  • Hey

Well the room looks lovely and smooth. OH is going to paint it cream on friday as Im off round my friends with DD, so he can knuckle down and do it

Had a call this afternoon and we've won a holiday to either Tenerife/Costa Del Sol including flights and accomadation. It was through the good food show at Earls court we went too 2 weeks ago-filled in a competition form. Im awaiting a letter to see if theres any T&C's  Have to pay a small amount each for insurance but shouldnt cost anymore than about £120 for a weeks holiday abroad. Will believe it when we see it..LOL. Never won anything before. Its a travel agency or something and is not timeshare...made sure. When the letter comes and have a read through, I may call and ask if theres a cash alternative ;) know its cheeky but why not and with my health Im unsure whether I would be allowed to fly ATM. It has to be taken in next 18months. Anyone had anything like this before? All theyve asked is that we recomend them to others and if we book to go abroad in the future that we consider them

Dinner was chilli con carne with rice, tortillas, cheese and salad. Enough left to freeze about 4 portions for jacket spuds.

Hope everyones had a good day.

    Yes.

I won one of these too.

I didn't even have to pay for insurance either.... BUT

..it was ONLY for me and it was going going to cost me hundreds to thousands to take my family with me (not that I have one - but you do)

    and...

..I could choose a lesser holiday and take my family too for a mere few hundred extra...

    and...

..my flight wasn't (unfortunately) from the airport I had told them was nearest to me bit from one that was actually the furthest...

    and...

..it didn't go direct to the port of embarkation (New York) but from a different airport (Toronto)...

    and...

They didn't SAY so but the timings meant that I was going to need to provide myself with overnight accomodation before joining the ship...

    and...

I would similar problems on the return trip.

    AND

While they would make every effort to give me as much notice of my travel time as possible - it might be that they would unfortunately only be able to give just four days notice.

    SO...

Yes you HAVE indeed won a holiday... but your chances of actually collecting it...

    are somewhere between...

    ...

    SLIM...

    and...

    ZERO

Sorry hun, but that's the way these things tend to work. IF you really get the holiday then good luck to you. Honest pet :)

Hmm, dont know PP. We won one with Club la Costa recently which sounded similar to you. They did ask us to sit through a 2 hour speach about their holidays places. Other than that it sounded fine. Unfortunately we couldnt go as kids arent allowed and we have no one to mind all 3 of them for 2 hours. They gave the prize to another family-BOO HOO

Let us know how you get on - GOOD LUCK,
    Al.

  • PP- we 'won' one of these af ew years back and had to pay a 'small' charge upfront. £120 I think we paid out and the holiday to the far east never materialised. Pre-MSE days though. This year I won either 2 or 3 of them and my friend won at least 1. They aren't timeshares per se, more like holiday clubs. You do get the 'free holiday' but end up paying for airport taxes etc. The 5* accommodation is never that either. When you get the name of the company, google it. I did on my last 'win' and wouldn't have gone anyway.

You also have to sit through presentations. If they are in this country, you have to make an appt and can't take kids. More trouble than it's worth TBH. There won't be a cash alternative, unfortunately. Never mind, you may win something you want one day :D

Anyway, plumber has just gone after servicing my boiler. He can't do the work I wanted doing before Xmas, but never mind, it's not urgent and he's such a good plumber and very reasonable too. (I need pipes running through my built in wardrobes to keep the condensation down and a rad putting in my en suite, cos it's FREEZING in there) Have finished vaxng my downstaris carpets and dining room chairs today, but looked after friends 3yo so she could do her Tesco run. She's had my 3yo some afternoons. Did have to cope with 2 over-tired little 'uns fighting over a red lorry whilst trying to watch MMR though :(

Need to finish my Xmas cards and hide the ones Mr TM left for me to post on Monday as he's back from Belfast tonight :O I'll get them posted tomorrow - so I must away and crack on (no I haven't been reading Shakespeare, but plumer laughed when he saw a book I'm reading, in the kitchen. He tells me only 15 yo boys read Sven Hassell, and then, 15 yo boys of his generation (he's mid 40's) Maybe he's right, but sometimes I'm in the mood for gratuitous 2nd world war German violence  If you've read Hassell, you'll know what I mean (I expect squeaky and possibly MATH to have read some)

OK, I'm off now. Chin up PP, you didn't want the holiday anyway :snow_laug
  • Morning :santa2:

Only 10 days to go :j

Had a bad night last night, but am worrying about the hospital today  taken some strong pain killers as I can just about move.

Have put a load in WM and will be put on in a minute, it will have to be dried in TD again. DW needs putting on after breakie. Toilet cleaned. Downstairs all clear and tidy. Cleaner coming tommorrow-so will leave all that to her :p

The office looks great where plasterer was here yesterday, OH is painting tomorrow whilst im at a friends house. Carpetwrong-I mean Carpetright came out to rectify the stair carpet again, this being the 2nd time in 2 weeks, so am pleased that is now sorted!! The stairlift is going in in January so it needs to be all done and dusted by then ;)

DD has broken up, so we're going out for drive after the hospital today. Going to take a pack up with us and flask to keep warm. THeres also a cinema over there and think theres KingKong on today, but will see how Im feeling later. May look in Matalan for a smaller flask-we have a huge one (2ltr) and need a smaller one as I cant lift it  Does anyone know if they do them and if so how much roughly  Theres also an Asda nearby so could see in there also.

    Breakie-porridge
    Lunch-packed lunch
    Dinner-Shepards pie & veg

    Have a great day everyone

    Morning everyone :santa2:

A trip to the dentist first thing for a check up and then on to work.

Tonight I'm going to start filling crackers. Each year I buy a reasonable looking set, open them up and put in a personalised present, and then reseal and put a label on before putting them on the Christmas tree.

This year I'm having real problems finding small presents for the men in the family. I happily fill the crackers with make up, jewellery etc for the girls but it's so difficult to find something unusal for the guys. I've put in key rings and drill bits in previous years. So far this year they only have chocolate coins!

I need to get my thinking cap on!

Have a lovely OS day everyone!
Enjoying an MSE OS life :D

    Morning All,

Very excited today as it is DD1's(3) first ever nativity play this afternoon :j
I am going to sneak in at the back as she is quite shy and if she sees me she wont want to perform and will sit on my knee instead.

Playgroup Xmas Party this morning at 10 so that will have them all hyper and full of sugar  Its a FANTASTIC local playgroup run by some really lovely ladies and its SO cheap. £2.50 per family for 2 hours of play, singing, bike riding etc and a juice and biscuit. Other local groups charge that amount per person without providing nearly so much by way of games/entertainment. My lot just love it.

BM on timer to be ready for the break between xmas party and nativity. DH is seriously hung over and still in bed so the WM and hoover will be going on shortly :p hes out on the drink again at lunch time so needs waking up properly ;)

    Off to browse,

    Chat Later,

    Morning!

Im so tired its not even funny. I had a terrible day at work yesterday, the bus was packed and I had to stand, work was busy and I had too much to do, the bus home was late and packed, and I had a aheadache all day. I hope that today goes much better!

On the bright side, pay day is tomorrow and then ive got 4 days off, so things could be a lot worse (it could be a Monday!). Anyway, must dash and get ready!

  • Morning all,

So cleaning /dusting done, just the hoovering to do, but am being kind to my neighbour, she doens't get up till about 8.30am.
    WM on
    BM on

I ordered a fresh turkey from my butchers yesterday. I was going to get a frozen one from tesco, as they are less than half the price of fresh, but having found a couple of frozen ones in the local tesco with partially defrosted bits on them:eek: , I went right off the idea.

Reading Maths post re: housework routines, I thought I was organised lol.
Wish we all had one of those at home eh girls?:snow_laug

Anyway today, I have no plans apart from keeping a little monster entertained and running around tidying up after her, oh and putting the decorations back on the tree every 5 mins.:xmassmile

Cottage pie and something with custard for dinner (have lots of milk to use up).

Make some sausage rolls for the freezer, and maybe make my stuffings too.
