Just a reminder to those who need to start the defrosting of the turkey!!

Need to cook mine on Saturday and it's advising defrosting for 48 hours in a cold room .......apart from the fact that no room in this house is cold, I couldn't risk the cats getting at it so it's currently sitting in the fridge looking all forelorn and lonely until I get the perishable shop in tomorrow.

DD2 fast asleep - she's managed to keep some water down for 2 hours!!! :j
DD1 getting to grips with a needle and a pair of dinky teddy sized shorts...

I feel a coffee and a dip into the quality street coming on.

oooh can I come to tea please PP?!

Well I managed a lie-in this morning which made up for yesterdays early start but not last nights late finish - still up at 11.30pm  trying to persuade DD to either take the dressing completely off the underside of her chin or put it back on.

Got to thinking about Queenie's comments yesterday - I've decided to make twelve shortest day of the year resolutions (not quite got the same ring has it?) with the focus being on me. Thinking about it although I don't feel neglected "me" is never top of the agenda in our house. I started with make more food from scratch (whilst remembering just how well I've done over the past few months so I felt quite proud of myself) and then I thought "where's me in that?" so I hope you don't think this is too selfish but this is what I've come up with so far:-
1.) Make sure there is always something HM in freezer that I can have for lunch (frozen leftovers ok) and then make sure I eat luch!
2.) Bath, not shower, every friday with large glass of wine and bubble bath & body lotion etc.
3.) Take dd's out to local park (we have season ticket) every month but have a "me bag" so I can read a book and have a hot drink while they run around.
4.) Out of pin money every month buy something new clothing wise doesn't have to be expensive but must have "wow" factor and not "digging the garden appeal"
5.) Over year go through all my clothes and if I don't look in the mirror and think wow then it goes. It's ok for gardening/painting/just in case will not be accepted.
6.) Bin all old makeup & moisturizers etc. especially the ones from school (over 20 *gulp* years ago) treat myself to few new ones & then use them every day.
7.) If the weather is ok spend 1/2 hour in garden every day even if it's just sitting down with a cup of tea. (and save up for a bench with my pin money)
8.) Every month buy a plant for our sorry looking garden but get one in it's peak so I can see exactly where it's needed. I know I won't get my money's worth until the following year but at least it'll be in the right place.
9.) When I do the bottle bank with DD's as they go on swings next door while I'm unloading after I've finished instead of dragging them off read for 15min's in car and let them have longer playing (not completely me but I will an extra 15mins of peace)

    still working on other 3!

Hope I haven't bored you to tears!

Have a wonderful day everyone :xmassign:
  • Hi everyone,

Just waiting for my Xmas Tesco shop to arrive, I hope there's not too many things missing??? I have some M&S vouchers that I gave to OH (as he has one near his work) so he can buy some food from there if we are short of stuff from Tesco!!

Might make a large bolognese sauce today if I can be bothered! Have some coated M&S chicken my mum gave me yesterday so will cook that and maybe do some mash beside it  . DS1 hates potatoes (apart from crisps and Mcdonalds fries! :p ) so I always have to do something else for him which is a pain.

Anyway, have a good day all! :santa2:

Back from the dentists. Wasn't too bad. Unfortunately have to go back again for another filling on 3rd Jan. That'll be a needle jobby, but I'm just releived that I don't need any more than that doing.

 - just got back from Tesco's - you know, that run that's just for those last minute perishables?

    £100

Ok, it did include a cardigan for me (necessity not spur of the moment impulse buy) and a bottle of Harvey BC and some Babycham (hope Mr TM has some brandy squirreled away :D), but still!!

I am consoling myself by saying I got lots of store cupboard essentials I had run out of (condiments etc) and more Ribena on the Bogof offer and some luxury Xmas day foods (brandy butter and lovely cheeses) However, it's a good job I put my ebay earnings from paypal in there the other day :santa2:

  • Hello everybody,
Loved the Harry Potter with my grandchildren ,but wasn't so keen on the Mc D's afterwards. Everything going to plan at the moment ,but the best news I have had today is that my eldest daughters ma-in-law has just had the all-clear from the hospital.
This time last year she was in hospital recovering from a breast cancer op. She is not a young woman, and as I had recovered myself from ovarian cancer about 20 years ago I know how frightened she has been.
We are all going to her daughter's house on Boxing Day as it's her and her husbands 50th wedding anniversary so it's a double celebration.
My arm is healing nicely although still a bit stiff. I am making a huge tin of sausage rolls for my daughter, and also she asked me to make an apple pie, as my pies are more apple than pie. I love to make them really full. She likes that as an alternative to Christmas pud as the children aren't keen on rich puddings.
I have sent all of my cards and wrapped all of my presents so I am feeling rather smug at the moment .What's the betting I will get a card from someone that I have forgotten.
I hope every one has a great Christmas and a happy and peaceful New year.
    Cheers everybody
