and 'it really is time to get a job dear' ) which I fully intend to spend semi horizontal on the sofa watching xmas movies and wearing pyjama's. On that thought I shall go and practice, something goos must be on tv and im already in Pyjama's so it does kind of make sense...
have a lovely evening!

Hi all
jw - I fully understand where you're coming from. I finished my PGCE in July and had no income until I started doing supply teaching in September. Now that the term is over, and I don't start my new (full-time for 2 terms!! :j) job until 3rd Jan and don't get paid until the end of Jan, I will be living on thin air. Fortunately, I do have OH earning, but still, it was nice to have my own money. Of course, the overdraft that I ran up over the summer is no longer an overdraft due to me working, will soon be reduced to that again. That is unless I learn severe self-restraint for 6 weeks. Gulp. Doesn't help that we're getting married in the summer and that I'm pressuring OH to save as much money as he can (and I can) so that we can build up a decent deposit for a house................. It'll just be him putting in for a month until I get myself sorted.
Speaking of all that, I'm quite "buoyed" by Martin's MMR programme. It IS possible to save even more money than we already are doing. It doesn't help with Christmas getting in the way. Luckily I've managed to get most of my presents NOT at full price: I'm quite canny with the Boots 3 for 2 deals on Christmas presents, and The Book People website almost became my home page.
I went to the hygienist at the dentist today. Hmmmm, not very moneysaving, but I suppose it saves me in the long run from having large, expensive work carried out on my teeth. Fingers crossed.
I also met up with a couple of my college friends for lunch. We'd arranged to meet at 12 at a Toby Carvery (that wasn't taking bookings). Anyway, I thought that I was late by 5 mins, but my 3rd friend didn't turn up for another 40 mins  She'd had to "go into her school and didn't realise it was so far away". Ah well, at least she turned up, but by the time she got to us our chance of getting a seat in the non-smokey restaurant had vanished!
OH should be on his way back at some stage tonight. He was going to the pub after work with a friend, then travelling back here. It's quiche (yellow sticker from Tesco), new potatoes and peas for his supper. Nothing for me as I had that big carvery.
Ok, maybe a slice of toast................
