The Christmas Cake is iced. Looks very glamerous and I hope it tastes ok. Never made one before!

The only present I have wrapped is my works secret santa gift, and that was put in a Tescos value gift bag and was paid for with the voucher I got for doing the lottery survey...

The other presents are hiding under my bed.

I am burning music cds for everyone at work. Total cost 7.9p for each cd and 2p for envelope. Stupidly offered to make a dvd for someone which is going to take forever to encode. :(

This is my last day of work before Christmas. Despite working in retail I've been given tomorrow off :D Today is our busiest trading day of the year normally, and I am on a late. So I might end up in bed all day tomorrow recovering.

Tomorrow will be spent making minced pies and a trifle. We still haven't decided where we are going for Christmas Eve. The pub option requires tickets. The friends party option requires a long drive.

Back in work on Tues at 11.30am so at least I can get to the Next Sale in the morning.

Merry christmas everyone and enjoy Christmas Adam! (Adam comes before Eve ;) )

Am feeling quite emotional now because one of our directors has just come round to wish everybody happy Christmas, and approached me for a quiet word saying that in the new year we'd have a chat about what I want to do next! So potentially there might be a way out of my awful job without even having to leave the company :j The point is, everybody knows how unhappy I am (and it's not just me either, we've got a new accountant who's been here all of 2 months and is also planning to leave to get away from my boss!)

I'm still going to start looking elsewhere though - 5 years is quite a while to have worked for the same company these days. And trying to find an internal move was exactly how I landed the job I'm hating at the moment

I'm going to start emailing my CV to agencies over the Christmas break, especially the one my friend recommended.

  • Penny-pincher I'm curious about your washing! Does it actually get dry outside at this time of the year.I find that it just stays wet and cold and then its dark and I've got to bring it all in and put it on the airer which I might as well have done in the first place.

My house was all clean and sparkly too about an hour ago,but the three thriftlings have just had lunch so I'm off to hoover again. :xmassmile
  • Thriftlady-Have a good breeze here today and as long as I dont leave out there too late-is fine. Yesterday, just needed to pop on rad for half hour as it was freezing. Jeans and heavy items dont dry well but bedding, cotton etc if fine.

Hurrah! The Galaxy is Fixed!!! The men at the garage rushed the job through for me this morning so I could have it back today!

I checked my online bank account and I have plenty - more than usual - so off I go to pay.

And my debit card was declined !!! ARGH!!! ARGH!!!! Had an arguement on the phone with First Direct in the reception area. All the other times, if I pay in a cheque on the Monday, it shows in my account on Tuesday and I can withdraw it all on the Tuesday if I wanted too.

As this is my first monthly cheque, rather than weekly, it was 4 times the size, so they have refused to allow me to draw on it, but it still shows on my balance.

If I had known this, I would have put off paying all the bills until next week to allow funds for my car.

So, not only did I look a complete berk in the garage, they are not open again until the 3rd Jan 06.

I keep saying to myself, that thank goodness no one was in it and hurt.

Did a Farmshop and spent next to nothing! All I need now is vegetable oil for roasties and washing up liquid which I am getting from the corner shop rather than breaking my neck in Tescos.

And my Amazon order has just arrived!!!!!!! Whoo-hoo!!! Guaranteed to get it here by Xmas - and they actually did!
  • ok I officially give up!!

I had finished the housework and was enjoying a lovely time in the kitchen with 2yo cooking shortbread and making truffles etc.

An Aquaintance, who i'm not particularly keen on turns up on the doorstep with her whole family, all of them with colds and hacking coughs, and the kids have trashed the hoouse and i now will look forward to us all coming down with a cold.

    Rant over

  • :rudolf: Just made 2 doz mince pies-this time did something a bit different,I put a blob of cream cheese on top of the mincemeat before putting on pastry lids. They've come out yummy,a bit like mincemeat cheesecakes.

Charlotte644 farmshops are brilliant value aren't they? I'd be lost without my local one.

OH just rung to say he's coming home in an hour.Thriftlings rampaging all around me causing me to mqke sprlling mistlkes. When OH gets in we'll decorate the Christmas tree and scoff the 'spies. :santa2:
