Morning all, :hello:
O/H went to work at 6am so thought I'd get up and have a bit of peace before the troops surface. :xmassmile Its his last day today and as christmas day falls on a weekend we will actually get to spend 3 days together (sat, sun, mon) he goes back to work on tues, can't really avoid this as its his busiest time.
Today is cleaning day, house needs doing top to bottom as tomorrow will be too busy cooking, making trifle any prep for christmas day etc..
WM on and will be hung out as quite windy outside just hope it stays dry. I do have a chunk of beef to cook later but it can be doubled up for dinner tonight.
MIL coming later  with kids pressies and to pick up her H/M hamper so will probably crack open the sherry with a mince pie or slice of chrismas cake.
Breakfast: Boiled egg & toast
Lunch: Sausage rolls and sarnies
Dinner: Roast beef, mash, veg & yorkshire pudding.
Have a good day everyone and don't work too hard, Bye for now

Good morning everyone,
Not a lot to do today as IT'S ALL DONE.
I only have to drive my youngest to her firm's Christmas lunch.I shall go and see my niece whilst she is troughing. She lives in the same town. Then pick her up and drive her home again ,hopefully not too inebriated (her, not me) Then home to finish off my ironing. I have two little sleeves to do to finish a doll's dress for a little girl that I shall see on Boxing day. I miss not knitting for my granddaughters .They are far too old for dolls now at 12 +13.Make-up and music are what they are interested in.
Trying to use up what is in my fridge as I'm away from tomorrow until the day after Boxing day. I hate to throw food out.So what can I make with two peppers cheese, tomato's,and two strawberry yoghurts ??
I am definately going to work my freezer down as I can't get anymore grub in there. Could get started on my New Years cleaning I suppose, this is a throwback to my late Mum .Being Scots she always scoured the house from top to bottom between Christmas and New year so a New year would come in to a clean house.
Have a good day folks0 -

Morning all! :santa2:
Feeling all Christmassy today! :snow_grin
Had a 'washing machine incident' this morning, emptied it out to find the south pole had visited and everything was covered in white bits - arrrggghhhhh!! Not tissue, but bloomin paper of some sort?? Anyway, shook all the washing out and put it in the TD (that helps, right?) and was wheezing from all the debris in the air :rotfl: Decided to hoover out my WM so stuck the hoover hose in and got out what I could. Sould I do a wash with nothing in it or something??
Anyway, wanted to say thanks to Penny-Pincher!! for the Boots.com tip as I got some great bargains for birthdays on there last night, also I think your elderly neighbour will really appreciate what you are going to do for him over Xmas, it must be awful to be on your own at this time of year.
Queenie, I think it's great also that you will be taking stuff to the homeless shelter, OH and I will have to sort something out I think.
Have a lovely Christmas Eve-eve!! xxxMortgage-free wannabe!0 -
Merry Christmas Eve-Eve everyone :xmassign:
Jo - well done you! :T :T Things are looking up. By the way, in Tesco at the moment they've got a slow cooker (Morphy Richards) for just under 20 quid.
I spent last night wrapping all the presents that we have bought. urgh. What a job. And there are so many presents. As OH pointed out: the people that we have bought presents for, have also bought us presents. Yes, I KNOW but it doesn't help me to wrap them, does it? Of course, he pulled the "You're doing such a good job at wrapping" card that he insisted on watching tv over the top of my mountain of presents.
I'm off to Tesco in a minute. I would have thought that I would have had enough of that shop to last me a lifetime, especially as we're not here for Christmas. Anyway, we've got some friends coming over for supper so I've got to get the bits and pieces for that. Luckily, it's all very simple stuff - we'll have chopped veggies and dips, chilli con carne and then OH will be doing his choccy pud from the Gordon Ramsey "Makes it easy" book. The minced beef will be from the local butcher.................. which is just opposite the really nice coffee shop...........................
I also need to do some of this pesky ironing. Especially as our friends are staying over and will need an ironed duvet cover. Not even MMR to keep me happy.
I'd better go before Tesco gets too full of people doing the same thing as me.

:xmassign: Good morning everyone.
Feeling a little more up-beat this morning, maybe because I feel I can finally start on the Housework proper before Christmas. I have done lots of odd jobs, but with a two year old and hubby who thinks that any empty space needs filling with 'bits' it hasn't looked tidy allweek. I keep looking at the Christmas tree and all I see is clutte:eek: probably because it seems to be permantly surrounded by decorations on the floor( 2 yo again!).
Anyway the beds have been stripped and the goose is out of the freezer and has been replaced with bags of water for ice cubes.
I went to Tesco's last night at 9p.m., and didn't get out of there until 10.30, it was mayhem, but very good humoured, and me 'I'll chat to anyone', had a few nice chats with complete strangers:rotfl: The good thing is I noticed a change in my shopping habits from last Christmas, a lot of things went back on the shelf, when i realised I didn't really need them/could do without.:j
Queenie & PP:grouphug: you are truely thoughtful people and haave inspired me to think about what we as a family could Do for someone less fortunate this Christmas.
Have a lovely day today everyone.0 -
It's Friday :j
It's Payday :j
It's my last day at work this year :j (and NY resolution is to get a new job!)
And rumour has it that they will be letting us loose at 2pm :j
I still have to get the Christmas tree, which I will be picking up on the way home from work, and the Christmas dinner veggies, likewise (Borough Market is on my way home and they do the biggest, freshest sprouts I've ever seen). My big problem at the mo is my lack of a present for my housemate. I suspect I shall be braving the shops in Bexleyheath tomorrow morning for that.
Haven't bothered bringing in a HM meal for my lunch cos I'll probably be going out with my best friend from work. We always look forward to the prospect of a lunch with booze as our firm has a strict no alcohol policy for all staff, so we can't normally drink at lunchtime - but today hopefully we will have been let out of the office by then!
See you later!Operation Get in Shape

Forgot to say, P-P, well done for all your bargains! Occasionally I'm passing that same little Sainsburys at just the right time in the evening and on a couple of occasions I've managed to fill my entire (small) freezer for about £5... and the other week I got a Thornton's Celebration Cake, which is normally £7.49, for £2!
(The disadvantage is that they seem to close at a different time every evening so it really is pot luck whether you time it right!)Operation Get in Shape

Just me and the babies up this morning. OH and two eldest are still in the land of Nod. The stereo is going on in a minute
:rotfl:
EDIT: and I posted that rather than previewing!!!!!
Off to the Farm shop once they are up. My shopping list this week is tiny! I have actually come way under budget this month and I am surprised!
OH is taking the eldest two into town to do some shopping and little ones and I are going to make an angel to go onto of the tree and some snowflakes.
I am off to see Patrick Stewart tomorrow - so am having a hard time deciding what to wear!
Have a nice day all! Glad everyone is feeling good today! :rudolf:0
